Avoidance
Taurtis has been miserable lately and it was driving Grian crazy. Normally Taurtis could have gone to Sam and complained about it but Sam has been distant lately too.
Sam was a good friend of Taurtis and Grian’s, but all of a sudden he stopped hanging around them. The three of them haven’t spoken in at least a week and Grian had a feeling that was why Taurtis was in such a bad mood.
Grian watched irritatedly as Taurtis sloshed his Mountain Dew around, drinking none of it.
“You want to prank Mr. Dorito or something?” Grian suggested trying to get his friend to at least crack a smile.
“No.” Taurtis muttered in response. Grian grumbled to himself.
“How about we create some more Tauritos?”
“Not feeling up to it today, Grian”
“You haven’t been up to doing anything fun all week, Taurtis!” Grian said throwing his hands in the air in frustration. Taurtis only frowned.
“Hey, Sam”
Grian turned to see Sam had entered the cafeteria. Fantastic, now was a good time to get to the bottom of this. Grian jumped to his feet and began to walk toward Sam. He was about to sit down with his friends but Grian grabbed his arm first and started to drag him away.
“Grian, what…?”
“What’s going on with you?” Grian demanded once he had brought the bunny over to where he and Taurtis were sitting. "You just sort disappeared on us.”
Taurtis was now looking up seeming desperate for Sam to answer the question as well.
“Nothing I’ve just, er… been busy is all.” Sam said. Gord, hr was practically sweating. Grian opened his mouth to point this out but Sam stopped him. “Listen I’m not really hungry anymore. I have to go”.
With that, Sam pulled away from his grasp and exited the hall. Sam had only just got here. Grian knew the only reason Sam was leaving is because he wanted to avoid them.
"He doesn’t want to see us, Grian.” Taurtis mumbled, sadly. "Just drop it, will you?”
But Grian wasn’t finished. Ignoring his friend, Grian went after Sam. Taurtis didn’t bother coming with him. Maybe he just wanted to leave Sam be. Grian wasn’t going to give up so easily however. He needed his fun friend back.
“Sam.” Grian had caught up to him in no time "Tell me the truth why are you avoiding us."
“I’m not avoiding…” Grian gave Sam a look and Sam seemed to think twice about finishing that sentence. Sam sighed “Alright, alright. Truthfully, I’m not avoiding you guys… I’m avoiding Taurtis."
Grian was ten times more confused than before. “What are you talking about?”.
“I sort of kind of well…”
“Spit it out, man!”
“I like Taurtis!” Sam blurted out, turning bright red as his confession escaped his lips.
Grian blinked. “Are you serious?”
“Of course I am! I’m been avoiding him because I don’t know what to do about it”
“Well, here’s a crazy idea. Tell him!”
“I can’t just tell him”
“And why not?” Sam opened hid mouth to continue to argue, but didn’t seem able to think of anything. “Sam, this is ridiculous. Let me tell you something…”
“What the hell are you two yelling about” They both turned to see that Taurtis had decided to show up.
“Thought you were going to stay in the cafeteria?” Grian said, raising an eyebrow.
“I was actually just heading to gym when I heard you two yelling.” Taurtis explained. “Thought you might have started something. Look, Grian, if he doesn’t want to talk to us…”
“This is stupid. Taurtis, for Gord's sake, he likes you. That’s why he’s avoiding us."
“Grian!”
“Sam, it's fine. Taurtis likes you, too. He has for a long time."
Sam and Taurtis looked equally embarrassed. Grian would have preferred that the two have told each other on their own, but that obviously wasn’t going to happen. So he took matters into his own hands.
“Do you really?” Sam asked, bright red.
“Well, ah...”
“Taurtis!”.
“Yes, yes! Okay, I do."
Sam and Taurtis just stared at each blankly, making Grian become irritated again.
“Alright. Now that that’s done and over with, can we go prank Dorito now or not?”
