chapter6
You can imagine his effrontery. Just now, I was beginning to wonder what he even took me for. And for him to think that I will melt in his kiss and then rebound with him like that, riled me up.
"Chikaima" An elderly voice called me back to reality.
"Good afternoon ma." I greeted, acknowledging her presence. It was actually the literature teacher.
"I want to tell you that a new club has been opened, 'Life club' . And I have appointed you the president." She announced with a smile, probably expecting me to reciprocate the excitement as well.
What the heck? Am I a literature student or is there not a shinning sword there, good enough to do the job? "I just decided you will fit in well." she said, as if she read my mind.
"Okay ma. But this club... what does it offer?" I asked curiously.
"Just opportunities. All you have to do is to speak to the students about esteem, personality, lifestyle, culture and even relationships." She said the last word with a mischievous glint in her eyes.
She was waiting for who would smile back at her so that she will carry gist to staff room, about students being happy about relationships and stuffs.
I gave her an odd look before she told me "I will let you know about who would be the vice president. That is... your assistant in the job. Club meetings would take place every Friday. But you will call the interested students together today to know what they feel about it, okay?" She said and I nodded before entering back my class.
"What delayed you? Dindu that called you out is already back inside the..."
I cut Adanna off with a sigh, before saying "The literature teacher stopped me and was telling me about one 'life club ' that would kick off, starting today."
"Life club ke? The press club haven't finished functioning properly, it's now life club."
I replied her dryly. "That means you are not interested?"
"Yeah," She retorted. "The name alone is a turn off."
Without further exchange of words, I went to my desk and took out an article that I had wanted my father to publish for me but he travelled earlier than I thought. And my mom never wanted those 'article nonsense' around her, as she termed it.
"If you know you're willing to join the 'life club' please do join me in the empty class besides the school hall." I hollered to my class mates and immediately left the class without waiting for an answer.
I repeated the same cliche phrase to every other classes and within a space of ten minutes the classroom beside the school hall was filled. Wow! What a good first impression.
"Hope everyone got a jotter and a pen?" I asked, looking around to be sure.
"Yes!" They echoed, though mostly juniors.
"I begin, 'Every girl needs a self esteem and a well cooked carriage. Don't be the girl who needs a guy, be the girl a guy needs. Don't be the girl to start a kiss a guy will end, it's way honourable vice versa.' " I read out, looking up from my article to be sure they were following.
"Now for the guys, 'To be a boy with esteem, a guy with spice and a responsible man with honours. To be the guy that will survive without an existence of a slut in his life. Don't be the guy that will claim a heart that you later break, treat..." I paused .
An unclean thing just entered inside this hall!
My mood quickly changed and my face soured at the annoying presence of Naomi. What on earth is she looking for here? And if I can remember, She wasn't even in the class when I made that announcement.
So how come?
"Don't make your shock too visible. It only shows the weak side of you." She said what one could take as an advise.
One not me, I chuckled.
"And shocker burn, I'm the vice president of this club. Does that now ring a bell? Or are you still lost in the ocean?" She laughed softly and suddenly her expression was like one who just didn't do the former.
Honestly speaking, I'm still oblivious of the source of her morale. Or is it because Obinna- our set senior prefect is said to like her?
"And who made you the so called 'Vice President'?" I asked for verification.
"Who else?" She rolled her eyes at me which succeeded in getting me riled up. "Keep rolling your eyes dumb ass, maybe you can at least find a brain up there." I said.
"Says who?"She frowned. "Can't even call you a cheap bitch cause you ain't even up to one. Go get yourself some joy."
"Ouch!" a junior student a girl to be precise exclaimed. Luckily for her, it was I, the sweet jovial senior that she has done that to.
If not, the brat would have been kneeling down in the hot school field, carrying her desk on her sorry head.
Or rather, she would be given the punishment of sweeping the whole of ss3 classes for one week.
Evidence of pure idiocy.
I walked over to where Naomi stood with a smirk on her lips. I drew near to her and whispered in a way that would be audible to both her and everyone around "Says I the empress, whose butt your sorry face will soon be licking, over and over again."
Her expression worsened and anger rose within her as she hissed loudly and turned to leave the hall. But I prepared for her. Within splits of seconds, my hand was quick to grab her right arm. "You don't get to leave first. You gotta watch as I walk out elegantly. As I rock and roll my ass while exiting this hall. Mother fucker!" I gave her a wry smile.
"Get the heck back to yah classes" I turned and announced to everyone one in the room as I nonchalantly walked out on the fool that made me loose my vibes.
I was the better person, if you compared. But she wouldn't just accept this obvious truth.
