Ten

I had set my alarm for seven a.m. last night so I would have enough time to get ready in the morning. Josh and the others told me they talked about having breakfast at eight, which allows me to fix my hair from its frizzy state to something decent.

I didn't see Mr. Jeon after our check-in, either at dinner or anywhere in the building. At dinner, we had a large table where Mr. Park was also seated with us. He apologized for the inconvenience yesterday.

Something apparently came up for him, which is why he sent Mr. Jeon and that was absolutely no problem for me. Sure, the car ride and the whole thing at the front desk were a bit awkward, but what matters is that I'm here now.

The room I'm staying in is quite cute with a bed pressed against the wall, huge windows and even a small TV mounted on the wall. The view out the window is breathtaking, just nature and the good weather in front of me.

I was quite shocked when I found out that everyone got their own room because that is an extra cost for the company. I would have had no problem sharing a room with someone, but now that I have my own, I can rest peacefully.

Getting out of bed, I enter the bathroom, take a quick shower, and get ready for the long day ahead. I don't bother putting on makeup because we'll be visiting the indoor pool tonight, so I don't want to bother taking it off then.

I'm not even sure if the full day will be enough to go through all the attractions here, but I came up with a good plan last night that will allow me to at least do the things I really want to do.

I put on my outfit, which consists of wide-leg pants and a top, and let my hair air dry. Making sure I have my key card, I close my door behind me, stepping into the hallway only to bump into Mr. Jeon who is just stepping out of his room as well.

"Good morning." I greet him with a smile and he nods. "Are you headed downstairs?"

"Yeah. I'm going for a run," he says. He's wearing running shoes, shorts, and a tight long-sleeved top that hugs his body.

"Without having breakfast?" I ask, horrified. Couldn't be me. I need food.

He shakes his head, then brushes his hair out of his face. I notice he doesn't have his hair slicked back today like he always does. It looks fluffy. "I already ate," he responds.

"That's good." I smile. He looks away and I point my thumb behind me. "I'm going to go downstairs now."

"Me too," he mutters and we both start walking in the direction of the elevator.

We don't talk, though, but this time we're not standing on different sides of the elevator like yesterday. I watch the numbers above the door drop before a ding sounds and the doors slide open. He lets me step out first.

"Don't outrun the horses, Mr. Jeon," I joke, and he stares at me. I clear my throat. "I'll see you later. Maybe."

I walk away quickly until I see the others waiting for me in the middle of the lobby. Lizzie is a late riser, so we probably won't meet her until lunch.

At the buffet, I add different fruits to my plate, scrambled eggs and in another bowl, I mix some cereal with yogurt. I love breakfast, it might be the best meal of the day. But I love all meals because it involves food.

We talk, laugh a lot, and eat. It's a little weird to experience some work colleagues outside of work because they are different. The only ones from work I hang out with are Josh and Megan, so it's interesting to see how the others socialize.

After breakfast, I'm laughing my head off as Josh tries to flirt with one of the receptionists, a different one than yesterday. We walk down a long hallway that seems to lead to the massage rooms. Josh and I agree to get pampered for the next two hours until lunch.

The resort definitely offers excellent massage and I sink face down into the lounger. Josh is in the lounger next to me, but I don't feel uncomfortable because he's my best friend and well, not exactly straight. Besides, it's not like we're naked.

Just before I can fall asleep, the nice Vietnamese woman who massaged me informs me that she's done now and I almost pout because it felt so good. And that makes me not feel so bad anymore that the company is paying for the whole trip because it was more than worth it.

Josh and I put our clothes back on in separate rooms and decide to come back to life at the bar with cocktails and nachos because I could go back to my room and sleep like a bear now that my muscles have all been relaxed.

I wish Megan was here to have fun with us, but we make sure to send her pictures of everything we try and she sends us pictures of her cousin crying to which we laugh. Megan is in the front with her eyes rolling and I can almost hear her complaining.

