Swaps Airport

A high ceiling room with white walls and glossy tiled floors gleamed back at me. On the far wall were big screens with times and destinations on them and what looked like a check-in counter. But what really stood out were the people. Children ran around using water powers to spray each other or making themselves disappear. Teenagers played on phones or ran up to one another with excitement, there was even one boy casually spinning a mini tornado on his finger while reading a book. Adults conversed or talked on phones while stressing about times or about how their kid just set their pants on fire. There were all kinds of species; saytrs, centaurs, elementals, magicians and witches, vampires, shape shifters, sirens, elves, everything you could have imagined. It felt like I had tumbled into a fairytale I was read when I was younger.
All these different species made me think; what was I? Me and Mum were talking about this but we still haven't figured out if I was an elemental or not, it was odd. I walked towards the check-counter, creatures pushing me and causing me to stumble but I finally made it. A male elf with large pointy ears stood there checking his computer before looking up and giving me a smile.
"Hi, how can I help you?"
I handed him my ticket and got my bags checked before heading to the waiting area, a large rectangular room with a couple food places and cafes in the centre surrounded by tables and chairs. I grabbed myself a salad sandwich and a coffee from a small cafe and sat down in the corner alone. The place was crowded with students for 2E, all different ages, some in uniforms, some in casual clothes. I had jeans and a crop top on, comfortable but cute aswell. There were groups already formed; in the corner opposite me was a group in uniforms with textbooks and notebooks out. The corner next to them were a group in casual just chatting and eating. The corner opposite them were students with a mix of uniforms and casual, on computers or reading quietly. There were groups forming everywhere, making me feel even lonelier. A couple tables over were a group of girls, three of them, all absolutely stunning. They wore designer clothing, had perfect skin and beautiful hair. Two of them had similarities and I assumed they were twins. The third stood up and walked towards the bathroom and I quit staring and looked back at my food.
"Hey!"
I heard a shout but knew it wasn't aimed at me so I continued eating.
"Hey! Girl in the corner, can you hear me?"
I looked up and saw the twins smiling and waving me over. Shiitake mushrooms, what do I do? I guess there was no harm in making some acquaintances. I stood up with my food and walked towards their table. One of the twins patted an empty seat and I sat down and set my food on the table.
"Hi, I'm Melodine and this is my sister, Talorine." One of them told me with a grin. They both had shiny ebony hair and delicate ivory skin with no blemishes. Their pale sea blue eyes had a sparkle in them as though the sun was shining on the ocean. Though Melodine had a blue streak in her hair whereas Talorine had a purple streak. They wore expensive looking crop tops, jackets and shorts or skirts with boots that were probably worth more then my life.
"Hey, I'm Luci." I smiled and felt like a piece of crap with these goddesses sitting in front of me.
"Are you a elemental or something?" Talorine asked after taking a sip of ice coffee. I went to say yes but then remembered that mum had said that they would decide soon.
"We don't really know yet, I'm kinda a mystery," I replied, "if you don't mind me asking, what are you?"
They looked at each other and smiled, "we are sirens, daughters of Poseidon." Talorine proudly exclaimed.
"Wow, I've never met sirens before, that's really cool." I grinned and went back to the remainder of my sandwich. I felt the air shift next to me and looked to see the other girl sit back down. If I thought the other two were pretty, this siren was gorgeous. Her tan skin was clear besides a light spray of freckles on the bridge of her nose. Her  light brown hair was glossy and naturally but also perfectly wavy and had blond tips with a single blue-green streak. Her mesmerising eyes were the colour of her hair with what looked like oceans, lakes and ponds in it, forming beautiful pictures. Her designer floral dress and flats looked incredible. She smiled warmly at me.
"Hello, I'm Arasis, literal daughter of Poseidon." She fake glared at the twins.
"Oh woah, um, so you are a princess?" I stuttered. Great, I meet a princess without knowing and then make a fool of myself. To my surprise she laughed and nodded, "yes, I am princess of the sea but that's fine, please don't be one of those people who fall to the ground and apologise for ages," she smiled with a glint of mischievousness in her eye, "so, who are you?"
I exhaled a breath I didn't know I had been holding and finally relaxed.
"I'm Luci, I can do stuff with fire." I blurted out. She laughed.
"So you're an elemental?" She assumed. I shook my head.
"We have no idea, I'll find out soon though." She nodded and began converse with the twins. It felt good to meet people, or sirens, who could possibly be good friends of mine. I joined in the conversation and enjoyed the trios company.

