2 years later.....
"Tae? Are you here?"
Taehyung smiles and jumps from the bed and scurries from the bedroom in their apartment in Naju, a small town in the Jeolla Province of South Korea.
"Hey." Jungkook says when he sees the boy.
"Hey. How was work?" Taehyung asks as Jungkook steps out of his shoes.
"It was fine. How about you?" Jungkook asks leaving a sweet kiss on Taehyung's cheek as he walks into the apartment.
"It was good. Seojoon-hyung let me off early." Taehyung says taking Jungkook's shoes and carrying them to the room.
After they left Daegu they got off at the train station and bought the cheapest tickets but they didn't stay in the town the bus stopped.
Naju was small and quiet and peaceful. The people here were nice and they didn't judge them. It was a perfect place for them.
"Are you hungry?" Taehyung asks when Jungkook comes into the bedroom.
"No." Jungkook says wrapping his arms around Taehyung's waist and resting his chin on his shoulder.
Taehyung smiles turning in his grasp and facing him. "Tired?"
"Mhm." Jungkook nods kissing Taehyung's jaw.
"I told you to take the weekend off." Taehyung says leaning into Jungkook's touch.
"I can't. Your birthday's coming up." Jungkook says.
"Jungkook, I already told you I didn't want anything." Taehyung says pulling away slightly to make Jungkook look up at him.
"I'm saving up to buy you something nice." Jungkook says kissing the corner of Taehyung's mouth.
"You got me something nice for Christmas." Taehyung says.
"Five dollar socks aren't nice." Jungkook says rolling his eyes.
"It's the thought that counts. I didn't give you a gift." Taehyung says frowning a little.
"You did." Jungkook says smiling.
"Sex isn't a gift." Taehyung says making Jungkook laugh.
"It is with you." Jungkook says gently rubbing circles into the small of Taehyung's back.
Jungkook's phone rings and he releases Taehyung to grab it from the bed.
When they got to Naju they both got new phones as way to start over in their new town.
"Who is it?" Taehyung asks when Jungkook doesn't answer right away.
Jungkook shrugs letting the phone ring out. "Probably just telemarketers."
Jungkook silences his phone before turning to Taehyung.
"Come on. I'll make you something to eat." Jungkook says taking Taehyung's hand.
"It's my turn to cook." Taehyung says letting himself be dragged from the room.
"I know but, I want to cook for you." Jungkook says letting his hand go as he walks into the kitchen. "You just relax."
"Baby, you just said you were tired why don't you let me~"
"I'm fine Tae. You relax." Jungkook says opening the refrigerator to find something to make.
Taehyung huffs giving in. "Fine. I'm going to take a shower."
Taehyung leaves Jungkook in the kitchen and heads to their room.
-
Jungkook's been acting strange for the past couple of days. He was acting strange even before then.
He's been picking up extra shifts at the restaurant where ever he has time and the 'telemarketers' seem to just love his phone number.
Now Taehyung sits at home alone with a small pout as he stares at his phone waiting for Jungkook to call and tell him he's working overtime.
Taehyung's phone buzzes and he picks it up.
🌸Kookie🌸:
hey baby don't wait up for me i'll be home soon. get some rest for work in the morning.
:
you know i can't sleep without you|
you know i can't sleep|
you know i|
you|
:
ok
Taehyung threw his phone down on the couch and walks to the room.
He is exhausted but he knows he won't be able to get to sleep without Jungkook here.
He hated that Jungkook felt like he needed to work all the time to support the household.
Taehyung worked at the bakery and made close to the same amount as Jungkook made at that stupid restaurant that was stealing his man away.
Taehyung curls up onto his side of the bed closing his eyes and stares at the back of his eyelids willing the time to go by.
The front door opens after what feels like forever and he hears Jungkook shuffle in.
Taehyung doesn't get up to meet him he just waits for him to come in.
"Yeah. I'll call you back tomorrow. Alright. You too. Bye." Jungkook says quietly as he walks into the room.
