16. Undoing The Past

"I'll pay for the coffee."

Jungkook was startled as his doe eyes were squinting gently as he scanned the handwritten words on the boards above the counter. It's not that he was about to get any fancy drinks, he will opt for his favourite iced Americano anyway.

"Mr Kim."

The raven head turned back around to spot the taller male standing behind him with his dimpled smile on display.

"Namjoon. Don't have to be too formal with me Jungkook." Joonie offered the younger his best smile as Jungkook nodded back with his bunny-like grin. "Alright, Namjoon."

"That's better, isn't it? Now, what would you like to have? It's on me."

"Oh no, I would like to pay for it please?"

"Jungkook, I called you out as a welcome treat, so allow me to pay for this. Why don't you find a spot for us? I will get your iced Americano for you."

"How did you know?"

"I assumed you're an iced Americano kind of a person?" said Namjoon.

Jungkook chuckled as he nodded with thanks at the taller male.

Phew, I should probably be more careful about knowing his details and preferences. Namjoon, on the other hand, proceeds to order two iced Americano as he retrieved the drinks shortly after to find Jungkook by the window, scrolling through his phone.

"Here you go."

"Thanks Namjoon."

Jungkook happily tucked his phone away and took the drink from the older, feeling happy with the first sip of his iced coffee.

"So Jungkook? How has it been returning to NYC so far?"

The raven head sipped on his drink as he raised his brows at the older Kim. "You knew I was in NYC before this?" How does word about him once occupying the streets of NYC suddenly becomes a hot topic?

"Hoseok was telling us the other day over dinner. Your boss finds every single reason to praise and comment about his employees, particularly you. That's how I know you were once a New Yorker yourself."

The younger nodded. Of coz, Hoseok never fails to give his employees all the credits and some times, giving more credits than it's due. "Yea, I was. Not for long though, did part of of my University courses here and I was out before the senior year. I graduated in Seoul."

"I see. Why did you choose to leave NYC and en route to Seoul? You could have graduated here within the year isn't it?"

Jungkook's shoulder tensed. The forbidden memories flushed in once again. Thinking about the reason for him to leave triggers all the cells in hiatus which he didn't wish to awaken.

"Just for some change of environment, I guess? Dad was settling back in Seoul and I wanted to be with my family."

Surely the answer seemed pretty natural and harmless. It wasn't what Namjoon was expecting. He knows why Jungkook chose to leave 8 years ago from NYC and vow to never return. Namjoon knows that a certain silver head was the one who drove Jungkook away from the city.

"How has it been with Gardler? You're so young and extraordinaire, much like our Taehyung."

Jungkook scoffed at this. He can't seem to agree with the purple-haired man about the compliment in stringing him and Taehyung into one. There is no bloody way Jungkook will agree he is similar to the silver head.

"By all means Namjoon I don't have anything against your opinion but I certainly don't think I am anything close to your cousin - Mr Kim. I just got lucky with Hoseok and Gardler."

"I'm sure you put in a lot of effort Jungkook. You've always been someone who never ceases to amaze me with your willingness and hard work." Namjoon could only reminisce all the good things he heard about Jungkook and how passionate is the younger with the things he does.

"Always been? You speak like you've known me for years." Jungkook chuckled, he didn't find anything strange with this.

"Yea, I mean...I liked your presentation in the office. So, I assume you're an achiever." The older shrugged his tongue slip away with a follow-up comment. "So, are you perhaps seeing anyone? Got someone you love?"

For this, Jungkook was certainly weirded out. What the hell is it with the question and curiosity? "Why would you want to know that?"

"I'm sorry if it's a bit harsh or too upfront. I was just wondering. I have a fiancee by the way, so I'm not making any advances on you."

"So you assumed I was gay?"

"I'm so sorry, I was very rude. No, I mean-..."

"Chill Namjoon. I get it. I am gay and no, I don't have a boyfriend." Jungkook replied with a chilled out tone. He finds talking to Namjoon makes him feel comfortable and the younger is willing to share his details just like that.

"Oh."

"Are you weirded out or homophobic coz I swear-..."

"No. Taehyung is bisexual."

Jungkook choked on his spit. Why does Namjoon have to be so blunt with his words and why does the older keep mentioning about the one man Jungkook didn't want to talk about?

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, I just keep making things awkward, aren't I?" The purple head gulped. Namjoon wanted to spend some time with Jungkook and he can see how his behaviour is making Jungkook feel awkward.

"Not at all, you're really funny Namjoon." Jungkook chuckled lightly finding an instant strange connection with Namjoon liking the older's quirky speech and honest demeanour.

"I'm glad. I can be upfront and awkward at times. So, want to hang out again sometime over dinner? I can invite the rest of the gang too."

"Gang?"

"Yea. You, Jimin, Hoseok, Yoongi, Jin and me. Oh, Taehyung too."

"No offence Namjoon but Tae-..Mr Kim seems a little off to me, I think it's better if I don't mix with him much. He didn't seem like he is very fond of me either. After all, I'm just an employee who works for his expansion project. I'm nowhere near his status."

The hint of bitterness in Jungkook's voice was evident in every single word he said. Namjoon can understand how hurt the younger sounded underneath it all. "You're mistaken about him Jungkook. Taehyung is not the stuck up in the ass, egoist casanova people paint him to be. He is a good guy and he cares."

