Evelyn heard a knock on her door and got up quietly. She grabbed Tyler's shirt off the floor and threw it on before she tiptoed over to the door to avoid waking the boy up.

She opened the door slowly to reveal Stefan. "Uh, hi?" she greeted, looking down the hall. "What are you doing here? Is Elena not home?"

"She went to pick something up at the store, I'm waiting for her," he explained before looking her up and down. "Sorry, am I interrupting something?"

She looked back at her bed to see a very naked Tyler fast asleep before looking back at Stefan. "Technically, no," she answered. "What do you want?"

"Some guy is here to see you," he explained. "He's waiting in the living room."

"Who is it?"

"I don't know, he didn't give me a name."

"So you just let a random stranger into my house?" Evelyn inquired. "Who could possibly be a sociopath?"

"He seemed like he knew you," Stefan shrugged. "He was pretty persistent on being let in."

"Can you tell him, I'll be a minute?" she requested. "I need to change."

"Sure," he agreed before walking away.

Evelyn closed her door before walking over to Tyler and shaking him slightly, "Wake up sleepy head."

He groaned before slowly opening his eyes. He smiled upon seeing the girl there, "Morning."

"Morning," she replied with a smile.

He raised an eyebrow, "Are you wearing my shirt?"

"Maybe."

"Can I have it back?" he requested.

"Nope," she said with a grin.

"What am I supposed to wear?"

"Nothing," Evelyn stated with a joking wink. "It's not like I took your pants."

"So you want me to walk out of your house shirtless?" he inquired.

"Nobody's here except Stefan and some person who's here to talk to me about something," she explained. "So if you leave now, it won't matter."

He narrowed his eyes slightly, "You want me to do the walk of shame?"

She tilted her head slightly, "Yep." She leant down and kissed him, "Now, hurry up."

She grabbed a pair of Jean shorts out of her drawer and threw them on. She made her way downstairs a moment later. "Hey, sorry it took-" Evelyn had begun but she froze upon seeing who was in her living room.

"Hey Princess," he greeted with a grin. "You look great."

Evelyn took an instinctive step back and shook her head, "You-no-you're..."

"Did you miss me?" he mused.

Her heart started to race as she tried to process what was happening. Of course things had been going far too well lately for something to not go wrong. But she never wanted it to be this.

"Evelyn?" she could hear from behind her and she knew it was Stefan but she was in too much shock to process what was going on.

Evelyn reached for her throat as it felt like it was closing up. She felt someone's hands on her shoulders and she felt them turn her around but everything was starting to blur.

"Evelyn?" Stefan tried. "Can you hear me?"

She shook her head, "I-I don't..."

"Hey, it's going to be okay," he told her. "Just breath, okay? In and out."

She listened to him, breathing in and out periodically and she felt her heart rate slow. Stefan was watching her as her vision came back into focus. He looked behind her at the person before looking back at Evelyn, "Who is that?"

Evelyn glanced back at the boy before looking up at Stefan, "That would be Scott."

"Wait," he shook his head. "As in your Scott?"

She nodded slowly when footsteps sounded from the stairs. She looked up to see Tyler standing there, clearly confused. He looked around for a moment before his eyes landed on Scott and the confusion was swiftly replaced by anger, "What the hell are you doing here?"

"Tyler," he greeted smugly. "I always knew you had a thing for my girl."

Tyler moved down the stairs as though he were ready to tackle the boy but Evelyn stopped him, placing her hand on his chest. "No," she shook her head, "I've got this."

He eyed her for a moment but eventually nodded. She moved her hand and walked over to Scott cautiously, taking a deep breath.

"You know, I always thought there was good in everyone, no matter what," Evelyn began as she stopped in front of him. "That we are all human, so it was understandable when they did something bad. But you? You don't deserve any more chances. You have no good in you. So whatever the hell you're doing here or whatever the hell you want from me, I don't care for it and you're not going to get it."

He smirked slightly, looking down at the girl, "Kiss me."

"What?" she inquired, taking a step back. "I'm not going to kiss you."

"Kiss. Me," he repeated, stepping closer to her.

Evelyn shook her head but as the words resonated, she felt herself drawn to him, "No, I-"

"Kiss me."

Before she could stop herself, she was leaning up and pressing her lips to his. She could feel the tear trailing down her face as she pulled away. Why had she done that?