I wonder where all our other colleagues are, but the question quickly answers itself as Josh and I walk through the complex for a stroll and some of them are outside playing on the basketball court.

Mr. Park is also there and we notice the girls standing around, sometimes giggling amongst themselves. I can see why. Mr. Park is playing like a pro, although some might think he's not tall enough, he's really good at it.

He plays against Noah and Dominic and on his team is Namjoon. The two of them create a great team and soon Josh and I also find ourselves on the sidelines cheering for them whenever they shoot a basket.

I'm really enjoying this and seeing my boss so casual and laid back makes me kind of happy. I think this trip really helps us all as a company build more trust and remember that at the end of the day, we're all just human.

Megan would certainly be jealous and dying to be here watching Mr. Park shoot basket after basket. But I couldn't blame her because the sight of him in a sleeveless shirt is almost enough to make me blush.

"You know sometimes I regret not being straight because women are hot," Josh says. "But Mr. Park. Ugh, Mr. Park. He might be the reason I'm gay."

I laugh as I see Josh looking at him with heart-eyes. He puts his hand on his forehead and pretends to swoon as Mr. Park shoots another basket and celebrates. I mean, he's not wrong.

"Hey, Jungkook!" Mr. Park suddenly yells across the court and I turn around as well. "Come here."

Mr. Jeon is just running towards the resort and he's still wearing the same clothes from this morning. That makes me wonder if he was jogging the whole time or if he took a break in between. I hope he took a break because otherwise, that is not healthy.

He makes his way slowly over to us and then I realize that the shirt is wet across his chest. He doesn't look too excited that Mr. Park called him over. Wiping the sweat from his brow, he tilts his head, quietly asking what's going on.

Mr. Park doesn't say anything and throws him the basketball laughing, which Mr. Jeon catches with ease. He is still standing far away, almost not on the court as Mr. Park teases him to throw a basket. Reactions vary from cheers to shock to giggles as the ball falls smoothly through the hoop.

"Of course, you score!" Mr. Park exclaims, teasing him with jealousy, which is obviously a joke because they're friends. And it doesn't escape my eye that Mr. Jeon hit the ball from far behind the three-point line. "You're good at everything."

"No, I'm not." Mr. Jeon disagrees in a mumble as he moves closer to stand next to his friend.

"Yes, you are." Mr. Park wraps an arm around his shoulder and slaps his chest. "You've been like this since I've known you. Even when you do something for the first time, you do it perfectly."

"Jimin." Mr. Jeon warns deeply. "Drop it."

"Okay. Okay." Mr. Park laughs. "Woke up from your grumpy side again."

Mr. Jeon rolls his eyes, but it's so subtle that if you weren't paying attention, you almost wouldn't have been able to see it. I wonder what he was like as a child now that Mr. Park has mentioned something similar.

"How about we play dodgeball?" Dominic asks, and a few start to agree. "There are enough of us to build two teams."

I snap out of my thoughts and get excited because I haven't played this in so long. The last time maybe in high school? I already can't even remember.

Not that I was ever good at it, because I always ended up getting the ball in the face even though I tried so hard to dodge, but still, I like the game. I agree as well and nudge Josh with my shoulder, quietly telling him that we should be on the same team.

"You're playing, right?" Mr. Park asks Mr. Jeon, who is still standing next to him.

"No," he replies flatly and starts to turn and walk away before his friend grabs him.

"No, you are playing." insists Mr. Park, and Mr. Jeon struggles against his pulling. "Mikayla help me."

"Yes, Mr. Jeon you should play. It's fun." I say enthusiastically and run over to the two of them.

"I'm not playing a kid's game," he says, but lets Mr. Park pull him along. "I'm passing."

"We're adults." I laugh as I stand next to him. "Come on, Mr. Jeon."