Jungkook frowned.

How is Namjoon defending the man from all the evil when he is the devil himself? Whatever Namjoon said the young tycoon is not are the precise reasons on why he and Taehyung didn't work out.

Whatever, it's not like Jungkook is in any position to go against what Namjoon said. It will be too weird for him to defend his point of view when Namjoon doesn't know what the hell happened between him and the silver head. So he responded accordingly.

"Well, maybe? I'm sure you have your fair share of opinion about him too. He is your cousin after all." The younger said through a teeth-gritting fake smile as he sipped on his cold coffee to suppress his boiling anger.

Namjoon noticed the redness increasing in the younger's face, indicating Jungkook is trying to suppress his anger through his gritted teeth.

Sigh, what am I gonna do when both of you are super stubborn? I can't make sense nor can I separate you two from making a mess.

The older's mind turned like a hamster on spinning wheels. He gave up 8 years ago and right at this very moment, he is about to give up again.

"So, dinner then?"

Jungkook finished the last drop of his coffee in the cup as he placed it back on the table. "Alright."

Namjoon's eyes sparked like twinkle light as he grinned from ear to ear. He was glad that at least Jungkook seems to have matured enough over the years compared to Taehyung who only got worse than what he was before. The older decided to switch his focus and continued to chat with Jungkook for another hour covering all rays of topics from how did the younger handle certain projects to his inspiration for days to come.

It was a hearty chat and Jungkook enjoyed his time out with the older. By the time he was done with the coffee chat, time was close to 6 in the evening and Jungkook was making his way home to their rented space.

"Jimin. I'm home."

Jungkook dropped the keys in the bowl and switched his boots to a home slipper by the door.

"Hello, Jungkook."

Since when did Jimin's voice turn so deep like it was the depth of the ocean? Jungkook flipped his head up from his feet when he spots the familiar silver head sitting like a king in the single couch, cross-legged.

"What are you doing here? Where is Jimin?"

"Geez, no hello? No greetings? Why do you sound like I am some sort of mafia coming after you for ransom by kidnapping that shortie? Relax Kook." Taehyung scoffed.

"Seriously?" Jungkook rolled his eyes at the handsome devil. "Where is Jimin? He didn't text me-...oh wait." The raven head rubbed the back of his neck as he sighed in disbelief. How did he ever forget the fact that Jimin mentioned he will be out with someone when Jungkook was heading out.

"I guess you got your answer." Taehyung started to grin cockily while shaking his left foot in the air which he crossed over his right knee.

"To what I owe you the visit then Mr Kim?" Jungkook crossed his arms. He needed to ensure his racing heart and the rising chest is not evident through his hoodie.

"Nothing. Why can't I come to see Jimin?"

"Bullshit, Jimin is not here. He must have let you in and left. Why would you stay when he is not here for you to visit?"

"Good job Sherlock. Then why are you asking me stupid questions? I am here to see you."

"Me? Why? I returned from your house hours ago. Besides Mr Kim, there shouldn't be any reason for your sudden visit. The last I checked, we are not even friends to have a casual hang out."

"Oh, so are you friends with Namjoon to have a casual hangout?"

Taehyung questioned with his jaws clenched. He is no longer sitting like a king on his throne as he stepped forward heavily towards the door while Jungkook stood where he was, close to the main door.

"Were you stalking me?"

"Tsk, as if. I passed by the Brother's Cafe when I saw you and Namjoon by the window."

Jungkook narrowed his eyes at the older. "He asked me for a coffee and I said yes. Why does it bother you?"

"Why does it bother me?" Taehyung walked closer and closer, decreasing the agonizing distance between them which he hated. By the time he was satisfied with his distance, he was already pinning the younger against the door. "It bothers me coz you were having fun with my cousin brother."

Jungkook was hyperventilating. Again.

He felt the older's body pressing against his own which resulted in Jungkook loosening his mind. The effect of the older on him drives Jungkook mad.

"I told you Jungkook. I will get what I want and what is mine. I don't share. Not before and certainly not now when you're looking so sinful in my eyes."

Taehyung pulled the raven head's hoodie collar down and planted a few kisses along his favourite nock of Jungkook's neck. "So sweet and so good." The silver head pressed his body forward imprisoning Jungkook with his as the younger felt defeated and weak.

"T-tae...fuck." Jungkook closed his mouth shut with his palm when he notices the lewd noise almost escaping his mouth.

"Why did you stop?" Taehyung wasn't happy. He lifted his hand to uncover Jungkook's mouth as his eyes dropped from the younger's doe eyes to his inviting lips which Jungkook made a mistake by nibbling on his lower lip.

"I said before bun, do not provoke me." Taehyung didn't wait, he was quick enough to snatch Jungkook's wrists to either side of his head and pinned them to the door while his lips attacked the younger's as Jungkook's scream drowned in the wet tongue invading his cavern.

Jungkook gasped but he wasn't about to win over the dominance of the older as Taehyung was on fire devouring the younger like a starved caveman for days.

With strings of saliva attached while he detached his lips from Jungkook's, Taehyung buried his face in Jungkook's neck inhaling the younger's scent. "Why did you leave me bun?"
