Saudade - ONE
It was a cold December morning, around 10am, when Hinata woke up that day. His eyes were puffy from having cried too much last night while talking to Kenma, his pillow was still damp from said tears. Kenma had stayed on the phone with his friend, trying to cheer him up but despite his attempts, he couldn't. At the end, he just silently listened to Hinata rant and cry. It was truly heart breaking for Kenma. He couldn't do anything to help Hinata other than listen.
For Hinata, the crying was only natural. He hadn't stopped ever since that day. Suga had tried comforting him. Daichi had tried bringing up his juniors spirits. Even Tsukishima had tried making Hinata stop crying, that didn't work out.
He even cried after a game against Aoba Johsai. Karasuno had won but he still cried. Oikawa and Iwaizumi had approached him in hopes of calming him down but this only made the boy cry harder.
He cried in front of Bokuto, and this only made the owl sad. Akaashi had spent the rest of that day trying to cheer both Bokuto and Hinata up. He had succeeded with Bokuto but Akaashi and him ended up hugging Hinata until he had dried out of tears to cry for the day.
Today felt different. Although Hinata was not looking forward to the day, he had agreed to Sugas plan on celebrating the birthday. Hinata still wanted to look presentable to hide the reality of how he was feeling. His outfit consisted of some black jeans with a white t shirt. He quickly threw on his Karasuno sweatshirt before grabbing a jacket and heading out.
He was about to put on his shoes when he stopped and dashed towards his room before coming out with something on his hands. He snuggled it close before grabbing his Vans and walking out of the house.
It was about noon, and he was walking the streets of Miyagi. His hands were shoved into his pockets before he stopped in front of Coach Ukais store.
"He-" the coach stopped and stared at Hinata, "how you doing?"
"I've been better," Hinata shrugged picking up a bouquet.
"Suga push you to this?" He asked. He knew about Sugas plan and he had advised the team to not pressure Hinata into doing things until he felt better.
"Yes and no," Hinata chuckled a little, "I'm not looking forwards to it but I couldn't say no to going."
Coach Ukai nodded and the boy and smiled, "stay safe and warm!"
Hinata waved goodbye and he left the store. He was carrying some flowers in his arms but once outside he brought them up to his face to smell them with a small smile on his face.
"His favorites."
He walked for a couple more minutes before stopping.
He looked at his phone and realized he was about an hour early to the site the team and him had agreed on meeting up at, he just sighed and proceeded to walked through the aisles. He seemed to be looking for something and but stopped when his eyes came across his.
"There you are," he smiled, "I've missed you so much."
He sat down and placed the flowers in front of him. He refused to look up for a few minutes. He was building up his courage, he still wasn't sure if he should be here. It was silent for a few more minutes before he finally made eye contact with blue eyes.
He stared at the boy who was just smiling back at him, making Hinata start reminiscing on some past memories.
"Hinata!" He heard a voice behind him. He turned around and looked at the black hair boy who was walking towards him from a distance. He smiled widely.
"Kageyama!" He waved and waited for his friend.
"Are you not cold?" He asked, right as the smaller boy was going to shake his head a strong breeze went past them. Hinata immediately shivered while Kageyama let out a laugh.
"Why are you laughing?" Hinata glared at him. Kageyama shook his head and took off his scarf before quickly wrapping it around Hinata. A small blush appearing on his cheeks, Hinata knew it wasn't because of the cold.
"Is the king blushing?" Hinata teased.
"Shut up dumbass. We can't afford you getting sick." Kageyama continued to blush.
"Whatever you say," Hinata smiled and winked.
"Kenma was talking about this really cool game, we should get it!"
"What's it about?"
"He said something about VR and needing two players. We can look it up when we're home."
"Well what's it called?"
"Uh- its called- uh- I'll just ask Kenma tomorrow again."
"Moron."
The two looked at each other and bursted into laughter.
"You know, you have pretty eyes," Hinata said staring at Kageyama. The latter blushed and looked away.
"you have very pretty hair," Kageyama said after a moment of silence. He patted Hinatas head, almost making fun of how short he was.
The smaller boy scoffed and rolled his eyes, "I'm tall."
"No you're not," Kageyama smile goofily at Hinata, "want to know what you are though?"
Hinata stared at him confused, waiting for him to continue.
"A DUMBASSS!" Kageyama started laughing as Hinata just glared.
"Stupidyama," he muttered underneath his breath.
Kageyama just kept laughing making Hinata smile at the boy. He took in the way his eyes crinkled at the corners, the way his cheeks turned slightly pink and how his face titled upwards each time he smiled.
Hinata liked seeing Kageyama laugh, it suited him.
"What are you staring at, you dumbass?" Kageyama questioned a frown making its way to his face.
"At you! You dumbass," Hinata glared back.
The two boys burst into laughter after a moment of silence.
The moment could last forever and they would be more than fine with it.
