Twelve

An awkward Silence settled between the three as they sat in the living room. In their midst, a plate of biscuit and wine was put on the centre table but no one touched it. The tension was high and could cut like a knife. After a very long time, Taehyung decided to speak.

"The both of you are brothers?"

"Half brothers. We have the same father but different mothers" Jungkook immediately replied.

"I see..." Taehyung whispered. This was a small world. He would never have imagined that Jimin and Jungkook were related but the truth was already out and it was something he had never expected. They were both so... different.

"You two know each other?" Jungkook asked looking at the both of them.

"Yes we met few weeks ago and I help out at the medical center" Taehyung said.

Talk about fate Jungkook said to himself but instead, he poured himself some wine and gulped them at once feeling extremely agitated.

"How long have you two been seeing each other?" Jimin questioned, eyeing Jungkook. The latter coughed nervously.

"Baby, are you alright?" Taehyung said caressing Jungkook's arms softly. Jimin saw it but pretended not to notice anything as he rolled his eyes. Taehyung turned to him.

"We started dating a few days after he returned"

Jimin nodded his head, smiling wryly. "mmh...that long?" He whispered enjoying seeing the discomfort on Jungkook's body. The latter coughed again.

Jungkook shifted uneasily in his seat "um...Jimin, can I speak to you in private?"

"Sure" Jimin answered with an easy smile on his face.

"Excuse me sweetheart" Jungkook said and left the living room with Jimin behind him. They stopped at the kitchen and began to whisper among themselves.

"What are you trying to do?"

Jimin growled "I should be the one asking the questions here?"

He eyed him. "You're two timing! dating two men at once? I can't believe youe"

Jungkook raised his nose in the air. "And what if I am? It's none of your business. It will be best if you look the other way. Don't dare try to mess things up for me and Taehyung"

"You like him don't you?"

"I'm crazy about him. Someone as saintly as you wouldn't understand what it means to be passionate about someone"

"I don't care about your passionate life. I don't care about what you do with Taehyung. I'm just concerned about you. Aren't you ashamed to be living like this? Where's your sense of decency"

Jungkook laughed "Decency? I threw that away long time ago. This is the kind of person I am Jimin. You should know that by now"

"But this is wrong and you know it. What about Yoongi?"

Jungkook scoffed. "Of course, Yoongi. That's the only person you care about" he said sarcastically.

"Yoongi doesn't deserve to be treated like this. You have to end your affair with Taehyung right this instant"

Jungkook stared at him in horror. "And why should I do that? Do you have any idea what that man does to me? How that man makes me feel? I'm not giving up on him. Never. I will keep seeing him and I think I will do that even if I marry Yoongi"

Jimin felt his heart go heavy. "Don't tell me..."

"Yes...I'm going to keep seeing them so keep that big mouth of yours shut. You know better than to expose me"

Jimin didn't like the direction this conversation was going to. Jungkook hovered over him grinning devishly.

"You know we need Yoongi's family connections and their wealth in other to secure father's goods at sea. If Yoongi finds out about my affair with Taehyung, he will call off the engagement and you know what happens next. Father's business will fold and we'll be out on the streets the next minute?"

He snickered. "Do you want that happening? Simply because you couldn't keep your mouth shut?"

Jimin didn't reply and that was enough answer to Jungkook. The latter nodded his head.

"That's good. You should keep quiet. It's for the good of everyone. Nothing will come out of exposing my secret"

"What about Taehyung? What if he finds out?"

"I can handle him. For now, just keep my secret for the sake of your precious Yoongi" he sounded sarcastic and Jimin was put in confusion but despite that, he was still bothered by something.

"Okay fine. I will keep your secret but I need a favor"

Jungkook smiled "I'm listening"

"Please, don't say anything about our family to Taehyung. I don't want him to find out that I'm the son of a politician"

Jungkook glared at him. "And why would you care if he finds out?"

"Well...I wouldn't want him to convince V to withdraw his support from the medical center because of his hatred for politicians"

Jungkook looked confused. " He told you he knows V? But he told me he was V"

Jimin couldn't comprehend what Jungkook was saying "I don't understand"

But Jungkook seemed to be talking to himself. "He told you he knows V and this V is a major investor in your medical center?"

The discussion was shifted. The two men looked confused trying to decipher the true identity of Taehyung?. Is he really the one who is trying to destroy their family? However, Jungkook agreed to keep quiet about their family but he was quite bothered by Taehyung's identity now. They both left the kitchen and walked to the living room where Taehyung was waiting sipping wine with his legs crossed. He looked up when he saw them.

"Baby...tell me. Are you V?"

Taehyung looked startled. "Me? Of course not. Why are you asking?"

"My brother told me V is an investor in his medical center but you told me you were V"

Taehyung looked at Jimin and laughed. "Is that what you're worried about? V is just a general name to hide the real V's identity. You know how generous V is. He's a good person who protects the people from those greedy and evil politicians ruling this town"

Jimin and Jungkook shared a puzzled expression with each other.

"It's really nothing. I just know V was willing to help Jimin with his medical center"

"Why didn't you tell me something like this?"

Taehyung shrugged, half heartedly. "I didn't think it was important."

He spread his arms to him. "What are you worried about. It's not your business right?"

Jungkook shrugged while Taehyung still spread his arms wide open for him. "Come here" He whispered in a sweet tone and Jungkook immediately fell right into his arms leaving Jimin feeling quite uncomfortable with their physical show of affection.

He cleared his throat to gain their attention. "I'll be leaving now"

The two didn't even pay him any mind as he stood up to leave. They were completely absorbed in their own world. Yeontan suddenly entered the house just as Jimin was about leaving. As soon as he saw him, he broke into a smile.

"Doctor Angel!" He cried and Immediately went to hug him.