After around an hour of chatting and introductions our plane was finally called. The girls introduced me to a group of dragon boys who couldn't stop flirting with them, not me, just them. They explained that they were only 14 and this was also their first year but Arasis had visited the school with her dad when he came for meetings. The girls had only become friends a few months before now at their previous underwater school. We walked through the airport to our plane and lined up to begin boarding. I have always been okay with heights but I would prefer to have my feet planted firmly on the ground. We walked at a slow pace in the line before finally reaching the plane. We boarded the plane and found our cabin. The plane was split into cabins that hold 4-8 students so Talorine, Melodine, Arasis and I bunked together. It was a small room with a pair of bunk beds on either side of the room next to the windows and there were seats like on a normal plane. It was only a short ride so there was no point for the bunks but it's what we got anyway. When the plane took off we had silently assigned our own areas, Arasis on her bunk bed listening to music, Talorine in the corner chair playing a game on her phone, Melodine reading a book about a saytr and a siren falling in love and I had taken my bunk next to the window so I could see everything. As we went up there was nothing, just sky, until finally after 20 minutes I caught a glimpse of around 50 portals ahead. They were like shimmering mirrors that had pictures of the places inside. We made a sharp turn towards one and went through it before reaching the other side. The pilots voice came over the speaker:
"Students of 2E, we have made it to Imumnora and we will be arriving at 2E shortly."
Talorine stood up and stretched, "finally, at least it isn't as though we were traveling to Aitian, that flight takes forever."
"What is Aitian?" I asked curiously.
"Aitian is the capital of Origin, home of Queen Yusin and her husband Kogi."Arasis replied. " but once you go through it's portal, it's a two day flight until you get to the palace."
I nodded and looked back out the window to ponder about what the palace would look like when 2E came into sight.
Five huge sandstone buildings came into sight, all surrounded around one big sandstone building with stain glass windows and giant arches. This was all surrounded by grass with cobble stone pathways leading to a deep blue river that stretched for as far as I could see and more paths led towards what looked like a dormitory building, an indoor arena that was a large glass dome and an outdoor arena with a white fence and a few more buildings I didn't know what held. There were trees everywhere, no doubt they could probably talk, and a far spread bush was on the other side of the river.
The plane lowered slowly and I started to panic when it looked like we were heading towards the river. I looked at the other girls but they seemed so chill about it. We were going to impact in three. two. never mind, I thought as we stopped in mid air. We picked our bags up and put them in a large container to be put in our rooms.
We walked towards the exit where a long ladder descended to the ground next to the river and a few seniors began to lead us up the pathways towards the school.  They told us the name of the river was Clamelz Canal and it went through all the realms. As I suspected, when we walked past a tree it would turn its head to get a look at you but as soon as you noticed and looked directly at them they would turn away and act like you didn't see them. The 50 or so first years  walked up the pathway as the rest of the students walked to the dorms and we finally saw the school up close for the first time. The five sandstone buildings were connected by archways or courtyards with ivy curling all over them. The centre building, Onyx Hall is what we were told it was called, was three storeys tall with massive windows. The ivy was curling up the walls and the seniors told us the first storey was the cafeteria, the second was the study hall, and the third was the school dance hall. We were told that the 5 buildings were classrooms, multiple rooms in each building. We were led to an outdoor arena with weapons attached to the gate around it and were told to sit. Next to the outdoor arena was an indoor pool and indoor fighting arena. The arenas and pool opened at 5 am and closed at 5pm. A bit away was were chosen subjects were held that we would pick, classes like agriculture, art, battle and extension magic. The seniors stopped talking and a tall, thin woman walked towards us. She had long red hair, a pale complexion and wore a floor length emerald gown. But what really amazed me were her eyes. They were a blinding white, showing wisdom and experience and obviously indicating she was blind.
"Welcome first year students, I am Madame Edraele, headmistress here at 2E academy. I hope that you find your time here educational and interesting." She gave a small smile before nodding to the seniors again.
"Okay," a brunette said, "it's time to read out dorm room partners."
She began listing names.
"Melodine and Talorine in dorm 4, Aly and Delilah in dorm 5, Arasis and Luci in dorm 6."
I smiled at Arasis and she grinned back. Thank goodness I didn't have to meet someone new.
"Erik and Jasper dorm 31, and that's it, now go to your dorm and meet your roommate. Dinner is in two hours at 6." Me and Arasis started walking when I heard an annoyed and familiar voice behind me. Oh god, please no. I turned to Arasis.
"I'll be back, just need to go clarify the arena times." I hoped she would just let it go but I had already sped towards the voice before she gave an answer.
One of the teachers was scolding him, "Jasper, this is your last chance, I don't want you throwing ice shards at anymore vases."
"Fine Miss, I won't break anything else." Blue eyes began walking towards me and caught sight of me.
"Oh shit, it's you," he growled.
"I could say the same thing about you," I glared holes into his head. "What the hell are you doing here?"
He raised his eyebrows, "I happen to be an ice dragon, what are you here for, to light the candles?"
Two can play at that, "oh, hey Elsa, where's Ana?"
He glared at me, shooting daggers, "Well, you're a little spitfire aren't you?"
I smirked, "unlike you, ice queen, I know how to burn. See ya Elsa." And with that, I walked to my dormitory, trying not to burst out laughing.
