Taehyung sits at the lunch table with Hoseok and Jungkook that day.
Usually Taehyung would skip lunch to talk to some guy or do whatever but he doesn't now.
Sex used to be something so beautiful to him before and now it's just a scarred memory he wishes he could erase.
He wished he would have chose a better life for himself before instead of abusing sex like a drug and not having any morals.
"What are you thinking about blondie?" Hoseok asks ruffling Taehyung's hair.
"It's not blonde." Taehyung groans brushing his hands over his hair.
Hoseok laughs. "It's cute. What made you dye it?"
Taehyung shrugs. "I don't know. I just wanted to be different."
Hoseok nods. "That's good. It looks good."
"Thanks." Taehyung says glancing at Jungkook who is smiling for some reason.
Taehyung looks back down at the table.
"Wanna do something later?" Hoseok asks continuing to stuff his face with chips he bought in the cafeteria.
"Um. I don't know." Taehyung says.
"You have plans?" Hoseok asks.
"Yeah. But it's not like that. I just have so much work to catch up on and everything so." Taehyung says avoiding Hoseok's eyes.
"You know that I can tell when you're lying right?" Hoseok says.
"I'm not. I've been out for a week and I still have work from before then so." Taehyung says.
"So what?" Jungkook asks holding in a laugh.
Taehyung looks up. "What?"
"You keep saying 'so'. 'So' what?" Jungkook asks.
"So...no. I can't hangout after school. And I want be home in case my dad comes back s-." Taehyung cuts himself off before another 'so' slips from his lips.
Jungkook and Hoseok burst into a fit of laughter leaning on each other for support as they both become weak.
"Alright alright." Taehyung says shaking his head at his friends.
"C-Come on Taehyung. You know that's funny." Hoseok says wiping his tears.
"Yeah. Alright." Taehyung says cracking the smallest smile.
"Please hang with us. We've missed you all week Tae." Jungkook says.
Taehyung sighs. "I'm-. Okay. Alright fine."
"Yes! You guys can come to mine." Hoseok says happily.
Taehyung smiles a little. "Alright."
Jungkook and Hoseok continue to chatter excitedly about something while Taehyung just looks down drawing patterns on the table.
The bell rings dismissing them from lunch and the three of them stand.
"My history class got moved to West wing so I can't walk with you guys today." Jungkook says.
"Alright. I'll see you after school." Hoseok says.
"Alright. Hey Tae. Do you need a ride to Hoseok's?" Jungkook asks.
"Um yeah." Taehyung says.
"Cool. Meet me in the student parking lot when the bell rings." Jungkook says.
"Alright. Thanks Jungkook." Taehyung says.
"Later guys." Jungkook says before rushing off to class.
Taehyung turns to Hoseok who now holds a serious expression.
"What?" Taehyung asks already knowing he's in trouble.
"Cut the bullshit Taehyung and tell me what the hell is going on with you." Hoseok says his strict side showing.
"I-. Nothing. It's okay. I mean I'm okay." Taehyung says.
"And stop lying to me. It's me. I'm your best friend Tae." Hoseok says his voice a pitch higher from the hurt he feels.
"I know. I know Hobi." Taehyung says.
"Then tell me what it is. You can tell me anything." Hoseok says.
"You won't understand." Taehyung says.
"How can you say that? I always understand. You know me. I'm an understanding person." Hoseok says.
Taehyung sighs.
Hoseok was his best friend. He told him everything. Absolutely everything no matter how awkward or touchy the subject was.
He never hesitated to tell anything to Hoseok because he knew he'd keep it to himself, unless it was really serious, then he'd talk to Jin and Namjoon.
But this was different.
He said no one would believe him.
What if he was right. What if Hoseok thought he was lying.
How could Taehyung, who was known around the school for having sex, be forced into it?
The only reason people know his name was because he was the school's so called "fuckboy".
"What are you thinking? Tell me." Hoseok says when he sees the distant look in Taehyung's eyes.
"I can't tell you." Taehyung says lowering his voice. "Can you just. Trust that I'll tell you when I'm ready?"
Hoseok frowns. "You know I trust you Taehyung."
"It's just. I haven't fully accepted it myself I don't think." Taehyung says looking down and swallowing hard.
"I trust you. Don't worry about it." Hoseok says. "Still come to mine after school."
"I will." Taehyung says nodding.
"Come on." Hoseok says smiling and throwing his arm over Taehyung's shoulders.
Taehyung smiles a little and let's Hoseok lead him to class.
-
Taehyung stands in his room looking down at the letter with Hobi's name on it.
Was he ready for this? No.
But did he have to? Yes.
Hoseok is all Taehyung has in the world and he can't let this come between them.
As much as it hurt. And as humiliating as it was he needed to tell someone.
He felt like he was going insane keeping everything inside.
Everytime his mind would flashback to that night he wished he could just go to Hoseok and let his best friend take care of him.
Taehyung felt selfish when he thought like that. But it was true.
He needed someone and he didn't trust anyone.
"Let's make this nice and quick okay honey?" Suho says.
"P- please. S-stop. Suho." Taehyung cries.
"Stop it Taehyung." Taehyung says to himself, his hands trembling as he grips the letter.
He needed to tell Hoseok.
Even if Hoseok didn't believe him.
Taehyung heard the front door open and his heart stops.
"Taehyung!" His father calls for him.
Taehyung lets out a breath before hiding the note under his pillow and leaving his room.
"Appa. You're home." Taehyung says hoping that his happiness to see his father would soften whatever blow he was about to receive.
"I need to talk to you about something Taehyung." His father says gesturing for him to join him at the kitchen table.
Taehyung feels a bit relieved when he sees he's not drunk. "What is it Appa?"
"I'm going to rehab." His father says.
"Okay." Taehyung nods.
His father has had this conversation with Taehyung so many times now that he doesn't every take it seriously.
"I'm serious this time. I've been sober for a week." His father says. "A good friend of mine has been helping me. And thanks to her I'm finally ready to get the proper help I need to manage my anger and alcohol addiction."
"Her?" Taehyung asks.
"Yes." His father says. "I love her and I'm willing to get better for her."
"Oh." Taehyung says. "That's... That's something."
"I've always wanted the best for you. And she's the best for you. She's so loving and she cares about you so much even though you haven't met." His father says.
Taehyung looks up at his father and for the first time in a long time he sees some type of emotion behind his eyes.
"That's... I'm happy for you." Taehyung says looking down.
"While I'm in rehab you'll have to stay with her." His father says.
"What? Why can't I stay here?" Taehyung asks.
"I already left a notice and paid the last of the rent." His father says.
"I'm not staying there." Taehyung says. "I'll stay with Hoseok or something but I'm not staying there."
"Please son. I want you guys to get to know each other." His father says.
"Why would I want to know her? You picked her. Over me." Taehyung says standing.
"Why do you have to think like that?" His father asks.
"It's the truth. I've asked you, I've begged you to go to rehab and you never listened. And when she says it you just do it?" Taehyung asks.
"I'm doing it for you too Taehyung. I'm doing this for our family." His father says.
"She's not your family. I am." Taehyung says.
"That's enough. I just wanted you to know." His father says.
Taehyung shakes his head. "Thanks."
"You need to have everything packed by Wednesday. That's when the lease runs out." His father says. "I think you'll really like Jakyung."
Taehyung ignores his father and goes upstairs to his room.
No matter how much his father thought Jakyung was good for him.
She'd never be his mother.
