Chapter 1

"I have him in my sights...." Widowmaker whispered, zooming in on Gabriel's back with her sniper rifle

Unaware of Widowmaker's position above them in a nearby building, Gabriel and Jack were busy lounging on a bench in the park.

"Take the shot." Her superior ordered coldly.

As Gabriel leaned in for a kiss, Jack's facial expression turned from bliss to horror as he saw the bullet flying towards them.

There was nothing he could do...

-Earlier that day-

Gabe yawned, slowly stretching his arms and blinking. He opened his eyes, smiling when he saw Jack's face in front of his on the pillow. "Mornin' Jackie..." He rumbled, kissing him lightly on the nose.

"Mph, it's morning already?" Jack groaned, clinging to Gabe's arm and sighing. "I'm still tired...."

"C'mon, we've got stuff to do today." Gabe giggled when Jack sat up, seeing that he had a complete bed head. He ruffled it playfully with his fingers, kissing him on the cheek. He also noticed that he was shirtless, which made him go red in the face. "D-Do you always sleep shirtless?"

"Sometimes..." Jack smirked at him. "I was too lazy to put on a shirt and it was hot.." he yawned, purposely stretching his arms so that his hand reached Gabe's face.

Gabe smiled and grabbed his hand, kissing it gently. "Sometimes I feel like you do that just to show off." He chuckled, running his fingers through his soft black hair.

"Partially, Yes. Don't worry darling, I admire your muscles too." Jack laughed, stroking Gabe's shoulder and yawning again.

Gabe laughed and flexed his right arm, grinning brightly. "I've been workin' on them, thanks for noticing babe!"

"Did you just call me babe?"

Gabe blushed wildly and glanced away, starting to sweat. "N-no.... I-I didn't..." he started to sweat even more when Jack leaned in and smirked.

"You don't have to be afraid, I like it." Jack said softly, kissing Gabe's neck and hugging him close.

Gabe took a deep breath and sighed in relief. He pulled Jack into a playful choke hold and giggled. "My turn, Boy Scout."

"Hey! Let me go!" Jack tried to wrestle free, but it was no use.

Gabe cackled and gave Jack a rigorous head rub with his knuckles. He pushed him down on the bed and kissed him back, getting up and stretching. "I'm going to take a shower, okay?"

Jack caught his breath from laughing and sat up, wiping his eyes. "Okay, don't take too long like last time. I was starting to get worried!" He called after Gabe as he strolled to their bathroom with clothes in one hand.

Gabe shut the door, not bothering to lock it. He knew Jack was there in the room and that he was safe. But no one is ever safe from their nightmares.

He took off his pajamas, put on a pair of tight shorts that he wore in the shower, turned on the hot water, and stepped into it, closing his eyes as the water rolled soothingly down his back. As he was enjoying it, he felt something strange.

When he opened his eyes, he wasn't in the shower anymore. There was burning inferno surrounding him and he wasn't himself. He had grown into his true form, a horrifying black swirling mass of fog with red eyes and sharp teeth.

Knelt on the ground before him was Jack, sobbing as he slowly looked up at him. "Why....? Why did you have to do this...?"

"D-Do What?" Gabe replied, trying to figure out what was wrong.

"What.... are you...?"

The fear in Jack's voice sent shivers up his spine as he stepped back and slipped, falling into a never ending abyss. His screams echoed as he fell deeper into the darkness, completely enveloped in it.

Suddenly, he was brought back into reality when he hit his head on the shower floor. He groaned in pain, clutching his head. Tears streamed down his face and he pushed himself into a sitting position. His eyes widened when he saw blood slowly trickling down the drain with the water.

"Gabe! Gabe, What happened? I heard you screaming and- oh my god are you okay?!" Jack burst into the bathroom, not caring that Gabe was still in the shower. He ripped aside the curtain to reveal Gabe with his knees pulled up to his chest while he was muttering something under his breath. Blood was slowly rolling down his back from where his head hit the floor when he slipped. "Gabe...."

"D-Don't come near me! I-I'm a monster! I'll just hurt you again..." Gabe sobbed, covering his face.

"Gabe, we need to get you to Angela. You're bleeding...." Jack sighed, feeling a pang of sadness in his heart.

Gabe sniffed and wiped his face, allowing Jack to help him stand up. He slowly stepped out of the shower, clinging tightly to Jack's arm.

"Come on, lets go get you patched up." Jack wrapped a towel around Gabe's soaked shorts and wrapped an arm around his shoulder. He led him out of the room and to the Angela's Medbay.