I found dorm 6 at the top of the first years dormitory surprisingly, but I was happy because it means we get the view of the whole school. I knocked and Arasis opened the door.
"Hey, come in." I walked in and she handed me a key, "Here is the room key." I thanked her and looked around. The room was large and had two double beds either side of the door with bedside tables for each. A floor length window was covering the front of the room that looked out onto the river and arenas. A bookshelf was on my side of the room next to a door into what I assumed was the bathroom. On Arasis' side was a double door into the closet with all our uniforms in it. There were two chairs and a small coffee table in front of the window. On the other side of our beds, opposite the beside tables were plain white desks to match all the white furniture. This was the cutest, plainest room in the world. I turned to Arasis, "I think we have some decorating to do."
She grinned, "best thing about being a siren is that we are part mage. We can transfigured and summon things at will." I smiled, "let's get to work then."
An hour later Arasis and I had made our room perfect. The bookshelf was packed with all our favourite books and organised into colour, topic and who it belonged to. Our bed covers matched our powers perfectly. Arasis had a wide range of different blue scales with a cute fish pillow. My cover was pitch black with flames on it and had a black pillow with a flaming rose on it. On our dressers were out current books, lamps in black with gold, our phones on charge and a photo of our families. Arasis had a photo of her with Poseidon and her Mum, Oceania, and I had one with Mum. The chairs had pillows on them and the table had a stack of magazines and empty coffee mugs and crumb filled paper bags that previously held chocolate chip cookies that we got delivered from a cafe that was just off campus. I had found out that in Imumnora there were city's and towns, one of them just outside the school. Our desks had our school bags and books on them with our laptops and stationary. Mirrors now hung above them. The closet now had our clothes in them. A notice board hung outside our door with Arasis and Luci's room written on it.
We both sat on our beds and chatted while scrolling through our social media's and listening to music. And if you were wondering, the origins had technically stolen the idea of phones, technology and wifi. I was glad because I loved my phone to much to part with it. It just didn't connect to the human world, so I couldn't text Mum or go through peoples Instagram at my old school. We talked until the bell rang for dinner and we headed down the winding staircase with the other students. The inside of the dorms was mostly timber and had three floors. The walls were sandstone with pictures of past students, teachers and the school. Talorine, Melodine, Arasis and I chatted about our thoughts on the school and our dorms on the way to the cafeteria.
"Our room is literally just purple and blue," Talorine said as we lined up for food. The cafeteria was a big high ceiling room with circular tables that could seat over ten people or small ones that could only seat five. We chatted about how cool it was to be able to decorate our rooms ourselves and about the different realms. We sat down with our food, lasagna and salad, when I felt something run into me and liquid spill onto me. I swung my head around and saw Jasper stifling a laugh a couple meters away. He had rammed into me, spilling water on my shirt. Despite the cold wall dripping down my neck, a huge wave of hot red anger hit me and I stood up, crimson spreading quickly up my arms. The entire room gasped and I forgot my anger and instead freaked out, my head spinning out of control. The red disappeared and I sat down and put my head in my hands. When I looked up Jasper stood staring at me with his eyes wide and mouth open. Arasis stood up and shouted at everyone.
"Go back to your dinner, and you," she narrowed her eyes on Jasper, "leave Luci alone."
He walked to his table and sat down before giving me a look that screamed 'you're a freak'. I didn't get it, wasn't this normal? If I was an elemental then this would be normal. The girls must have sensed this, another thing sirens could do was sense emotions, and Melodine spoke up.
"That isn't normal elemental behaviour, Luci." She told me with a small tremble in her lip, "it's not the best sign."
The girls started talking again and I tried to join in but it was hard when my mind was crowded with questions and zero answers. Once dinner was over we walked back to our dorms in the dark, the stars shining bright and the moon gleaming. When we walked past Jasper and his friends I made sure I rammed my shoulder into his before continuing the walk. We climbed the stairs again and Arasis and I said goodnight to the twins and went into our room. We changed into our pjs and sat on our beds, Arasis texting her dad to say she likes the school and everything is okay here and I was on my laptop buying some new music that Arasis had recommended. They were songs from the Origin World and they were so catchy. Arasis finished texting her dad and had opened up her book, reading it while I played some music and read my own. We ended up yawning in sync so I checked the time. 9:43 pm. I suggested we go to bed now so we could explore tomorrow so we said goodnight turned the lights out. I tried to sleep but stayed awake till I heard Arasis' breath settle. I attempted to relax and just float into sleep but the questions just kept coming. Why did I do that tonight? Where does my true power lie? Who will tell me or show me? When will I know? What am I?

Hey guys, here is another chapter for you, hope you enjoyed. I am updating early because I will be updating two chapters hopefully this week because I will be on holidays next week. Please leave a comment if you are on team jasper, a vote for team Luci and both if you like the book so far!
Until next time, that's all folks.
