Jungkook sat in Namjoon's living room with Hoseok waiting for the eldest boy to join them.
"What's been up with you Jungkook?" Hoseok asks.
"Nothing really. Just summer school." Jungkook says.
"Oh that's right you take online classes." Hoseok says.
"Yeah." Jungkook nods as Namjoon comes from the kitchen holding three cans of coke.
He hands each of the two boys a can before sitting on the couch across from them.
"So what's up?" Jungkook asks Namjoon who invited him over.
"We need a favor from you." Namjoon says. "You don't have to but. We just wanted to ask."
"Okay." Jungkook nods.
"Well. Taehyung's been acting out a lot lately and we're really worried about him. I understand if you don't want to talk to him but. We really think he'd listen to you." Namjoon says.
"What do you mean acting out? Is he okay?" Jungkook asks.
"Yeah but. He's just been getting out of hand lately. And he's not listening to us." Hoseok says.
"Oh. Well of course I'll talk to him. I don't mind speaking to him. But are you sure he wants to speak to me?" Jungkook asks.
"I would think so." Namjoon says.
"Where would I find him?" Jungkook asks.
Namjoon looks to Hoseok to answer the question.
"The underground."
-
Jungkook took a deep breath before getting out of his car.
To say he was nervous was a total understatement. He was already at loss for words and he hadn't even seen Taehyung.
Jungkook walked towards the stairs that lead down to the smokey room.
Jungkook didn't recognize a single person when he first entered the dimly lit room and his heart dropped. How the hell was he supposed I find Taehyung?
"Didn't expect to see you around here."
Jungkook turns to find Taeil smiling brightly for no reason at all.
"Don't tell me.." he says closing his eyes and pretending to think hard. "Jungkook was it?"
"I'm looking for Taehyung." Jungkook says ignoring the boy's nonsense.
"Taehyung?" Taeil says. "Well he's in the back with Tae. Taeyong. That was kinda confusing. I can show you if you want."
"Can you just. Tell him I'm here?" Jungkook asks.
"Sure thing. You gonna wait here?" Taeil asks.
"No. I'll wait outside. Tell him I'm leaving in ten minutes." Jungkook says.
Taeil nods patting Jungkook's shoulder and disappearing in the opposite direction.
Jungkook goes outside and waits at the top of the stairs.
Not long after Jungkook hears someone coming up the stairs.
Jungkook turns his head in time to see Taehyung coming up the stairs.
Taehyung's hair is damp and smells like fresh hair dye and he's dressed in black jeans and an oversized white long sleeve shirt that makes him look like an angel.
But his bloodshot eyes and the dark circles under his eyes make him look cryptic.
"Well look who it is. Jeon Jungkook." Taehyung says looking up from his shoes.
Jungkook doesn't know what to say as he looks down at Taehyung.
"You know, I was almost convinced that you disappeared off the face of the earth." Taehyung says leaning against the railing for support.
"Taehyung." Jungkook starts.
"Jungkook." Taehyung says back pulling his shirt up his shoulder.
"Namjoon called me." Jungkook says.
"I know." Taehyung says.
"You know?" Jungkook asks.
"I know." Taehyung says smiling softly.
Jungkook looks down. "Well. I-I know we haven't talked but. I was still worried about you."
"You don't have to worry about me. Tell you what." Taehyung says running his fingers through his hair. "You just tell Namjoon that I'm good. He can, and Hoseok can just relax and take care of themselves and I'll handle myself. Alright?"
"Tae. Seriously~"
"Why does everyone think I'm joking. I am serious." Taehyung says. "I never asked for them to go out of their way for me. They do that on their own."
"This isn't about them. I came here because I'm worried about you." Jungkook says.
"I already told you not to worry. I'm fine." Taehyung says.
"Look, Taehyung. I just want to talk. Can we talk?" Jungkook asks.
"We're talking." Taehyung says.
"Well can you act like you're actually listening?" Jungkook asks.
Taehyung sighs messing up his hair again. "Go ahead. I'm listening."
"Hoseok's told me about the way you've been acting lately. And I just want to know what's wrong." Jungkook says.
"You? Want to know what's wrong?" Taehyung asks.
"Yes." Jungkook says. "I want to help you."
"Why would you want to help me?" Taehyung asks.
"Because Tae. No matter how much I try to not care. And no matter how much I try to forget about you. I can't help but love you." Jungkook says. "And no matter what I do when I hear your name I always worry. I always worry when you aren't with me."
