I wake up in the middle of night and Lucifer is not in the bed next to me. The door is open and the light from the hall pours in. I sit up in my bed and Iblis walks over to the bed. 

"It's ok Rin go back to sleep," Iblis says. 

"What is happing?" I ask. 

"Rin go back to sleep." 

"Where is Lucifer?"

"Things got worse, Lucifer is in urgent care with Egyn now. Just go back to sleep you need your rest," Iblis replies. 

"Is he ok?" 

"Lucifer will be fine. So please go back to bed." 

It reminds me of the first time I saw Lucifer change his host. I didn't actually see the change but I was able to escape from Iblis and Astaroth to see him and he already changed his host by then. The two of them got in trouble for letting me see Lucifer before he was done changing hosts. 

I was so worried about him and I rushed to see if he was safe and ok. I have always cared about Lucifer he means so much to me.

But that was during the day, Lucifer has never done something like this and he always lets Iblis and Astaorth tell me what is happing. 

"I'm not going to go back to bed. So, tell me what is happing with Lucifer."

"How would I know?"

"I am going to see him."

"no," Iblis replies putting both arms on each side of me trapping me. "Just get some sleep and we will tell you all that we know in the morning," Iblis replies. I sigh and I reluctantly get back to sleep. 

When I do wake up I get dressed and ready for the day. Still no sign of Lucifer. I eat breakfast with Iblis and Astaroth. Still no sign of Lucifer. We go to his office and I stare both in the eye. 

"What aren't you telling me?"

"We have already told you all that we know," Iblis replies. 

"Lucifer always tells me what is happing he doesn't do this he promised not to do this to me and he doesn't break promises!"

 "I think he is just as much in the dark as you are Rin. Eygn doesn't know what is happing." Iblis replies. There is a knock on the door. "Who is it?" 

"The commander has called for the three of you. It would be best not to keep him waiting," Ms. Todo says through the door. We exit the office and we walk to the lab slowly getting faster as we get closer. In the end, I start sprinting. 

I open the doors to the lab. Lund and Strom lead me to Lucifer. Iblis and Asatroth try their best to keep following after me. "Prince, why are you walking so fast?" Astaroth panted. 

"Because Lucifer is going to explain why he left in the middle of the fucking night and sent someone to collect us instead of coming in person," I growl as I speed up. 

"Great now he has taken up your bad habit," Iblis growls.

"Lucifer better have one hell of an explanation for this."

Iblis and Atasroth flinch at my words. Once we arrive in Lucifer's presence I glare at him. He looks at me and smiles. Something is different... His aura. It's openly surrounding him. He is holding an orb of light in his hands. Small but still fathomable. 

There be better than the best explanation for this. 

"You did it Rin. The serum you gave me set in. I can use my powers without the pain, I finally breathe and do not feel like I am dying at each second. All thanks to you Rin," Lucifer purrs. Stars form in my eyes. 

"Really?" 

 Lucifer nods, his hand raises, and sparks of light float around his fingertips. A pure sector of energy, that required no strain on the host. It was true, he had done it.

The years of suffering, it was all over now. He had ended Lucifer's suffering. 

"Iblis and Egyn. Can you handle addressing my followers and telling them the wonderful news?" He waves me over and I give in to his command.

His hand teachers over mine, the loose bandages that once covered his host, were loose revealing unburdened skin below.

This was a new era, a new opportunity for us all. We can restore peace to Assiah, we can bring about true equality. 

I lean into his touch and I smile. I helped him. I was more than just his gem I succeed. My tail wags around happily, I normally would care, but I can't focus on anything other than my joy at the moment. 

3rd pov

"So why did he leave Rin in the middle of the night?" Iblis asks. 

"He was experiencing an extreme amount of pain the serum was altering his DNA and it was painful," Egyn explains. 

"Right but why?" Iblis asks. 

"It's too complicated for your mouse brain," Egyn replies, and Astaroth laughs at him. Iblis punches him and they start fighting. Egyn just watches them. 

"You guys are idiots. I am going to get the guards to round everyone up in the main room then I am going to tell them the good news," Egyn adds walking out of the room. 

"How? You can barely finish a meeting how are you going to address the entire Illuminati on your own?" Iblis asks. 

"I won't. You will have to address them," Egyn replies and Iblis ends the fight and runs after Egyn. Meanwhile, Lucifer rewards Rin for his work. Lucifer doubted Rin and his ability to create a serum he thought if he could set a ridiculous time limit on a project that has taken trained professionals years to attempt then Rin wouldn't ask him again. But Rin succeed, it seemed there wasn't a thing that boy couldn't do.
