Jealous

Sam looked over at Yuki, chewing on his bottom lip as he thought about what she had said. She was trying to set him up with a guy from school, something Sam wasn't so sure of. Sam kinda wanted to say yes, but there was something holding him back, or should I say someone. There was a huge part of him that was hoping someone else would ask him out, but that wasn’t happening anytime soon. You see, Sam had this massive crush on Yuki's brother, which she doesn’t know about. And something that’d he'd never tell her about because one, it was her brother and two, well there really wasn’t a two. Still though, he was her brother and she’d probably freak out if she knew her best friend was crushing on her brother.

Sam took a deep breath before giving her an answer. “I don’t know Yuki. This doesn’t seem like a good idea."

"It’s a great idea, Sam. He really likes you. I can tell,” She told him, trying to convince him to agree.

“He’s a nice guy, but he’s not my type,” Sam lied. He didn’t really have a type but like I said, he was still holding onto hope of him and Taurtis.

“Oh my god, you like someone!” Yuki fangirled.

Sam felt the color drain from his face. Think a little more and she was sure to find out who he liked. “What? No, I don’t like anyone, I just want to focus more on my schoolwork and dating is a distraction."

"That is such a lie. C'mon, what’s his name?” She asked, grinning widely.

“How are you sure it’s a he?” Sam retorted only for her to give him one of her looks. “Okay it’s a he."

"Yeah, so what’s his name?” She asked.

Sam came up with a totally random name. If he gave her one it’d settle her curiosity for awhile. Until she started asking a thousand questions, so she could figure out a way to get you two together. But before you could speak another voice was heard. “What’s whose name?” He asked, making you turn your head to look at him as he passed by.

“None of your business, Taurtis.” Yuki said, rolling her eyes at her brother’s presence.

“I wasn’t asking you. I was asking Sam.” He replied. “So what’s his name?"

Sam swallowed thickly, trying to find a way out of this situation, but thankfully Yuki came to his aid. "You don’t have to answer that, Sam. Taurtis is just being an ass. Now go away, Taurtis."

Taurtis rolled his eyes at his bossy sister before going into the kitchen, keeping a close ear on the conversation. Yuki waited until he was a good distance away before turning back to Sam. She was determined to get a name out of him and then she’d get the two together and be the best matchmaker there is. Sam, on the other hand, was trying to find some way to get out of this situation. His only ideas were, tell her he liked her brother or go out with the guy she was trying to set you up with. Yeah, he liked option two better.

"You know what? You’re right. A date wouldn’t be so bad,” Sam told her, hoping to direct her attention to planning this date.

Taurtis perked up at the word date, giving his full attention to Sam's conversation with his sister. Who the hell was Sam going on a date with? He didn’t like it, nope, not one bit. He saw his sister start squealing before running off to plan everything and tell him Sam had agreed to a date. When he saw that his sister was out of the room, he replaced her spot on the couch. Sam sighed and turned back around, giving a quiet yelp when he saw Taurtis in front of him.

“Sorry, you startled me." Sam said.

“No worries. So you’re going on a date, huh?” Taurtis asked.

Sam nodded, wondering why he was asking. “Yeah, I am. Why do you care?"

"Psh, no reason. So who is this mystery man?” He asked.

Sam stared at him with a confused look. It almost sounded like he was jealous… Yeah, right. “Uh, his name is Grian. He’s in Yuki and mine’s math class."

"Sounds like a douche." He mumbled under his breath, turning to look away from Sam.

“What?” Sam asked, not having heard what he said.

“Nothing. You have fun now." He said before getting and walking away, leaving Sam in a state of confusion.

It didn’t last long as Yuki came back shortly, showing him everything she had planned so far.

Sam found himself sat at a booth inside Splatburger, a new restaurant in town, tapping his fingers on the table as he waited for a date that wasn’t showing up. He sighed heavily, as much as he didn’t want this date, it still hurt to be stood up. Sam saw the shadow of someone sliding into the seat across from him, raising his head. He expected to see Grian sitting across from him. Instead he saw Taurtis with a wide smile on his face making Sam wonder why he was here.

“Hey Taurtis. What’re you doing here?” He asked.

He pointed to the side where his band members were setting up their equipment. Oh, he had a gig here. That made sense. Sam nodded in understanding, looking behind Taurtis to see if his date was here, which he wasn’t just like Sam expected.

“So you waiting for that Grian guy?” He asked.

“Uh, yup,” Sam replied.