"Yeontan...how are you?"

The boy nodded his head.

"I actually came to see you. I can tell you're doing just fine" He said.

"Thanks Doc"

"Where are you coming from?"

"I just went to play with my friends"

Jimin ruffled his hair and brought out some candies from his bag. "This is for you" he said smiling sweetly at the boy.

"Thank you" Yeontan said as he collected the candies.

"Don't be a stranger. Come often to the center to see me. Okay?"

Yeontan nodded. Jimin turned round and saw that the couple were watching them. He waved at them to see him off.

As the days passed, Jimin couldn't understand how Jungkook could act the way he was acting without feeling any sense of shame or remorse. True, he had always been rebellious but this was too much. Being engaged to one yet still having an affair with the other. Several times, the temptation to just out Jungkook to Yoongi and expose his true nature to him was overwhelmingly strong but Jimin was better than that. He wasn't the type cunning enough just to gain the other's affection. Yoongi didn't love him. It didn't mean he had to stoop to using sly methods to break him and Jungkook apart. Besides the family had so much to loose should Jimin expose the truth so he kept quiet and endured everything. He endured it when Yoongi would ask him out to have lunch with him. He held it in when Yoongi would invite him to play golf with him. Jimin was still dressed in his Buddhist attire and it never failed to amuse Yoongi.

They were in a coffee shop, sitting close to the window and watching the cars drive past them quickly.

"Why do you dress like this Jiminah?"

Jimin smiled. "I want to dedicate myself to worship and prayer"

There was a strange silence between them. Yoongi looked closely at Jimin. "Is it because of me?"

Jimin shook his head slowly. "No Yoongi, it's time we let it go. At least I'm trying to. I know you just want us to be friends and I'm fine with that. I just need to be at peace with myself"

"You're a good man Jimin. You're the epitome of goodness and many times, I feel terrible for what I did to you"

Jimin smiled painfully. "You can't help it when you love someone...I understand"

Yoongi grabbed his hand stroking it softly. "Thank you Jimin"

Jimin cried innerly. He didn't want his thanks. He didn't want his apology. He wanted his love but he had to pretend to be fine. He had to tolerate everything and watch as his family were busy making preparations for Jungkook and Yoongi's wedding. He had to endure it when sometimes Taehyung brought Jungkook along with him to the medical center and they would tease Jimin calling him Saint Jimin as if it was the one thing that made their day. It was neausating seeing them together especially after knowing that their actions was only going to bring Yoongi hurt if he were ever to find out about them. He wished they would be discreet because with the level they were going, they would be found out sooner or later.

Jimin had finished his round with his patients that afternoon when he decided to go to the garden behind the hospital. He was planting all kinds of vegetables in there. He was startled when he saw Jungkook and Taehyung. He thought they had already left together.

"What are you doing here?"

"Nothing....we just seem to like this place. The ambience is amazing"

"Thanks" Jimin murmured and looked away deliberately trying not to notice how tightly they were pressed against each other.

"Are you avoiding looking at us?" Taehyung chuckled.

Jimin scoffed. "Why would I?"

Jungkook laughed. "Leave him be Tae... he's still a virgin"

Taehyung scoffed. "I can see that. But at least, you must have been kissed. Didn't you tell me you have a boyfriend? Haven't you two kissed?"

Jimin shook his head blushing terribly hard.

"How about holding hands?"

Jimin shook his head and Taehyung burst out laughing. "How sad..." He muttered.

"Isn't he just a Saint? We have a saint among us Tae" Jungkook said in a mocking tone.

Jimin was going red with anger. He didn't understand why these two seemed to enjoy teasing and making fun of him. Didn't they have better things to do with their time? He scrunched his nose.

"For your information, I have been kissed"

The two looked quite surprised.

"Really?" Taehyung crossed his arms across his chest looking extremely interested by what Jimin was about to say.

Jimin suddenly froze as an image he had long buried at the back of his mind resurfaced again. A small smile tugged at the corner of his lips.

"It was a very long time ago. I think I was twelve. There was this boy whom I met for a brief period of time. He gave me my first kiss"

The air suddenly went still. Taehyung has unfolded his arms and was staring at Jimin with mixed emotions on his face but the most prominent one was confusion. Jungkook panicked. If he let things be as it is, Taehyung would start asking questions and that wouldn't be good so he immediately cut in.

"This is boring..." He murmured and grabbed Taehyung's arm. "Let's go home. I'm tired"

As though he had awoken from a daydream, Taehyung turned to Jungkook nodded. "Okay yeah..."

He glanced at Jimin throwing him a perplexed look. "See you around Jimin"

"Don't come back here and trouble me again" Jimin jeered at them. The couple left.

While in the car, there was silence as they drove. Jungkook kept looking at Taehyung but he had a passive face until finally, he spoke.

"Isn't it funny. Jimin's experience of his first kiss is exactly like how we first met..."

He smiled at Jungkook. "Remember? I kissed you first and you were so flustered back then. It was obviously your first time"

Jungkook wanted to sink in his seat. "Yeah... you're right"

Taehyung shook his head. "What a coincidence..."

Jungkook gulped. "Yes... what a coincidence" he muttered gravely.

Back at the medical center, Jimin had returned to his office. His nose buried into a book when that memory of thirteen years ago resurfaced into his mind. He suddenly smiled to himself as he looked up from his book. He remembered that curly haired boy who kissed him. It's funny how he remembered him today. Though he thought of him once in a while over the years and had even kept their shared necklace, the memory was stronger this time. He wondered how the boy had grown. Was he doing fine? How did he turn out to be? He really hoped he was well and hoped they might meet again at least as friends.

Destiny was playing a game because he had no idea he had already encountered him and in fact he was a constant in his life now.