"See?" he mused, leaning forward so that he whispered in her ear. "Still mine."

He moved away from her and looked over at Tyler and Stefan, Stefan was holding Tyler back. Scott smirked at this. "I'll see you boys later," he stated before looking down at Evelyn who was more confused than ever, "And you, call me."

Once Scott was gone, she turned to face the boys. Tyler looked at her, hurt clear on his face, "Why would you do that?"

"I-I don't know," she tried, shaking her head. "I didn't want to, I just...I don't know."

"I'm gonna go," Tyler decided, making his way to the door.

"Tyler, wait!" she tried but he was already gone.

She ran a hand over her face, "Why would I do that?" She turned around and Stefan was watching her with a confused expression. "I really didn't want to," she explained. "I didn't-It was like he made me no matter how hard I tried to fight it." She rubbed her temple for a moment, "You believe me, right?"

Stefan watched her for a moment before a look of realization dawned on him. Evelyn grew confused at this, "What is it?"

"He's a vampire," Stefan concluded.

"What?"

"He must have compelled you before-" he explained, "-and now he still has control over you even with the vervain."

"Wouldn't I have noticed that?" Evelyn inquired. "It didn't take much for me to figure you out and I knew Scott for a long time."

"If he compelled you, it wouldn't matter."

"This is insane," she replied. "He's not a vampire."

"You don't know that."

Her brain felt foggy as she spoke, "Maybe I was wrong."

"What?" he asked in confusion.

"Maybe I was wrong," she repeated. "Maybe he's actually not a bad guy, he just made a few mistakes."

"A few mistakes?"

"It was an accident," she explained. "He never meant to hurt me."

"From what you told me, it wasn't an accident."

"I'm gonna call him," Evelyn said, reaching into her pocket and pulling out her phone. She knew that what she was saying and doing was insane but it was like she wasn't in control.

"You can't call him," Stefan shook his head.

"Maybe he does deserve another chance," she replied. "I'm gonna talk to him. Let him explain himself."

"Evie-"

"You can't stop me," she pointed out before dialing his number.

"I knew you'd call," the all too familiar voice said through the other line.

"Can we meet?" she asked anxiously.

"Yeah, our spot?"

"Okay, see you soon," she agreed before hanging up.

"I'll be back soon," Evelyn told Stefan.

"Evelyn just wait a minute," Stefan tried. "Wait for Elena to come back and we'll figure something out."

"I'll be back," she said simply and she left before he could say anything else. Evelyn made her way to the top of the clock tower where they used to spend their time together.

"Hey," she greeted as she approached him.

"Hey back," he responded. "I'm glad you called."

She smiled, "Me too."

"How have you been?"

"I've been good, actually," she answered and her nose wrinkled. "Which has a lot to do with you being gone."

"You don't mean that," he said, stepping closer and she took a step back.

"Why did you come back?" she asked him.

"To apologize."

"Really?"

"I'm sorry I hurt you," he apologized. "You know that was an accident, don't you?"

"Uh," she shook her head, backing up till he was up against her and she was pressed the wall, "Actually, I don't,"

"It was an accident," he informed looking into her eyes, his eyes dilated and she shook her head.

"Stefan was right," Evelyn said in disbelief, pulling her phone out behind her back.

"About what?"

"You're a vampire," she concluded as she made an attempt at discreetly trying to call Stefan."

"A vampire?" he scoffed. "Do you realize how ridiculous that sounds?"

"I have to go," she told him. "I need to, um, talk to Tyler."

"Tyler?" he inquired. "You actually like that douchebag?"

"He's not a douchebag."

"He's not good enough for you," Scott said, reaching up and placing his hand on her upper arm.

"And what," she said pulling away from his arm, "You are?"

"I'm better than him."

"No. He's ten times the man you are," she pointed out. "He's loyal, he likes me for me, he's always there for me and he never lies."

"You really want the truth Evelyn?" he asked. "Fine. You're right, I am a vampire. And if you try anything to get away, I will push you right off of this clocktower."

"What do you want from me?" Evelyn asked, sticking her phone into her pocket and hoping that Stefan had answered.

"I'm a friend of Isobel's," he explained and her eyes widened slightly. "She sent me here your freshman year to watch over you and your sister, make sure you guys were happy. Now that you guys know who she is and that you were adopted she wanted me to come back in case I needed to take care of anything."

