Taehyung lays on his bed looking at the letters he wrote to his friends after that horrible night.
That night seemed so long ago but the memory is still etched into his mind.
His handwriting was lazy and the words were smudged from the excessive amount of crying he did while writing.
He wants to leave this part of him in the past but he knows that he can't.
He'll carry the burden wherever he goes.
His phone buzzes and it's a message from Jungkook tell him he's outside.
Taehyung drops the stack of letters on his bed and pulls his shoes on before heading out.
"I'm going with Jungkook." Taehyung calls to Jakyung as he leaves.
Taehyung closes the door behind him and skips down the steps pausing to catch his breath before walking to the car.
Jungkook leans against the passenger door looking down at his phone.
Taehyung smiles.
They hardly ever saw each other outside of their school uniform and Jungkook looked sweet dressed in his casual civilians.
Taehyung clears his throat getting Jungkook's attention.
"Hey." Jungkook smiles widely when he sees him.
"Hey." Taehyung says back. "You look nice."
Jungkook looks down at his outfit and shrugs. "Doesn't beat how good you look."
Taehyung chuckles self-consciously messing with his hair.
Jungkook smiles and opens the passenger door holding out a hand to help Taehyung in.
"You're too much." Taehyung says taking Jungkook's hand.
After helping Taehyung into the car Jungkook gets in.
"Where are we going?" Taehyung asks.
"It's a surprise." Jungkook says.
"I hate surprises." Taehyung says.
"Noted. I'll surprise you more often." Jungkook says.
Taehyung smiles and rolls his eyes.
Jungkook turns the radio up to compensate for the silence.
After about five minutes Taehyung gets an idea of where they're going.
"I know." Taehyung says.
"I know." Jungkook says as he pulls onto the side road.
"Why?" Taehyung asks.
Jungkook shrugs parking the car. "Just thought we could get away for a while. Together."
-
Taehyung is impressed with the set up Jungkook has made in the clearing.
A blanket sits in the middle along with one of those picnic baskets Taehyung has ever only seen on TV.
Taehyung follows Jungkook to the blanket and they both sit down.
"This is really nice Jungkook." Taehyung compliments.
"Thanks." Jungkook says smiling and pulling out some of the food. "I talked to Hoseok and he told me some of your favorites."
Taehyung nods and watches Jungkook pulls out the food.
"Wow." Taehyung says picking up the bag of honey butter chips. "He really knows me."
Jungkook laughs.
They sit there for almost two hours just pigging out and talking about nothing and everything.
"I'm glad you finally agreed to go out with me." Jungkook says as they lay looking up at the clouds.
"I am too." Taehyung says.
Jungkook speaks after a beat of silence. "I really like you a lot Tae."
Taehyung looks over at Jungkook who still looks up squinting against the sunlight.
"I'm such a mess Jungkook." Taehyung sighs looking up as well.
"A beautiful mess." Jungkook says.
Taehyung smiles a little as his face heats up. "I don't think so."
"I do." Jungkook says. "You're so beautiful to me."
Taehyung laughs. "Alright."
"What?" Jungkook asks looking at him.
"Nothing. I'm just not good with compliments." Taehyung says sitting up.
"You'll get used to it." Jungkook smiles looking up at him. "Beautiful."
"Okay. Now you're just making me mad." Taehyung says even though he still smiles like an idiot and covers his face.
Jungkook laughs and sits up as well.
"I want you to know." Jungkook says.
Taehyung smiles. "You're too sweet."
Jungkook smiles as well as Taehyung starts to clean up the trash.
Jungkook helps and they both stand up to fold the blanket.
"Let's go to mine." Jungkook says as they walk down the hill.
"Okay." Taehyung agrees.
Jungkook throws the stuff in the backseat after opening Taehyung's door.
Somehow they end up on the topic of K-drama's and they both find out they are obsessed with I Am Not A Robot.
They also talk about how overrated Descendents of the Sun was.
"It was still good." Jungkook argues.
"It wasn't all that." Taehyung shrugs.
Taehyung loves how easy it feels to talk to Jungkook and finds himself laughing and talking without feeling like he needed to act a certain way. Or be a certain way.
He was the only other person besides Hoseok that he felt like he could be himself around.
"You think a lot." Jungkook says breaking Taehyung out of his thoughts.
"Hm?" Taehyung says.
"You overthink things." Jungkook says.