I laugh as he then gives in after I grab him by his forearm and pull him in the direction of the others where they are already forming the teams. I hope the resort doesn't mind us playing on the tennis court, but it seems like a good idea since the net can serve as a separation between the two teams.

Mr. Jeon ends up on our team and his grumpy face is actually quite hilarious. He doesn't look excited at all and is standing like a statue in the middle of the field. Balls are flying left and right and he doesn't bother to dodge.

I laugh and cheer as I manage to hit someone in dodgeball for the first time in my life, but my face immediately falls as I get hit on my leg after only a second. I sulk and run off the field, waiting for someone to get me back into the game.

I don't know how long we have been playing, but certainly longer than half an hour. I'm back in the game and even though Mr. Jeon doesn't bother he doesn't even end up out of the game. My stomach already hurts from all the laughing and I burst out as Josh gets hit in the head with the ball I threw at him.

It's funny that he's on the other team. "You backstabber." he playfully glares as he moves to the sidelines.

Now there aren't as many people in the game and everyone is desperately trying to catch the ball to bring someone in and outnumber the other team. I'm calculating a strategy in my head and because I'm so lost in my thoughts I don't notice a ball being thrown in my direction.

And when I realize it, it's already too late and I close my eyes, waiting to be hit full in the face. Who throws the ball so mercilessly high anyway?

But the impact never happens, although I hear a loud thud. When I slowly open my eyes again, I see Mr. Jeon standing next to me. He stares down at me, something flashing in his dark orbs.

"I'm out," he says calmly before averting his gaze from the field and walking out.

I panic because he was our best player. Not once has he been eliminated from the game and now I have to try and get everyone else back in with two other team members. Which is almost impossible because I can't catch.

So I try my best not to get eliminated too and actually one of my team members manages to catch a ball and get someone in. Now only two are out and I have hope that we can win.

Not that I care about winning since I'm not really competitive and it's mostly about having fun. I see Josh gloating as he is brought back into the game and I become his only target.

I run through the field as Josh bombards me with balls and at one point I run behind a teammate and this causes her to get hit instead of me to which she groans. I feel bad.

"I'm so sorry!" I yell after her as she sadly steps out of the game and I send Josh a glare.

He grins in response and throws another ball that I can't escape in time. I hold my arms outstretched in front and as if a miracle happened it falls right into my hands instead of hitting me. I hold the ball up triumphantly.

"Mr. Jeon!" I shout, waving the ball. "I caught it! Come back in!"

He sighs as if he was satisfied with his position and slowly walks back into the game. Now there's only one guy beside us on our team and two on the other. The guy in our group gets hit right away and that leaves just Mr. Jeon and me.

Mr. Park is grinning on the other side of the field but his laughter falls when I manage to hit his teammate and that leaves only him. I'm having more fun with everything than I probably should because I never thought I'd end up being the only one on opposing teams in dodgeball with our two CEOs.

Mr. Park is actually very good at the game, and the way he dodges balls reminds me of a dancer on a stage, enchanting everyone with his contemporaneous choreography. He skillfully glides across the field and dodges every ball thrown in his direction.

And Mr. Jeon doesn't seem to like that, because when I look over at him I see his clenched jaw and he's holding the ball tightly with both hands. He still looks remarkably calm, something he always seems to be, which confuses me.

He stretches his arm back and although he doesn't seem to put much force into it, the ball flies into the other field at breakneck speed. Mr. Park tries to dodge but the ball hits him on his shoulder, knocking him out, and thus the game is over.

"We won, Mr. Jeon!" I shout happily, running to Mr. Jeon, who is standing there unimpressed.

A big smile is written on my lips as I wait weirdly, hand held up. He stares at my hand without hitting it. Doesn't he know how to high-five?

I grab his wrist and raise his hand in the air and slap it. The other teammates come running onto the field with happy faces and I know this game will be talked about for a long time in the company.