Taehyung hears Jungkook's hard work shoes against the floor as he walks over to the bed kneeling on his side and leaning over to him.
"You okay baby?" Jungkook whispers.
"Who were you talking to?" Taehyung asks.
"Nobody. Just a co-worker." Jungkook says kissing the shell of Taehyung's ear before standing up to change his clothes.
"Who?" Taehyung asks again turning to look at Jungkook.
"Seungho. I was just talking to him about covering his shift." Jungkook says stepping out of his shoes.
"Why are you working so much Jungkook?" Taehyung asks sitting up.
"To take care of my baby." Jungkook says removing his tie.
"We both work Jungkook to take care of each other. But you work all the time. If we're both supporting the house you don't have to work so much." Taehyung says pulling his knees to his chest.
Jungkook unbuttons his shirt. "I don't work that much."
"You haven't taken a day off this week. And last week I had to force you to take off Christmas. Christmas Jungkook." Taehyung says but he sounds more sad than upset.
"I know baby but it's not like we couldn't use the money." Jungkook says going through the drawers.
Taehyung sighs. "I just can't stand you being gone all the time. And I hate that you feel pressured to work. I mean. If it'll help I could always pick up more shifts at the bakery~"
"You don't have to do that. Just don't worry about it." Jungkook says grabbing a towel.
"Don't worry about it? Jungkook you're never here. What? You just want me to sit around all day waiting for you?" Taehyung says frowning indignantly.
"Fine. I'll cut back on my hours. Happy?" Jungkook asks throwing his hands up.
"You know what, I don't even care." Taehyung says standing up.
"What do you want me to do?" Jungkook asks stopping halfway to the bathroom.
"I don't care." Taehyung says grabbing his pillow and phone charger.
"Tae~"
"Forget about it, Jungkook." Taehyung says as he leaves the bedroom.
Taehyung hates to argue with Jungkook. The two have grown accustomed to living with each other over the past 2 years and sure they've bumped heads every now and then in the beginning but they were never truly mad.
Taehyung checks his phone. 1:30am.
The restaurant closed at 11:30pm there's no reason he should be getting here at one in the morning. It was ridiculous.
Taehyung grabs the blanket from the back of the couch before laying down.
Jungkook lays in bed staring at the ceiling deep in thought. He hated working so late into the night, it was always hard to settle down at the late hour.
Jungkook checks his phone. 2:03am.
He sits up and gets out of bed. Taehyung had work at seven and Jungkook didn't want him sleeping on the couch.
He walks down the hall and into the living room.
Taehyung lays curled up on the couch covering his face with his blanket.
"Tae?" Jungkook says gently, not trying to wake him but trying to see if he's awake.
When he doesn't respond Jungkook takes the blanket from his body revealing his sweet expression as he sleeps.
Jungkook puts his arms under his legs and back before scooping him up.
Taehyung stirs a little and lays against Jungkook's chest as he carefully carried him down the hall.
Jungkook sighs laying him down on the bed before pulling the cover over him.
"I love you Tae." Jungkook whispers kissing his forehead before walking around the end of the bed and lying down.
-
Taehyung walks into the apartment at around seven and as expected Jungkook isn't there yet.
He sighs dropping his metro card on the counter and untucking his shirt.
That was one of the downsides to leaving home and not telling a soul where he was.
There's was no one to talk to.
Sure there's people from work and he was pretty cool with his manager but other than that he just didn't have anyone.
He was so sick the first few months they left because he missed Hobi terribly and he just wanted to hear his voice but he couldn't call cause of course he'd want to know where he was.
Jungkook was all he had and now he was losing him to work.
Taehyung understood that they needed all the help they could get when it came to their financial situation and he also understood that Jungkook wasn't used to living like this.
All his life he was raised around big houses and fancy cars and absolutely anything he ever desired and now he was living like this.
Check to check and begging the landlord to extend the deadline for the rent every month and eating 89¢ cup noodles most nights.
