chapter11

Every situation life skates across your way either make or mar you. But our ability to distinguish and critically analyze those situations matters a whole lot.

Vividly, I can remember how unsettled and discomforted I usually feel before Dindu came into my life and then kinda re wrote my story.

Certainly, the most beautiful garden is that with diversity of flowers. With the current situation of Tweet Michelle, I really understood the saying.

It was a couple of days after the dinner party and boom! Tweet stopped attending school. Firstly, many of us thought that it was all about the beef she had with Obinna. But earlier today, when I chatted her up and asked about her whereabout, she kinda opened up.

Her parents divorced a month ago and she had to live with her brutal alcoholic dad who relocated the united States.

All the while, things had never been really rosy as her parents publicly displayed. They fought always and however after countless and thoughtless fights, they decided that they were incompatible to remain a couple.

Last Christmas party, I remember how her parents bounced into the party ground in same outfit. We all cooed at it and termed it couple goals. Tweet was all pissed off. But we all took it as part of her awkward nature.

"Mum are you serious? Oh God! When did it happen?" I nearly shrieked.

"I really want to confirm the news too. I will be going straight to the airport after dropping you and him in school." My mum sadly answered with a sweat already running down her pretty face.

"Hopefully, all will be well. It better not be what..."

My mum coughed and cut me off. "Shut up and go get your backpack."

I turned and frowned, only stopping when I beheld Zimuzor.

Poor him.

"I was already tired of waiting for you guys in my room. So I decided to come out and you know...."

After all said and done, mom took us to school and we walked to class.

"I hope there wouldn't be assembly today." Zimuzor said.

I snorted. "In your dream. Get ready for singing of hymns and the extensive prayers."

We kept on talking and making fun of ourselves till we got to the door of the class and then shut our individual mouths up.

Mr Maxwell the Economics teacher was sitting on one of the front desk while addressing the rest of our classmates.

"Have you guys planned between yourselves how much to raise for the stuff."

I frowned and arched a brow as I sauntered to my chair, sat down and turned back to Adanna. "What is this man talking about?" I whispered to her.

"WAEC runs."

"By this time?" I wondered aloud.

"Girl the exam is taking place next month. Three weeks before WAEC is JAMB." Adanna shook her head wondering what I was even doing when at school.

"The date wasn't given when we registered for Jamb so..."

Mr Maxwell interrupted my words. "You, Kaima shut up or leave my class."

I stood up to leave.

"Get back here," Mr Maxwell looked confused. "Where are you going to?"

"Somewhere I can ask a question and be treated responsibly." I muttered, doubting that he would even hear it.

Well, he didn't. But most of my classmates did so they laughed a bit. That didn't help matters because Mr Maxwell's curiosity got heightened.

"Young girl, what did you say?"

I cleared my throat. "Sir, You told me to leave your class if I wouldn't shut up. And I'm totally oblivious of how to shut up in matters seemingly associated with my exams."

Suddenly, I felt as though I had two heads. With the way my classmates looked at me, I wanted to know what I said since I just forgot it.

"What was that meant to mean?" Mr Maxwell had his face morphed into a deep frown. "Young lady go and report yourself to the principal."

Eh?

"Sir, do you mean I should...like I should go and report myself to Mr Val? I guess you also mean telling me to inform him that it was also because of runs." I turned with my destination in my mind.

If he should call me back then bravo! But if not, I will proceed with my intentions. And of course, he would dance to the tune of the Principal.

"Get your stupid self back here!" He called rudely at me. I rolled my eyes at him and I made sure that he saw me. Then I went and sat down on my seat like the princess that I am.

Adanna kept pinching me. She was looking for who to tease. But of course, I was quick to resist the devil.

"I will be leaving now." Mr Maxwell said in a tone of finality. "But do make hay when the sun shines."

"This man will soon deal with us in general. And you won't get any help." Once he left, Adanna began.

I scrunched up my nose. "Who cares? Am I even offering Economics? Besides I'm not depending on that stupid runs. What if the exam bodies set cameras in the hall?"

Adanna immediately rejected it as she swirled her right hand over head. "It will shock you like electric." I told her with a little annoying laugh as she glared at me.

"And it must be you this fool that made Mr Maxwell leave the class." Obinna began indirectly.

"Is he talking to me?" I turned questioningly to Adanna. Not like I didn't know the shade was thrown at me. But I had to pretend as though I was oblivious of his folly.

"How the fuck aren't you aware of these?!" Adanna retorted, perplexed.

"Exactly! She is so dumb. I never expected anything less from the bitch. Now that she has succeeded to pursue Mr Maxwell out of the class with her nasty attitude what is she feeling like?" Another person chipped in.

Why were they talking as though I wasn't there?! It annoyed me as fuck.

"Don't be a jackass Obinna! What makes you think that you are any better than me? And please...I beg of you to never open your mouth again to call me a fool. Your very own mother that brought you into this world isn't anyway better than me." I spat out with anger.

"And why must you call my mother? Are you stupid or something?" He barked angrily as he sprang up from his seat.

Good. I loved the effect cause the look on his face was pure diamond. It clearly showed how much riled up he was.

He began taking long strides towards me and I had to stand up in alert. Where the fuck was my boyfriend? This dude should better not try anything funny. My heart was starting to beat ferociously.

"Are you mad? Now I'm beginning to wonder if you are a normal human cause you don't behave like one. Before you insult people please go take a look at your boyfriend." Dindu stated.

"Gbam!" Naomi seconded.

Where the fuck are you, Dindu? God, I thought I saw him earlier this morning. Abi, wasn't he here when Mr Maxwell came for the class meeting concerning the WAEC runs.

"Don't involve him into this issue. Besides he looks way better than you can ever be. Period!" He stood before me gritting his teeth unendlessly plus the clenching and unclenching of his fist. I then ventured to ask him, "Are you going to beat me with all this madness?"

He groaned bitterly and then began storming out of the class in anger with Naomi at his tail.

"He has no balls." I turned to Adanna and let her know.

And then, Obinna halted and looked back in anger.

"You are a couple with trouble." Zimuzor shook his head as he spoke to me.

We were heading to the place my mom usually packs her car. It was near a gigantic mango tree.

That reminded me of the terrible news mom told me earlier this morning. I felt guilty at the moment. How could I forget something this...this...

"You are being spacey again." Zimuzor sighed tiredly.

Now all that crossed my mind was how he would react to the news if it happens to be true. He would probably get melancholic.

I knocked on the car door so that my mom would unlock it from within. From the transparent window, it was evident that she was eating a roasted corn with pears.

Soon the door was unlocked and both Zimuzor and I entered the back. "Kaima do you want to break my car with those violent knocks?" My mom said as she paused chewing the bitten corn in her mouth.

"You should be asking if I injured while knocking on the door not about your car spoiling or whatever." I muttered, hoping she wouldn't hear me.

She cleared her throat, meaning that she actually heard my mutterings. Thankfully, she didn't make a fuss about it. If she had, I would be sporting lots of bruises on my skin.

"How was your day?" Mom proceeded to ask, shocking me in particular. "Zimuzor did you enjoy today?" She wanted to know everything and anything.

"Hm."

"Eh?"

"Hmm."

My mom raised a brow and dropped it back. "You alright?" He repeated his previous replies.

Mom's began slowing down the car. "Golden did you tell..."

I quickly cut her off before she unknowingly let the cat out of the bag. "You rather concentrate on your driving, there's an on coning vehicle."

From her rear mirror, she looked at me great fully and I managed a small sad smile.

"Just tell me my parents are dead cause I've been having lucid dreams about it."
