The cat is slowly getting into Granger's nerves. It kept on trailing after him for around two weeks already, from the day he brought it to his room and mewls loudly whenever he goes out. Not only that, he had to clean up after its mess too. Granger could only sigh at the stuff he has to do, since he is having difficulties finding the black feline a suitable owner. He sifts his hand through his curled locks, only to sight a couple of naturally white strands of hair. The cat is lying nestled against his bandaged chest, and he observes its quiet behavior, curled upon itself. He lifts an arm to be able to caress its black fur, causing it to purr, making his heart soften.
I should not be attached to these things. He reminded himself.
He grunts and he gently carried the small kitten onto his hand, that eventually woke it up. He places the kitten down to be able to fetch his leather boots underneath his bed. The creature mewled and looked up at him expectantly.
"You shouldn't come. Didn't I tell you that it is dangerous?" Granger speaks up, before standing up from bed, reaching out his black coat hanged behind his door, and the kitten immediately followed after him.
The kitten knew he's going out when he grabbed his coat, and as soon as Granger slipped into it, the kitten claws its way up until his shoulders, making the gunslinger heave out another sigh. He better move on instead of stressing himself out on the creature, if he wants to get ahold of the best pale ales anyway.
He immediately went out of the inn he is currently staying in, and towards the local tavern he went, occupying one of the unoccupied stools by the bartender counter, the kitten still onto his shoulder.
Logan, the owner of the local tavern, hummed in amusement seeing the kitten onto his shoulder, which Granger responds to with a neutral look.
"The usual." The gunslinger spoke cheaply, looking at the bartender expectantly, only for Logan himself to chuckle.
"What is it that you got there, Gran? Surprised you found yourself a pet~" Logan teased that made Granger roll his eyes, lifting up a hand and caressing the kitten's chin as Logan busied himself preparing his pale ale, and sliding it over to him presented in a large, wooden beer mug.
Granger unzipped his collar, now exposing the half of his face before clutching at the mug's handles with a sigh.
"I found it in the forest. I'm putting it up for adoption, but no luck."
"And it's black too. They bring bad luck, don't they? Maybe that's why you can't find an owner. I suggest you keep it instead, at least you wouldn't be lonely in your own home." Logan shrugged before he entertained another guest who had come to occupy the stool on his left side.
Granger side eyed the kitten that mewled once more and nuzzled his collar. He took a big chug from his mug full of pale ale and he sighed out with a tiny blush set onto his cheeks. He feels tipsy, but it is certainly not enough to make him drunk.
His eyes darts towards the far edge, where he sees a woman, wearing a fedora hat with a design of a rose upon its base, her long hair in shades of crimson, braided down until the hilt barely reaches the floor. Granger raised an eyebrow as he saw two large men surrounding her, and he could see the slight uneasiness in her small figure.
All of a sudden, a man in violet hair entered the scene and this made Granger turn his stool towards their direction. The once noisy tavern were silenced as they began fighting, and surprisingly the woman, he now noticed bearing an eyepatch on her left eye, grabbed her umbrella that turned out to be a sniper, aiming it at the tall men. The violet haired guy had daggers that inflicted wounds against their skin, and they immediately retreated the tavern.
Everybody else was shocked but the two figures looked at one another and grinned. Granger found the woman amusing, for it is rare to find gunslingers these days, hanging around the tavern. The crowd cheered up for them, and even Logan himself was amazed, but immediately went towards their direction, apologizing in stead of the two men.