"So you're her bitch?" Evelyn concluded.

"I'm not he-"

"Yeah," she disagreed. "You are."

"Stop talking," he demanded and for some reason she couldn't speak.

"She told me it would be easiest if I could get with you or your sister, and seeing as your sister was already taken and you were easily manipulated, you can understand why I chose you," he explained. He walked back to the edge and sat down, gesturing for her to join him. Evelyn obeyed.

"It was pretty easy at first. The new kid took an interest in you, you were happy because you got attention," he went on. "As we got farther along in the relationship, you got suspicious and you found out I was a vampire. Which, by the way, I compelled you to forget. You started freaking out and wanted to break up, of course I couldn't have that. So I compelled you to do whatever I said. I even compelled your little friend Caroline to sleep with me once, she was more desperate than you were."

Evelyn scowled at him and he seemed to realize that she was unable to speak, "You can talk now."

"God," she scoffed. "You're a dick."

"Words hurt Evelyn," Scott said, placing his hand mockingly over his heart.

"Let me go," she demanded.

"You've changed," he observed. "You're...less pathetic."

"Wow, thanks," Evelyn rolled her eyes before standing up.

He looked like he was going to say something when he suddenly looked back at the exit, "Who did you call?"

"What?" she asked with furrowed eyebrows.

He grabbed Evelyn and wrapped his arm around her throat, backing them up to the edge of the tower. Stefan appeared at the door and he grew alarmed when he saw what was happening.

Evelyn grabbed his arm and tried to pull it away but it was no use. "Scott, you don't have to do this," Stefan said warily.

"I have my orders," he replied.

Stefan took a step forward and Scott tightened his grip causing the girl to let out a yelp. "Stay back," he warned.

"Okay, okay," Stefan said calmly, "What is it that you want?"

"Isobel sent me. Just in case her last message wasn't clear enough," he explained. "You need to stop looking and not contact her ever again."

"Okay, I can make that happen," he told him. "Just let her go."

"You really are a whore," Scott whispered into her ear as though his suspicions were true all along. He then threw Evelyn to Stefan who caught her before he vamp sped away.

"Hey, hey," Stefan began, helping her stand, "It's going to be okay."

Evelyn shook her head, not trusting her voice. Stefan took her hand, guiding her down the clock tower. She was still shaking as they arrived at his car.

"Are you alright?" Stefan asked as he started the car.

Evelyn kept her eyes trained outside the window, "Why do people do that?"

"Do what?"

"As if you're okay when you're clearly not."

"Will you be okay?"

"I hope so."

They both remained silent until Evelyn spoke up, "I have to tell him."

"What?"

"Tyler," she explained. "I have to tell him about vampires. I don't-It's the only way he'll understand what happened."

"Damon can compel him."

"No," she shook her head. "I'm not going to do that to him. I won't lie." She glanced over at him, "I won't tell him about you, if that's what you're worried about."

Stefan nodded, "Tell him what you have too." They pulled up to the Lockwood Mansion, "Call me when you get home."

"Yeah, yeah," Evelyn rolled her eyes. "Will do." She got out of the car and stopped for a moment. "Can you not tell Elena about what happened today?" she requested, "I wanna talk to her."

"Yeah, okay," he agreed. "Good luck."

Evelyn made her way to the side of his house and stood directly below his room. She climbed the vines along the wall carefully like she would when she was younger. She knocked on the door and waited.

She saw him move in the room and walk toward the window. The curtains moved to reveal a clearly confused Tyler. He opened the window, "What are you doing here?"

"I came here to explain and I'm not leaving until you listen," she answered, slipping in through his window.

"Okay."

"Okay? That's it," she asked. "I thought I was going to have to fight you on it."

"Explain away."

Evelyn thought over it for a moment, "I realize that I'm going to sound absolutely insane." Tyler crossed his arms over his chest, "Maybe you should take a seat."

He sat down and she placed for a moment, "You know what a vampire is?"

"Form Twilight."

"Yes but not," she answered. "Vampires..." she began, "Well they're real."

Tyler stared at her for a moment before he burst out laughing. Evelyn narrowed her eyes, "It's not a joke."

"You're serious?"

She nodded, "Yeah, I am."

