Jungkook knocks on Taehyung's apartment door later the next day trying his best to not wear his emotions out on his sleeve.

Taehyung opens the door, smiling when he sees it's Jungkook.

    "Hey." Jungkook smiles as well.

"Hey. I wasn't expecting you." Taehyung says letting Jungkook in.

"Yeah. I meant to text you." Jungkook says.

"Well you're just in time." Taehyung says shutting the door and taking Jungkook by the wrist.

"For what exactly?" Jungkook asks letting Taehyung pull him along.

    "I'm making cookies." Taehyung says.

Jungkook laughs. "For what?"

"To go with my ice cream." Taehyung says matter-of-factly. "I just started a new drama and it calls for everything sweet I can think of."

Jungkook smiles at Taehyung pulls the prepackaged cookies from the refrigerator. "You're cute."

"Don't start." Taehyung says tearing the pack open with his teeth.

Jungkook hops up on the counter swinging his feet.

"What's wrong? You seem down." Taehyung says in concern.

"Nothing. I'm not down." Jungkook says.

Taehyung hums in disbelief but doesn't question him further.

"How'd you sleep last night? I know I didn't call, I don't know how it slipped my mind." Jungkook says changing the subject and focusing the attention on Taehyung.

"I was fine. You don't have to call me every night, Kook. Honestly, I'm fine." Taehyung says with a reassuring glance in Jungkook's direction.

"I can't help but worry when you're not with me." Jungkook says.

"Don't worry." Taehyung says placing the cookie dough on the sheet.

Jungkook hops off the counter and stands behind Taehyung, wrapping his arms around his waist and resting his chin on his shoulder.

Taehyung smiles leaning into his touch.

"I love you." Jungkook says softly into Taehyung's ear.

"I love you too." Taehyung says blushing at his own words.

Jungkook lifts his head and places a soft kiss on Taehyung's cheek.

    "Jungkook-ah." Taehyung says.

    "Hm?" Jungkook asks.

"You know all that stuff I said. In Busan. I didn't mean any of it." Taehyung says turning s little in Jungkook's direction.

    "I know." Jungkook nods.

"So.." Taehyung trails off looking down in slight embarrassment. "You can kiss me."

Jungkook smiles. "Do you want me to kiss you?"

Taehyung nods. "Of course I do. You're my boyfriend."

Jungkook's heart swells a bit as he leans in slowly placing a sweet kiss on Taehyung's lips, allowing Taehyung to kiss him back before pulling away.

Taehyung smiles looking away to set the timer on the oven.

"You're even cuter when you blush like that you know?" Jungkook laughs.

"Stop. You'll only make it worse." Taehyung says pushing Jungkook away to put the cookies in the oven.

"Hey. You know I just realized something." Jungkook says leaning against the counter.

    "What?" Taehyung asks.

"I'm not going to be here for the senior formal." Jungkook says crossing his arms.

"Oh. That's too bad." Taehyung says sympathetically.

"So. Who are you going to go with?" Jungkook asks.

Taehyung shrugs. "I don't plan on going."

"Why?" Jungkook asks. "It's your senior formal."

"I know but. I just don't want to." Taehyung shrugs again.

    "What's the reason?" Jungkook asks.

"No reason. I just don't want to so. I'm not." Taehyung says.

Jungkook chuckles and shakes his head. "Alright."

Taehyung starts to busy himself by tidying the kitchen but Jungkook stops him taking him by both hands.

"Dance with me." He says pulling Taehyung closer to him.

"What?" Taehyung says letting Jungkook lead him to the middle of the small kitchen.

"Dance with me." Jungkook says again.

"I can't dance. And even if I could there's no music." Taehyung says.

"Just follow my lead." Jungkook says putting Taehyung's arms around his neck.

    "Jungkook." Taehyung groans.

Jungkook wraps his arms around his waist, humming as he starts to sway them back and forth.

Taehyung chuckles softly and looks down at their feet being sure not to crush Jungkook's feet.

Jungkook smiles as he watches Taehyung smile softly, his sandy brown hair falling over his eyes as he looks down.

Taehyung's heart flutters when he looks up and meets Jungkook's eyes.

Taehyung loved how the world seemed to disappear around them whenever their eyes met. Like they were the only two that matter in the world, for the moment.

Taehyung looks down again laying his on in the crook of Jungkook's neck and listening to the soft melody he hummed as they held each other.

Jungkook couldn't express his emotions in this moment, he couldn't explain what he was feeling, but he knew that he never wanted be without Taehyung. If forever was possible, he hoped to experience it with Taehyung.

Taehyung was undeniably the love of Jungkook's life, and Jungkook was his.

Jungkook walks into his house later that night after spending the day at Taehyung's.

His father sits in the living room but Jungkook doesn't address him, instead he tries to get by without speaking to him.

"Jungkook." His father calls him just as he reaches the bottom of the stairs.

Jungkook sighs turning and facing his father, bowing respectfully.

"Your mother told me she broke the news." Mr. Jeon says.

Jungkook nods. "She did."

His father gestures to the seat across from him and Jungkook sits keeping his head down.

"I'm so sorry Jungkook. I truly am." Mr. Jeon says.

"I have a hard time believing that." Jungkook says lifting his head to see his father's ever so emotionless eyes.

"You have to try to understand Jungkook." Mr. Jeon says. "Everything happens for a reason."

Jungkook scoffs. "Are you serious?"

"Jungkook." His father says holding up a hand.

Jungkook holds his head down again biting his tongue.

"We raised you to be prepared for this." His father says. "We raised you not to get too attached to anything or anyone. We did that for a reason. So you could be prepared for everything that's about to be thrown your way."

"You guys are my parents. How could I not be attached to you?" Jungkook asks hating how small his voice comes out.

"You have to let it go. We've taught you how to let things go. Haven't we?" Mr. Jeon asks. "By moving. Meeting new people. Leaving those people behind to meet new people. You have to leave the past behind you."

Jungkook doesn't stop the tear that slips down his nose.

"You can't let your emotions get the best of you. Do you understand?" Mr. Jeon asks. "Or else people will walk all over you. Do you understand?"

    "I understand." Jungkook says quietly.

"Look at me." Mr. Jeon says sharply causing Jungkook to look up at him with tearful eyes. "Do you understand?"

Jungkook clenches his jaw and swallows his tears. "I understand."

"If you give something the opportunity to hurt you. It will." Mr. Jeon says.

Jungkook nods sniffling and trying to will his tears away.

"Don't let this hurt you." Mr. Jeon says. "And don't doubt for a minute that me and your mother don't love you. We do. But there's just no room for love in this kind of world."

Jungkook drops his gaze letting his hair fall in front of his eyes.

His father stands sighing and clearing his throat. "Goodnight son."

"Goodnight.. Father."  Jungkook says, his voice straining terribly.

His father leaves him alone and he lets his tears fall freely.

Was there really no room for love when there is success?

Who would want to live in that kind of world?