Taehyung sighs fighting the the tears he feels like crying as he steps out of his shoes and carries them to the room.
He knew it was going to be hard when they left but he at least thought they'd struggle through the hard times together.
Taehyung changed his clothes and laid down on the bed cuddled up with a pillow.
His birthday was tomorrow.
And all he wanted was Hoseok to wake him up at twelve in the morning screaming in his ear about being another year closer to manhood.
Taehyung's first birthday with Jungkook was perfect.
They were still moving from hotel to hotel and getting settled into their jobs. They didn't have a lot of money but the night was still the most special night of their relationship.
Even though they were all over the place --literally-- it was so easy to lose themselves in each other and give themselves completely to each other with a secure heart and trust in one another that they were making pure love, not driven by lust or longing to forget the moment, but by only the love they had for each other.
Taehyung's second birthday was just as great but now he and Jungkook were going on three years of being together and he was a afraid Jungkook was tired of him and it was depressing to think the only person that matters to you if over you.
Taehyung picks up his phone and he dials Hoseok's number like he always does when he's feeling sad, but he doesn't press call, he just stares at the digits and longs for his friend and the closest thing he had to a brother.
The front door opens and Taehyung sits up. "Jungkook-ah?"
"Expecting someone else?" Jungkook calls back walking down the hall.
Taehyung sighs. How many times did he have to remind him to take his shoes off at the door before he got it?
"Jungkook I've told you a million times to~" Taehyung says getting up from the bed but he stops short when he sees the bouquet of roses in Jungkook's arms. "J-Jungkook."
"For you, love." He says handing them over.
"Jungkook how much did these costs?" Taehyung looking at the purple roses.
"Doesn't matter." Jungkook says kissing Taehyung's cheek before walking pass him.
"Jungkook we can't afford~"
"Baby." Jungkook cuts him off as he removes his tie. "Don't worry."
Taehyung searches the flowers for price tag.
"I took the barcode off." Jungkook says changing his shirt.
Taehyung sighs turning to go put the roses in water.
He wishes Jungkook wouldn't do things like this. They needed to save their money for when they actually needed things not for making up after an argument that wasn't even an argument.
Jungkook returns in the kitchen as Taehyung fills up a vase with water.
"After almost three years I'm kind of offended that you've yet to find out what a purple rose signifies." Jungkook says opening the cabinet and taking down a pan to cook in.
"Why don't you just tell me." Taehyung says putting the flowers in the vase and sitting it on the table.
"Look it up buttercup." Jungkook says opening the refrigerator and taking out some chicken.
Taehyung rolls his eyes and walks out of the kitchen and sits in the living room on his phone.
"What do you work tomorrow baby?" Jungkook asks from the kitchen.
"7 to 4." Taehyung sighs laying down on the couch.
Jungkook hums. "I'll pick you up tomorrow. Maybe we can go to dinner or something."
"Alright." Taehyung says not really holding him to it.
After dinner that night they go to bed, exhausted from working early that morning after working late the night before.
Jungkook pulls Taehyung close to him as they lay.
"Can you believe it's been two years?" Jungkook asks. "Almost three."
"I know. It's kinda crazy isn't it?" Taehyung says.
"Mhm." Jungkook hums nuzzling his face in the crook of Taehyung's neck.
"You don't regret leaving, do you?" Taehyung asks, chills running over his body as Jungkook's warm breath hits his neck.
"Not one bit." Jungkook says purposely brushing his lips against Taehyung's neck when he notices his chills.
"You don't wish you would have went to school?" Taehyung asks as his eyes flutter shut.
"Not at all." Jungkook says. "I don't care about anything but being with you. As long as I'm with you I don't care where I am."
Taehyung smiles softly. "You're the best thing that has ever happened to me."
Jungkook smiles before fully kissing Taehyung's neck. "These have been the best two years of my life."
Taehyung turns on his side facing Jungkook so he can kiss him at a better angle.
Jungkook kisses back with a small smile playing on his lips before pulling away. "I love you."
"I love you too."
