Paper Planes

I don't care what day it is, when I hear that alarm go off in the morning, I die a little inside. But what makes it worse is a throbbing headache and minimal sleep. I snoozed the alarm with force, and screamed into my pillow. Rolling out of bed and pulling on some sweat pants, I walked downstairs to fetch some coffee. All my no sleep ladies, can we bow our heads and say a silent prayer of thanks to god for providing us with coffee. I stumbled to the pantry to grab the coffee but after a few seconds of fumbling around for it, I couldn't find it. I hesitatingly opened my eyes and narrowed them when I found no coffee can.
Oh lord, no.
"MUM!" I shouted through the house.
I turned around and found a sticky note on the fridge:
Luci, I've gone to work early and I won't be home till midday, but I will be asleep because I have a night shift. Dinner is in the fridge. Love mumma xx
Next to it was a bench with an empty coffee can. I took a deep breathe, calming myself the best I could before climbing the stairs to get changed.
Once I was finally out of the house I walked to the bus stop to see the bus already there. I kept walking faster. Don't you dare, I thought, don't even think abou- MOTHER OF GOD. The bloody bus driver closed the door and drove away. Fantastic, just brilliant. I pulled out my earphones and waited. The next bus arrived. 15 minutes later. I hopped on and took a seat. I daydreamed about random stuff the whole way before running of the bus and to my first class. I got there just in time and sat down, zoning in and making sure I took plenty of notes.
The bell rung for second period and I shuffled out of the classroom, my face in a permanent glare. I walked into history and took my books out before sitting down and resting my head in my hands. I kept my head down as other students filed in followed by the door closing. The teacher begin talking about a test we had previously and how disappointed he was at our results. Obviously he wasn't talking about me. I had a solid A in this class and I studied for hours to make sure my grade didn't slip. He started handing out tests, as everyone saw their grade their faces dropped and shock replace the look of hope they previously wore. My teacher arrived on my desk and handed me my paper, no smile to restore my hope not even a thumbs up to show I shouldn't be worried. Nothing. I slowly looked down and saw my grade. C plus. What. WHAT. I studied for so many hours on this test and I get a goddamn C plus? I almost asked if there was a mistake on my test. But I realise that there was no mistake. I was the one who made a mistake. Once all the papers were handed out he started talking about a new topic we were starting. I took notes on everything he said and told myself that I will rewrite my paper and have sir mark it on Monday. Class finally finished and I made my way to the library. A girl running through the corridors ran into me. I fell and hit my head on the lockers. She looks back and glared,"watch it freak, I have places to be!" Everyone laughed with her as I felt my face redden. But of course my snarky side had to visit.
"If you slowed your ass down and didn't run into me maybe I could trip you instead."
The entire corridor went silent. She flipped her hair and strutted (yes, strutted) towards me.
"I'm sorry, I don't speak freak, wanna repeat that in normal language?"
Oh, that was it. A pit of anger built up in my stomach, so i did what my gut told me was the right way to handle this.
I threw a punch.
She backed up, blood dripping from her nose. But I wasn't done. I stood up, not seeing crimson spread over my arms like a second skin. I aimed for her neck, my hands barely reaching before my fingertips brushed her hair and immediately burnt the tips off. Well shit. The orange flames spread up her hair as she screamed. Someone tipped a bottle of water over her head as the witnesses stood there, eyes nearly popping out of they're heads. I have to admit, through all the chaos, this was hilarious. I let out laugh before realising that my hands had flames attached to them. My arms and legs were red as tomatoes and I looked like I had a terrible sunburn. A few strands of blonde hair were over my shoulder, although they now had red streaks in it as well as some orange. I stepped back, a quiver in my lip. I hit a glass door and spun around, seeing nothing but a monster. A freak. A devil. Tears filled my eyes as I realise this freak was me. I ran to the closest exit as my legs, arms and hair started restoring its natural colour.

I ran as fast as I could, no destination in my mind, tears running down my face. I stopped and looked around. I was in the middle of a quiet road with houses at my left and right, a corner store and a small cafe twenty metres away. I ran into the cafe 'Avo Smash' and a waitress approached me.
"Can I have a glass of water?" I panted.
"Sure, hon." She smiled and walked off.
I sat in a corner seat and observed the cafe. It was small, only the size of a bedroom. There were candles everywhere and small two person tables with antique chairs. A few people sat eating or drinking while reading or doing work on laptops. A young couple sat at the back, quietly chatting while drinking coffee. I pulled out my current book and some homework as the waitress brought my water over that I immediately gulped down. I ordered a coffee and a blueberry muffins and started writing my paper to get my mind of what happened today. What was wrong with me? Why did that happen to me today? Am I really the monster who set a girls hair on fire? Was I really a freak?
"That was some stunt you pulled today, I'm impressed."
I turned to see blue eyes sitting next to me. I only knew because of the way his eyes had green details, almost like scales, making it look even more brilliant. His black, not dark brown but literally black, hair had one streak of blue in it. He must have dyed it.
"You idiot stalker, get away from me, freak." I glared at him as he raised his hands in a mock surrender.
"Chill, who you calling a freak?" He grinned and I hardened my glare.
"Go. Away." I said through gritted teeth.
"Listen Luci, you-." He began.
"How do you know my name?" Creep. Stranger danger, retreat retreat.
"It doesn't matter, you need to come with me." Frustration built on his face. Time to have some fun. My anger turned to mischief as ideas to annoy him popped into my head.
"Hmmmmm," I teased, "nope."
"I'm serious, you need to come, please." He tried to keep calm but I could see his anger.
"Well, if I do come, what will you give me in return?" Here we go.
He sighed, "what do you want?"
I smirked, "a phone to call the police, better start running."
He threw his hands up in frustration. "Why are you so bloody difficult?"
I grinned maliciously, "it makes life more interesting."
"Fine, don't come, see ya in hell." He stormed out the door.
"Boy, I run hell, you got no idea." I liked this analogy, I could easily belong in hell. My food arrived and I got to work.

Four hours later my hand was cramped and eyes sore. I had spent the time finishing work and reading until I finished my book. I picked up my stuff and walked out, paying and giving the waitress a wave on the way. I had found that I was close to my house, around five blocks away so I began walking. It was only three o'clock so I planned on going home and preparing for tomorrow and chilling. I had come to the conclusion that today was an accident, someone must have accidentally lit that girls hair on fire and I didn't start it. It was the only logical decision.

I reached my house and walked in, my mum was working night shift so she was sleeping before leaving soon. She was a nurse at our local hospital so I didn't see her much. My dad had passed through sickness when I was young, but mum was a good mum and dad, even though I hardly saw her. I grabbed a yogurt and walked to the bathroom. I cleaned myself up and changed. I went into my room and set my leftover homework out on my desk. I was about to start on it when I fell a prick on the side of my head coming from the direction of my window. I picked up a very detailed paper plane and slowly walked towards my window. I looked out and saw no one. It was on the top floor so it couldn't be reached by anyone. I sat on my bed and cautiously opened the paper plane, ripping it in some places. Words in fancy script were written saying:

Meet me at the Avo Smash tomorrow, 1 o'clock, don't be late!
E

I started panicking, not knowing who this was from or if I should trust them. What if it was blue eyes? Another paper plane came through my window. I opened it and in the same writing was:

I am not a stranger, just a friend. I am not the boy. There will be other people there and you will not have to leave their sight.
Please come. I know about the anger. It will be all okay.
E

They knew? But who is they? I guess I will have to find out.