Taehyung shakes his head as Jungkook speaks. "Stop, Jungkook."
"What? Telling the truth?" Jungkook asks. "I love you, Taehyung."
"We can't be together, Jungkook. Why can't you just accept that?" Taehyung asks.
"Because I know you love me too. And I know you want to be with me." Jungkook says.
"No." Taehyung says.
"Look at me right now Taehyung." Jungkook says.
Taehyung reluctantly lifts his eyes to meet Jungkook's.
"Look me in the face and tell me you don't love me." Jungkook says. "Tell me to go away and never speak to you again and it's done."
Taehyung's jaw clenches as he feels his throat tighten with tears.
"Jungkook..." He starts trying his best not to cry.
Jungkook watches him with a hard expression waiting for him to continue.
Taehyung shakes his head looking down. "It can't work, Jungkook."
"What?" Jungkook asks. "Why not?"
"Because. Y-You can't be like me." Taehyung says wiping the tear that slips down his cheek.
"Like you? What do you mean?" Jungkook asks.
"I'm only doing this because I do love you Jungkook. And I want you to be successful in the future. And I. We. You can't do that with me." Taehyung says.
"What are you talking about?" Jungkook asks his expression softening as he tries to make sense of Taehyung's words.
"Your parents want the best for you and I do too Jungkook." Taehyung says. "That's why I have to go."
"My parents?" Jungkook asks. "What'd they say to you?"
Taehyung shakes his head. "I'm sorry. I can't. I have to go. I'm sorry Jungkook."
"Do something for me Taehyung." Jungkook says.
Taehyung turns to him listening.
"Go home tonight. Please." Jungkook says.
Taehyung's expression is confused but he nods anyway before disappearing back downstairs.
As Jungkook walks back to his car his hands shake in fury.
Whatever his parents said to him he was going to make sure they got a piece of his mind.
-
Jungkook walks into the house and and goes to the kitchen where his parents sit.
"What did you do?" He asks lowly clenching his jaw.
"Jungkook?" His mother says in confusion. "Are you okay honey?"
"What did you do!" Jungkook says a lot louder.
"Jungkook. I think you need to calm down~"
"No. No. What did you say to him? It was you wasn't it?" Jungkook asks turning to his mother. "You knew. You knew and you ran him off! Why?"
"Jungkook." His mother says calmly.
"Start talking. Now." Jungkook says stepping closer to her with clenched fists.
"You need calm down son." Mr. Jeon says standing.
"I love him." Jungkook says trying his best to be calm as he spits the words bitterly. "I love him and that bothers you doesn't it?"
Mrs. Jeon's glare is cold and but it's nothing compared to Jungkook's furious expression.
"Taehyung is the only thing that means anything to me in this world and you want to take that away?" Jungkook asks. "Why?"
"Only family can inherit our business. And if you don't have children no one will inherit it. And if you run around being one of them there's not a chance." Mrs. Jeon says.
"One of them? You just made yourself sound really fucking ignorant." Jungkook says. "And you know something? I'm not even mad. Because I knew. I knew you wouldn't like it. That's why I didn't tell you. I wasn't going to ever tell you. Because I knew you'd try to take it away like you take everything else. But I won't let you. You can have the stupid business. I don't care about it. But I won't let you take him away from me. So you can either except it. Or forget about me."
"Jungkook. You're speaking nonsense now really." Mr. Jeon says.
"No. I'm telling you what's real. You may have married for the sake of this stupid empire but I refuse to let this control the way I live any longer." Jungkook says. "I like a boy. I love a boy. And he loves me. And if you can't accept me. Then I'll leave. And you can have all of this."
"You won't be able to support yourself without this business Jungkook. Or that boy you think love." Mrs. Jeon says.
Jungkook laughs. "I rather live averagely with him, than lavishly without."
Silence falls over the room as Jungkook's parents glare angrily at him.
"Once you walk out you don't get to come back in." Mr. Jeon says.
"I never wanted it, Dad." Jungkook says. "You guys need me. I'm not here for you, you're here for me. There's no one else to inherit the business but me."
Mrs. Jeon looks like she's seen a ghost as the words leave Jungkook's mouth.
"You didn't raise a total idiot." Jungkook says.
"You don't know what you're doing Jungkook." Mr. Jeon says.
"Of course I do." Jungkook says looking at his father. "You taught me."
Jungkook looks back to his mother. "I know you don't care. But you've hurt me more than you know. And I'll never forgive you."
Jungkook turns and leaves the kitchen going up to his room and shutting the door.
