August 24, 2019
After two and a half weeks of waiting the day for my date with Taehyung finally came. Everything was planned and ready to go I made sure to pick something fun and that wouldn't require Taehyung to hide behind a mask all day. He had been wanting to know what we were going to do for the past week, but I kept it a secret to build up the anticipation. Maybe that was not the best idea since it left me hoping I made the right decision and that he liked it.
I sat on the living room couch all ready to go and waiting for him to pick me up. I opted for some black leggings, a long-sleeved shirt, and my trusty denim jacket. Where we were going was going to be a little cold, but not enough were, we needed to be all bundled up. My shoe tapped against the hardwood floor in anticipations as the seconds ticked by and Eun-Jae noticed as he went to sit beside me to watch TV.
"Someone's nervous for their date," he casually mentioned as he flipped through the channels on the living room TV.
"Yeah, I hope he likes what I planned," I shrugged, keeping my eyes on the TV.
"Oh, you planned it?" Surprise made its way to his face as he turned to look at me.
"Mhm, I was the one to ask him out."
"Damn Nari you're brave," Eun-Jae responded with a smile.
I feel the need to respond since he then turned back to the TV. My foot kept tapping on the floor. Tap. Tap. Tap. I kept checking my phone for the text that he was here, but it wasn't there yet. It was still early there were around 20 minutes to the time he'd said he would pick me up.
"You're stressing me out and I'm not even going to the date," Eun-Jae exclaimed noticing my behavior.
"I'm sorry I'll try to stop," I sheepishly apologized, trying to stop my foot from moving.
Not even a second later as I got lost in my thoughts the tapping started again.
"Seriously?" he whined.
Before I could answer my phone pinged with the text I had been waiting for.
"He's here!" I exclaimed as I stood up to leave.
"Bye Nari have fun, don't do anything I wouldn't do," Eun-Jae yelled after me.
"Bye Eun-Jae!"
Promptly, I made my way down to the lobby and out the front door. I saw Taehyung's car waiting for me across the street, so, I made sure to look both ways before crossing and got into the passenger's seat.
"Tae!"
"Hi Nari," he greeted with a boxy smile.
I gave him a short hug before asking him about his trip to Daegu.
"It was great it was nice to visit my family again," he responded excitedly.
"I'm happy to hear that."
"So, are you going to tell me where we are going?" he questioned curiously.
"Nope, I'm going to put the address in the GPS," I told him with an innocent look.
"Oh, come on," he whined with a cute pout.
"No, you didn't tell me that time we went to the museum," I pointed out to that day back in June. Revenge was sweet.
"Ugh, alright," Taehyung sighed defeated.
After adding the address in the GPS Taehyung drove us to our destination and made small talk on our way there. He told me about everything he did with his family and how much he had missed them, but that it was nice to be back in Seoul and in the apartment with the guys. Getting to our destination and I saw Taehyung's skeptic look at the almost empty parking lot.
"Are you sure it's here?" He was hesitant as he stepped out of the car and walked to the front door.
"Yes," I nodded with a smile, recognizing the building.
"You aren't planning on killing me, right?" he asked in fake fear.
"No, I would have done it at night where no one could see," Smirking, I grabbed his hand and pulled him to the entrance.
"Good to know."
I dragged him by the hand to the building in front of us and opening the door, a gust of cold air greeted us making me shiver the slightest bit, but it felt familiar and comforting. Taehyung walked behind me, squeezing my hand. I walked us closer to the center of the establishment where a big ice rink was waiting for us.
"Ice Skating?" Taehyung asked in wonder.
"I hope it's okay I didn't know if you'd like it or not," I responded unsure of my decision.
"It should be fun, but," he began saying.
"But?"
"You will need to teach me how to skate," he told me with a sheepish grin.
"You don't know?" I blurted out in surprise.
Taehyung shook his head innocently.
"Oops," I chuckled, rubbing the back of my head, "Let's look for the skates first, come on."
After putting on our skates we waddled to the opening of the rink. I swiftly stepped into it, gliding easily over the smooth ice. Behind me Taehyung took a step in and briefly slipped, but held himself onto the rail trying to stabilize himself.
"How come it's empty?" He asked, trying to get used to the feel of the ice.
"This is a small business ice rink and they rent it out to people for a few hours," I explained watching over him so he wouldn't hurt himself. Seeing he was struggling to stay up I stepped up to help him.
You have to be confident when ice skating any hesitation and you'll be on the floor," I told him as I held his hands, "It's sort of like a march take two steps and then glide with the impulse."
He was starting to get the hang of it and before I let him go, I taught him a few more moves. Gaining confidence, he began skating on his own, albeit, a little wobbly.
A smile appeared on his face as he exclaimed, "I think I got it," giggling he added, "This is so much fun."