The other team watches our joy with disappointed faces, but I think Mr. Park did a good job on his own. We all get into a circle standing and talking about the game and I only get a quick glance of Mr. Jeon as he is looking in my direction.

______________________

After dinner, most of the guys feel so exhausted that they almost can't lift their arms anymore and are already complaining about how they are going to start working again on Monday. The rest is still as energetic as they were in the morning. And I am one of them.

We decide as a group to visit the indoor pool and I rush to my room to change into my bikini. I packed the olive two-piece that I bought last summer. Luckily it still fits me even if my belly is peeking out a bit.

The sun has already set and the large swimming area is lit only by lights. The others are already in the water, on the loungers, or chatting as I arrive there. I put my towel and other belongings on a lounger when I hear someone approaching.

Turning around, I see Dominic standing in front of me. "Hey, Mikayla." he greets with a smile and I smile too.

"Hi," I say back.

"Enjoying the trip?" he then asks as he pushes his wet hair back, his biceps flexing in the process.

"Very much," I reply enthusiastically to which he grins. "And you?"

"Yeah." he nods. "I was wondering if you'd like to play water volleyball with us. We don't have a net, but who cares."

My smile widens. I'm always up for fun experiences. "Of course. I love to play with balls."

His eyes travel down my body. "I bet you do."

"I'm actually bad at it. Really!" I say quickly as he gives me a doubtful look, his eyebrows skyrocketing.

"I can teach you," he suggests, and I nod. Why is he looking at me like that?

Anyway, we walk over to the pool together and get in the water. I shiver as the cold gnaws at my skin and I try my best to get used to the temperature quickly. Fortunately, it doesn't take long and we're already starting to play.

I know I'm going to sleep through the night because I can feel my muscles tiring, but that doesn't stop me from playing water volleyball with the others, swimming around, or chatting in the hot tub with Josh.

We all have a good time together until we realize that the indoor pool area will be closing soon and that is when we decide to call it a day. I notice that the majority have already gone to their rooms anyway, so I grab my towel and leave the pool area.

The resort is quiet in the hallways as I step out the door and make my way to the showers on the same floor. Just as I'm about to tie my towel around my shivering body, a door to my right opens and I almost run into Mr. Jeon.

Clouds leave the room and steam rises from his skin as well. His hair lies pressed on his forehead and is damp. So are his shoulders. And his chest.

He is standing in front of me with only a towel tied around his waist, staring down at me. I remember the day at Vogue when I saw him standing half-naked in front of me, but now I have a clearer view of all the designs adorning his right arm.

The room he stepped out of must have been a sauna because he looks relaxed. Drops of water run down his skin and somehow my fingers itch with the urge to reach out and feel how hard his abs are.

What am I actually thinking?

Throat clearing from somewhere above me brings me out of my trance and I quickly look up at him.

"Oh my god. Was I staring?" as soon as the words leave my mouth, I facepalm inwardly. Why would I say something like that? "I mean, are you going to the pool right now? It's really, really cool in there. The tech did a good job with the lights and stuff."

I smile comically and tighten the towel around my chest. Why do I always have to get into weird situations with my boss, I don't think I'll ever forget the sight of his half-naked body so close to me ever again.

"Is there anyone else there?" he asks after a few seconds of silence.

I shake my head. "The area closes in half an hour, though. I forgot to add that." I shrug. "But I was one of the last ones to leave."

The longer I stay here, the weirder and more uncomfortable I get. And the fact that Mr. Jeon doesn't really say much, but just stands there staring at me doesn't help. I can feel the drops of water on my hair running down my back and then I remember that I was supposed to go take a shower.

"Be careful the staff doesn't lock you in there thinking no one else is inside. That is if you decide to go." I smile and then clear my throat when he still doesn't say anything. "Good night I guess, Mr. Jeon."

Ignoring the heat that radiated from his body, I walk past him and on to the showers. When I'm done with that, I head back to my room and throw myself into the comfort of my bed.
