14: Run
Narrator POV
Taehyung was strolling through his neighborhood slowly approaching his home.
His fingers picked at his lips, peeling off the dry skin. He winced as one peel stung more than the others had. He swiped his thumb across his bottom lip and looked at it. Yep, it bled.
Sometimes, he missed when his lips were soft, moist and healthy.
Looking up from his slightly red thumb, he noticed an unfamiliar car parked in front of his family's house. He sped up his pace and as he got closer to the car, he recognized the license plate. He knew this car. It was your boyfriend's. It was Jimin's.
Taehyung looked bewildered around, seeking Jimin. As he didn't catch a single glimpse of the black haired boy whose looks he'd grown so familiar with over the past month, he approached the front door to his house.
As he reached the porch, he hesitantly placed his ear to the cold wooden door.
"Shit" He cursed under his breath when he heard voices just on the other side of the door.
He wasn't able to recognize Jimin's voice as he'd mostly watched from afar and never spoken to Jimin, but then your voice sounded.
The boy cursed again, this time slightly louder which caused him to slap himself over the mouth. He knew what this meant.
You and Jimin were in his house, talking to his parents.
It could only mean one thing.
You knew. His parents knew. He'd go to jail. He can't go to jail!
Taehyung turned around on his heel and set off running. He showed Jimin's show off car the finger as he ran off, no drivers license and no car. He had nothing.
He ran and ran. His eyes were dry but he was miserable.
All he wanted was his little sister back. He wanted his Peaches. He wanted his favorite person and best friend. He was supposed to protect her always. That was his only job as a big brother, and he failed at it. He lost her.
It had happened years ago. His parents told him often that he could still turn into something great. But how? How could a person who failed his only and easiest task of being a big brother, do great in life.
He wasn't good at anything.
Why wasn't it him who had suffered. Why wasn't it him who had been in a coma for days, only to never wake up again. Why did his little sister have to die, and he survive?
It was his father who crashed the car for fucks sake, why did his little sister have to pay for that?
He missed her so much. Every day, every hour, every minute and every second. It had been years, yet he thought of her constantly. He missed her. Hugging her, teasing her, making her laugh and being angry at her. The warm feeling of a baby sister he could take care of. He missed it all. The person, the love, the feeling.
But he saw that in you.
As you and your friends started hanging out with Taehyung's friendgroup, he noticed how close you and Jaemun were. Taehyung knew Jaemun had a little sister, but he didn't know of the close bond the two of you had. It reminded him of him and his little sister, who got so cruelly taken away from him.
You reminded him of her.
That's why he'd skipped school for days to stay home and plan out the perfect accidental car crash.
It was supposed to be at night and cold, so the roads were slippery. He'd hide in the verge on a night Jaemun had been out with his friends. Taehyung would know when this was, because he was gonna be invited too and the girls were not so it was convenient—because you wouldn't be in the car. He said he was feeling unwell, but really he was ready with his flashlight and gun, in case he didn't die instantly.
Fortunately for Taehyung, Jaemun did as Taehyung flashed him with the flashlights, blinding him and when he ran in front of the car, Jaemun turned the wheel with all his power to not hit whatever just appeared in front of his car. The car skidded over the slippery road and into the verge. And Taehyung—he left.
Taehyung had kept an eye on you after your brother's death. It saddened him to see you depressed. He chose to give you some time to cope, at least he had some empathy.
He waited for three months, because you didn't seem to get better. He wanted to make you feel better. But then, he noticed how you started smiling more and that you started seeing a boy.
He was supposed to replace your big brother, not some random dude.
Taehyung was gonna make you feel better. He was gonna be like your new big brother.
What else did he kill Jaemun for?
So he started sending you letters. Letters in which he told you how he didn't want you to be with another guy. He wanted you to leave Jimin.
And you did, or so he thought.
You fooled him.
It hurt him.
How could you? You were supposed to be his little sister.
And now, both you and Jimin had told his parents. But fuck that—you knew and that's what ruined everything.
Unless...
Unless he just removed Jimin out of the picture.
Until now, he didn't intend to actually kill Jimin. He thought it would never get that far. But... he had already done it once, why not do it twice?
With Jimin out of the picture, you would need someone else to lean on. If he was there for you all the way through, maybe you'd forget about his sins.
Taehyung had stopped running long ago, but now he turned around and ran home again. He hadn't gotten far so it wasn't long until he reached his home.
The car was gone.
Taehyung entered the house and quickly ran to his room. He rummaged through his drawers, searching for a key. As he found it, he went to his closet, pulled out the black briefcase with a lock on that was hidden on the top shelf and unlocked it.
He grabbed the weapon, gripping around its shaft tightly and pushing it in his back pocket pulling his shirt over it to hide it. He the exited his room and hurried out of the house.
He heard his parents' faint voices calling his name, but he was busy. He was getting his little sister back.
Taehyung ran to your house, but the car was not there either. He decided to run to the bakery he knew you worked at. He had once slipped a note to you in there. If you weren't there, he would run to Jimin's apartment—the bakery was closer.
He ran and ran, his legs ached and his breath was long gone. But nothing was more important than getting his little sister back. Fuck his aching legs, fuck being able to breathe, fuck the sweat dripping all over him. He was pure adrenaline and he had made up his mind, even if that was going to be the last thing he did.
Bingo, he thought as he saw Jimin's car parked in front of the bakery. He stopped outside the door and saw you sit in there. He then saw Jimin too, sitting in front of you. It made his blood boil hotter than the sweat dripping off him. He entered the bakery. Jimin looked up and instantly stood up as he noticed the figure and outfit that had been outside your house earlier, inserting another letter into your letterbox.
"Get out." Jimin spoke, certain and calm.
You turned around and saw Taehyung. Taehyung's eyes lowered down and met yours and a feeling of familiarity enveloped his heart.
People had turned their attention to Taehyung and Jimin, wondering what was going on. Taehyung however only minded you. You were right there, finally he could just reach out and grab you. You were so close.
"Get out!" Jimin now yelled, noting how Taehyung's eyes had fallen onto his girlfriend.
Taehyung looked up at Jimin again and felt his blood boil again, just as you had made him calm. He reached behind him and pulled out a gun from his back pocket, pointing it at Jimin's head.
I warned her. She didn't listen. He'll have to pay.
a.n.
Remember what I said at the beginning... this is just fiction. I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO(fucking)OOOOVE Taehyung and I know he has the purest heart ever and Jimin's and his bond is pure soulmate tings, this is just fiction. It's not supposed to be as it is in real life :)
Just wanted to say that in case someone is offended about Taehyung's character...
Also... this book is coming to an end.
