A life marred by sorrow and scorn need not dissuade you from happiness. One may find peace amongst wolves, and strife amongst sheep, should their interactions differ from the expected. Do not fear your husband, My Lady. Accept his guiding hand, and let his gods bless you and your child, and, should he ask it of you, eat of his food and drink of his wine.
I know that this path is far from easy, but only when you have eaten of his flesh and blood will you be truly safe from harm. Is this not, after all, how he grows close to his gods?
- Father A.G. Bele to the Lady Lillian Van Wyk, 1398