"It's the best," I agreed, happy I had made the right decision.
"Nari, look at me," he called after me ever though I had been watching him the whole time, "I'm skat-" Taehyung fell on his butt not finishing his sentence.
"Are you okay?" I asked him, stifling a laugh.
"I think so," he answered as he started laughing too.
"Lesson number two to stand up get on your hands and knees and then get your feet between your hands one at a time."
"I'll stick to the railing for a little bit," he mentioned after standing up.
We glided slowly around the rink with him hanging on for dear life either to me or the railing. He slipped a few times, but didn't fall again thankfully. Although, he looked like a baby penguin we were having loads of fun between our conversations and Taehyung trying not to fall.
"Who taught you to skate?"
"My dad did when I was younger, but then when I was like ten years old I started doing figure skating," I shyly answered.
"No wonder you're so good!" he exclaimed in realization.
"You've seen nothing, this is basic skating."
"No need to rub it in," he mumbled, rolling his eyes at me.
"I'm not I'm just saying-" I tried defending.
"That I'm bad," he interrupted me, trying to agitate me and it was working.
"You're literally the one saying that" I exasperatedly told him, "Again, I'm sorry for assuming you knew how to skate."
"Stop apologizing, I don't care what we do as long as I get to spend time with you," Taehyung softly assured, staring into my eyes.
"Okay," I whispered, looking down at my skates.
"Why don't you show me some of your fancy moves?" he nudged me.
"You're going to be okay here?"
"Yes, go!" he laughed.
I skated towards the center of the rink and did a few basic spins, getting the hang of it again. It has been close to three years since I last skated properly so I was a bit rusty. Once I got the hang of it again, I got more daring and attempted some flying spins and combination spins they were far from perfect, but enough to impress Taehyung who had resorted to leaning against the wall of the rink to watch me do my tricks. His eyes never left my form and, in the process, he let out a few oh's and ah's at my spins. I didn't mean to show off, but hey now that the opportunity is here let me do it. Having lost the ability to skate for hours on end I got tired pretty quickly and skated at a quick speed towards Taehyung's face turned to one of fear as I neared and didn't stop. At the last second, I stopped abruptly shaved ice flying up. His face was hilarious as he opened one eye noticing I didn't crush him against the wall.
"You are amazing!"
"Trust me, I'm not. There are a lot of skaters that are so much better than me and I'm so rusty I am sure my form was way off my trainer would have a heart attack," I pouted, thinking back to all the things my trainer taught me.
"I don't care. You looked awesome doing all of that," he said, shaking my shoulders before slipping briefly and hanging onto me tighter.
"Well then thank you," I nodded unconvincingly.
"I mean it," he insisted, grabbing my hands.
The simple action making me blush which was stupid since I had grabbed his hand earlier, but the fact that he was staring at me so intently made the butterflies in my stomach go crazy.
"You got the hang of it now?" I coughed, trying to divert his attention.
Taehyung nodded and I began skating alongside him again. He focused all his attention on doing it correctly and not slipping, it was adorable. I couldn't help but grin.
"Want to go faster?" I asked him.
"How?" he tilted his head in wonder.
"Hold my hands."
With his big hands in my smaller ones, I began skating backwards and pulling Taehyung at a higher speed. He started laughing as the cold air started hitting his face the faster I went. We did a few loops like that and as we neared the entrance of the rink, I decided to stop, yet I forgot Taehyung didn't know how to do that very well. Next thing I know he flew into me, causing him to fall on top of me. The ice felt cold against my skin as it seeped into my clothes. I felt like that day at the dorms all over again, except this time there didn't seem to be any interruptions. To be so close to him was indescribable it allowed me to look at the smaller details of his face like the redness of his cheeks and nose from the cold, the small birthmark on the tip of his nose, and the difference between his eyes like how one of them he has a mono lid and the other a double eyelid. All of the little imperfections making him so unique and perfect.
"Can I ask for that kiss now?" he whispered, taking me by surprise but who was I to deny.
I simply nodded and he had no hesitation as he placed his lips on mine and unlike last time, I was able to savor it and immerse myself into it. His lips moved softly along mine, there was no rush to it, there was only us in this moment. I was able to memorize how the kiss made me feel, the butterflies breaking free from my stomach and floating throughout my whole body. My body was going crazy trying to process what was happening my breath was hitched, my heart beating miles per hour, my hands went to being splayed by my sides, from the impact, to wrapping around his neck and my hands played with the hair at the nape of his neck. He tasted sweet and just from one taste I was addicted to them. The kiss might have lasted a few seconds, but to me it felt like so much more, pulling away, our breathing was hard and heavy and before we stood Taehyung made sure to plant another short sweet kiss, my lips eagerly accepting it. If the kiss I gave him the other day had me giddy this one took me to infinity and beyond.
