Chapter 42.

I ignored Mr. Stranger and sent Kai a message. And another. And another until tears starts pooling in my eyes.

He must be too busy to reply. I kept telling myself, bitting my lips hard to stop the  tears that were threatening to fall. I sent another message to kai and immediately my phone buzzed; a message from Mr.Stranger again.

'Are you okay?'

It read.

'Leave me alone'

I quickly replied, using the back of my hand to wipe off the tears that kept falling.

'It didn't go well... Did it?'

I ignored the message and sent a 'please reply' message to Kai which he read, but didn't reply-again.

'Babe?'

'Are you okay?'

'Screw that👆... You're not'

'Wanna talk about it?'

Annoyed at the constant disturbance, I clicked on the message, ready to give him a piece of my mind when another came in.

'You're not okay babe.... I can feel it'

'And its breaking my heart 💔'

Something in me stirred at the last message but I pushed it at the back of my mind and want back to stalking Kai.

'Can I call you?'

Another one came in.

Not waiting for my approval, the familiar ring tone of my phone blasted across the silent room.

I sucked in a huge amount of air before sliding my fingers across the green answer button.

It was silent for a while with our breathings the only sound that filled my ears. My mouth was twitching, wanting to ask him to say something, anything but I couldn't. I didn't.

So I sat there in silence with my phone across my ear and my heart hammering thunderously in my chest for unknown reasons until he let out a huge breath and said something that made my heart stop beating for a millisecond.

"Hey."