"I guess that's just the type of person I am." Taehyung shrugs.
"Live in the moment." Jungkook says.
"It's hard to live in the moment." Taehyung says.
"Try." Jungkook says.
"How?" Taehyung asks.
"Don't think about anything that's not about right now." Jungkook says.
"That's impossible." Taehyung says.
"No it's not. I'm doing it right now." Jungkook says.
"What are you thinking about then?" Taehyung says.
"Being here with you. Right here. Right now." Jungkook says. "What are you thinking about?"
"Honest?" Taehyung asks.
"Yeah." Jungkook nods.
"I'm thinking about how much I actually like you." Taehyung says.
"Really?" Jungkook smiles.
"Really." Taehyung says.
"That's good. I like you too." Jungkook says.
Taehyung laughs awkwardly. "I'm sorry. I'm just really awkward when it comes to stuff like this. So just bear with me."
"It's okay. We can be awkward together." Jungkook says.
"Okay." Taehyung smiles looking out the window.
He hasn't been this happy in a long time.
It felt good.
-
"You're cheating." Taehyung complains looking at his cards.
"How can I be cheating?" Jungkook asks.
"You keep winning." Taehyung says.
"Because I'm good." Jungkook says.
"It's a game of chance. You can't just be good. You're not shuffling the cards right." Taehyung says.
"Do you want to shuffle?" Jungkook asks.
"No. We've been playing this for like three hours." Taehyung says throwing his cards down and standing from the living room floor.
"Aw. You aren't a sore loser are you Tae?" Jungkook asks collecting the cards.
"Course not." Taehyung says plopping down on the sofa.
"Salty." Jungkook sing-songs.
"Hey." Taehyung says throwing one of the decorative pillows at Jungkook. "Shut up."
Jungkook dodges the pillow. "Hey. Just because it's called a throw pillow doesn't mean you actually throw it."
"You're lame." Taehyung laughs.
"That I am." Jungkook says throwing the pillow back.
Taehyung catches it and places it back on the sofa.
"Let's watch a movie." Taehyung says grabbing the remote from the coffee table.
Jungkook sits next to Taehyung holding one of the throw pillows in his lap. "What movie?"
"I don't know." Taehyung says clicking away on the remote.
"What are you doing?" Jungkook laughs.
"I don't know." Taehyung says again.
Jungkook takes the remote and goes to Netflix.
"Oh. What Happened to Monday is really good." Taehyung says pointing the movie out on the screen.
Jungkook clicks the film and they start to watch it.
Jungkook complains the whole time about it being 'unrealistic' saying if it was up to him he'd kill off the other six siblings and live on happily.
"That's not the point. Yeah. That's what Monday did and you see what happened to her." Taehyung says.
"She was pregnant. She did the right thing." Jungkook says.
"She should've just told them and they would have figured it out. Not try to get off on her own." Taehyung says.
Jungkook shakes his head. "Alright. But you'd do the same thing if you were pregnant."
"If I was pregnant I'd have some serious concerns." Taehyung says laughing at himself.
Jungkook laughs reaching and grabbing his phone from the coffee table.
"It's late." Jungkook says. "Wanna crash here?"
"Not even through our first date and we're already staying at each other's houses. Don't you have morals?" Taehyung jokes.
"Do you want me to take you home?" Jungkook asks smiling at Taehyung's ridiculous statement.
"No." Taehyung says. "Since I'm already here."
"Yeah. I thought so." Jungkook laughs standing up.
"Where are your parents Kook?" Taehyung asks standing as well.
"Busan." Jungkook says. "Some business stuff."
"Oh. For how long?" Taehyung asks following Jungkook up the stairs.
"A week at the least." Jungkook says. "They travel there a lot since that's where we're from."
Taehyung hums and continues to follow Jungkook.
"You're welcome to stay with me tonight. Or the guess room. Doesn't matter." Jungkook says.
"I'll stay." Taehyung says.
Jungkook smiles and goes to find some clothes for Taehyung.
When he does find a pair of pajama pants and a hoodie he turns to hand them to him.
"I had fun today Tae." Jungkook says.
"I did too. Thank you for everything Jungkook. Really." Taehyung says taking the clothes.
"My pleasure." Jungkook smiles.
Taehyung smiles a little before leaning up and pecking Jungkook's cheek.
Both the boys blush profusely as Taehyung turns and goes to the bathroom to change.