He raised an eyebrow, "Okay...Say you're telling the truth. What does this have to do with what happened today?"

"Scott's a vampire," she explained. "He compelled me while we were together. Compulsion is a type of mind control. He, um, he compelled me to do anything he asked of me. Which is why when he asked me to kiss him, I did, despite every part of me not wanting to."

"Wow."

"Look, I know it's a lot to take in, but-"

"It's not that."

"Then what is it?"

"I don't understand how somebody could be that..." he shook his head. "Evil."

"Yeah, well, you get used to it."

"Are there any others?"

"Vampires?"

"Yeah."

"Stefan and Damon Salvatore.

"Ah," he said as though everything suddenly made sense.

She narrowed her eyes slightly, "What?"

"That's why you spend so much time with Stefan, because he's a vampire and you get dragged into his crap, not because..." he trailed off.

"Because what?" He stared at the floor, not saying anything. "You're jealous aren't you?"

"Me? Jealous," he stood up, "No."

She raised an eyebrow, "Yeah, because that was totally believable."

"I'm not jealous, at all. He just gives you that...weird, flirty look when you're together and I don't like it."

"You're jealous," she repeated.

"Okay, fine," he huffed. "Maybe a little."

"I promise, you have absolutely nothing to worry about," she replied. "Stefan and I are just friends."

"I know."

"Good."

"So are we okay?" she asked warily. "Because I really am sorry for everything that's happened. I didn't-"

"Shut up so I can kiss you," Tyler cut her off, causing the girl to smile. He leaned down and planted a kiss on her lips. He pulled away and she rested her head against his chest.

"I love you," Evelyn mumbled.

"What?" he asked, pulling away to look at her, the look on his face telling her he heard what she said but he needed her to repeat it.

She looked up at him for a moment, "I love you and it terrifies me."

He smiled before speaking, "I love you too."

"You do?"

"Yes."

"You're sure?"

"Yes, yes, I'm sure."

Evelyn grinned before leaning up and kissing him again. "Can you do me a favor?" she asked once they separated.

"Depends," he replied. "What is it?"

"I need you to drive me to Caroline's house."

He raised an eyebrow, "You're kidding."

"No."

"You voluntarily want to see Caroline?"

"Yes, I need to talk to her."

"Uh, yeah, I can drive you," he nodded, grabbing his keys off the nightstand. "We have to go out the way you came in."

They both carefully made their way to his car and drove to Caroline's house.

"So what exactly do you have to talk to her about?" he asked as he pulled up in front of her house.

"It's complicated," Evelyn answered as she unbuckled the seat belt.

"Right," he nodded. "Do you want me to wait and give you a ride or...?"

"No," she replied. "Assuming this goes the right way, I won't need it, plus I can always walk home if it doesn't."

"It's the middle of the night," he told her.

"I'll be fine babe, I promise," she swore and she leaned over to kiss him quickly, "See you tomorrow?"

"Yeah," he agreed and she got out and walked up to the front door.

The Sheriff's car wasn't in the driveway and Evelyn was a little grateful for that. She knocked on the door and rocked back and forth as she waited for the door to open.

Eventually the door opened. "Evelyn?" Caroline spoke in confusion, "It's the middle of the night, what are you doing here?"

"Can I come in?" she requested. "We need to talk."

"I guess so," she replied, holding the door open for her to enter.

"I owe you an apology," Evelyn blurted out.

"You do?"

"Yes."

"Okay, I'll play along," she crossed her arms over her chest. "For what?"

"For not giving you the benefit of the doubt."

"I'm not following."

"I'm talking about when I walked in on you and Scott," she explained. "I thought you were doing it because you liked him but what I didn't know is you didn't have much of a choice in the matter. I'm sorry I didn't hear you out when you tried to explain it to me."

She looked at me in shock, "Evie, I-"

"It's okay," she shook her head. "You don't need to explain."

"I'm so sorry," Caroline whispered as she started crying, "It's my fault."

Evelyn wrapped her arms around the girl and allowed her to cry into her shoulder, "You have nothing to be sorry for Care. Don't apologize, it wasn't your fault. Scott was a dick and he deserves any crap he gets."

She sobbed harder and tightened her grip as Evelyn comforted her.

Scott's return only allowed for one good thing, the reuniting of two best friends who needed each other now more than they ever did before.