Taurtis smirked. Oh, he wasn’t going to show up anytime soon. All thanks to him. Earlier, he tracked down Sam's date and he may or may not have locked him in his basement until the night was over. Hmm, I wonder why Taurtis went to such lengths? “Well, how about you and I hang out until he shows up?"

"Sure, why not?” Sam said, smiling widely.

He moved to order for the two of them, watching the chute shoot out two burgers and some fries. After just a few minutes with Taurtis, Sam found himself laughing loudly at the stories he shared with him. Currently, he was telling Sam an embarrassing story about Yuki, one that had Sam holding his side in slight pain from the laughter. Taurtis felt his heart skip a beat at the sound of his laughter. It was so sweet and melodious. Damn these feelings of love!

Sam calmed down enough to catch his breath and to catch Taurtis staring at him. “What? Do I have something on my face?"

"Huh? Oh no, sorry I was thinking,” He said, quickly covering up for staring.

He quickly distracted Sam with another story, wanting to hear the sound of his laughter again. Before he knew it, Sam had spent the whole day with Taurtis. It had gotten dark and J had come for Taurtis so they could do their show. Which he had asked Sam to stay for and of course he did.

The next day at school, Yuki and Chan had bombed Sam with all sorts of questions. The only question he managed to hear was them asking how the date had gone.

“I don’t know, he never showed up.” He told them, closing his locker and collecting his things.

“What? He never showed up? That can’t be true,” Chan said, shock laced in her tone.

“Yeah, Grian is a sweet guy. He wouldn’t stand you up like that. Maybe he had an emergency that prevented him from calling." Yuki replied.

“Right. Not even a text,” Sam sighed, but he wasn’t disappointed of last night.

“Look here he comes. We’ll ask him now.” Yuki said, walking towards Grian. “Hey, Grian!"

"Hey Yuki, Chan, and Sam.” He smiled at the three before it disappeared. “Oh God, Sam. About last night, I can explain."

"Okay explain.” Sam said.

“I don’t really have an excuse but I lost track of time somehow. One minute I was getting ready, the next the entire day had passed. Let me make it up to you, tonight? Pete’s Pizza Palace?” He asked.

Sam was about to reply when he felt someone at his side, wrapping their arm around his shoulders. “Sorry, we have plans tonight.” Taurtis spoke.

“Oh, another time then.” Grian quickly walked away before it could get awkward.

Sam looked at Taurtis in confusion. They didn’t have any plans so what had gotten into him? Sam started to speak up, but the bell interrupted him, making him sigh. He’d have to ask about thar later. Right now he was heading to class with Chan following as the two had chemistry together. Yuki and Taurtis stayed in the hallways, Yuki having pieced everything together. The only reason why Grian didn’t show up last night was because Taurtis had gotten in the way.

“Oh my god! You like Sam!” Yuki exclaimed before she gave him a look of disgust. “Ew, you like my best friend!"

"Keep it down. I don’t want anyone else hearing.” He said.

“So wait, you stopping Grian last night, what was that about? You weren’t, like, jealous he had a date with Sam?” She teased.

“What? Me? Jealous? Yeah, right! As if!” Taurtis replied, rolling his eyes at his sister's true accusations.

“Holy crap! Yes, you are! Ooo, I’m telling,” Yuki teased in a sing-song voice. “Look, I can’t believe I’m actually saying this, but you should go for it. He’s a nice guy and you two would look nice together. Also he could pull you out of this 'bad-boy' phase."

"It’s not a phase!” He grumbled. “But you really think so?"

She nodded. "Totally! I’ll even help you. Later though. I gotta get to class."

Sam packed up his things, shutting his locker before quickly turning around and coming face to face with Taurtis. The two were awfully close together and when Sam tried to back away, the lockers seemed to stop him. "H-hey, Taurtis.” Sam stuttered.

“Hey, I was wondering if you wanted to go on a date?” He asked.

Sam stood there in shock. Did his long time crush just ask him out? Holy crap, he couldn’t believe it. It was like some sort of dream. Had he fallen asleep in class? Sam used the hand that rested on the lockers to pinch himself, you know, just to make sure this was real. But to Taurtis, Sam's silence was making him panic.

“I’m sorry I probably came off too strong,” He started, trying to fix his mistake.

“I’d love to!” Sam quickly replied before he could take it back. “I would love to go on a date with you."

He grinned widely and sighed in relief. "Great, shall we make plans."

He held out his hand for Sam to take, which he gladly did, lacing the bunny's fingers with his. Sam slung his backpack over his shoulder before beginning to walk with him. Who knew jealousy could get you a boyfriend?
