Nightmare

I woke at the crack of dawn, my alarm playing quietly so that Arasis wasn't woken. I got up and changed from my rabbit onesie to bike shorts and a workout shirt with my joggers. I packed a bag with my water bottle and phone and after closing the door and locking it, I crept down the stairwell and then jogged to the indoor arena. I looked through the glass and saw it was empty. Thank god, I though with a sigh of relief. I walked through the unlocked door and placed my bag on the ground at the back wall and then removed my shoes and socks, it made it more comfortable and I hated doing mma or any kind of movement in shoes. I walked across the blue sponge floor and reached the weapons, spotting my daggers and taking them in my hands. I looked at them closely. On the side of the first one was a small silver ingraving.
Night
Its brother had one as well.
Mare
Nightmare. That must be the name of the brother daggers. I took them to the center of the floor and took a deep breath before beginning to fight an invisible enemy. I moved with the daggers, making sure I kept my guard up.
"Hey spitfire."
Why me. I stopped my fighting and took a deep breath.
"Hey Elsa, I was here first," I turned around and glared at Jasper, "get out." Venom was in my voice as I tightened the grip on my daggers. He dropped his bag and walked over.
"I need to train as well." He took his scythe in his hands and looked up with an evil glint on his eyes. Mischief crept into my mind as I figured a way to settle this.
"Fine," I smirked, "no powers, just weapons. Whoever wins gets the arena for the day."
He grinned, "let's raise the stakes. The arena for the week."
"Month."
"Term."
"Deal."
He rolled his shoulders back before readying himself.
"Let's go."
He lunged at me with his scythe above his head, ready to strike at me. I sidestepped him and stood there smirking as he turned and huffed in anger. I ran towards him and sliced at his sword arm, trying to get him to drop his scythe. He effortlessly blocked my attack but I used my other dagger to slice his face as he hit my neck with the flat of his sword using all his power. We both stumbled back and I felt the burning pain on my neck. Tears stung at my eyes but I forced down a sob and straightened before taking a peak at his face. A semi-deep cut was across his cheekbone and he winced from the pain. His eyes widened once he took a look at my neck and he suddenly looked guilty.
"Um, woah, I am so sorry, Luci." He stumbled over his words, concern in his deep eyes.
"So am I, that looks bad." We looked around for a second before I saw a first aid on the far wall. We walked over there in silence to get cleaned up. He reached the wall first and began collecting things to attend to the wound.
"You know, you're really not a bad fighter," I raised my eyebrows at his compliment. "For a girl." He added. I should have known he wouldn't compliment me that easily.
"Well, for an ice queen, I expected a bit more wow factor." He just grinned and continued treating his wound. I looked at my own in the glass wall. A large welt was across my neck, already beginning to bruise. I wasn't sure if there was a way to treat that besides an ice pack.
"Hey jasper, is there an ice pack in there?" I asked. He looked through the first aid.
"No, sorry." I frowned.
"Come here Luci," he chuckled, "I think you forgot I'm an ice dragon."
I hesitated before walking over and tilting my head to expose the wound. He placed a hand on the welt and I shuddered at the cold.
"Sorry." He apologised. It was freezing at first but soon the burning in my neck began easing. He removed his hand after a minute and smiled.
"That should last for a couple hours."
I thanked him and we began packing away the first aid. His wound had been cleaned of blood and he had put a large patch on it.
"How's the cut?" I asked. He closed the first aid and faced me.
"Well, you definitely left your mark." I laughed and he joined in. He looked at my neck and his smile lessened and was changed to a guilty sadness.
"How's yours? I am so sorry." He has a look of regret in his scale-like blue eyes.
"Jasper, it's fine, we both just got a bit carried away." He gave a half smile and looked to the floor.
"Want to do a bit of combat training?" His lip curled into a full smile. I was sure I rathered his smile happy instead of guilty.
"Sure."
After an hour of stretching and teaching each other combat techniques I had realised how stupid I was to not like him. He was quite funny and could make me laugh at anytime. He was actually the son of a duke in the ice kingdom which was pretty awesome, although he seemed to hate the pressure. We were just about to do another set of shadow boxing when the clock on the wall struck 6.
"We should probably get going." He sounded disappointed but I knew it was true.
"Yeah, thanks for helping me out with dagger techniques." He had taught me to use my daggers with more techniques and how to judge people's attacks.
"No problem, thanks for all the boxing strategies, they really help my fighting style." I nodded and picked up our bags. We walked to the dorms before he had to leave for his morning fly.
"Same time tomorrow?" He smirked, "gives me another chance to beat you."
"You can try," I returned the smirk, "see you Elsa."
"Later, spitfire."
I caught myself watching him walk off and hurried up to my room. Arasis was in the shower so I got my sport uniform out since I was having battle today. Arasis emerged in her short uniform and began to curl her hair. I had a quick shower and put the navy and gold polo shirt on with the navy shorts and my joggers. I put two Dutch braids in my hair and we walked out. Classes were interesting, we learnt how to ask things to come to us by imagining the object and whispering venire to make it levitate toward you. We learnt how to think about battle strategies in battle studies and how to make traps for enemies. Miss Elnace taught us to use crystal balls and we learnt about the 53 portals in Origin History. It was so weird to be in a new world and learning about it when in my world this was impossible. I felt like I was in a dream but I had pinched myself enough to make myself believe it was real and to bring up a major bruise.

A few weeks into the term and I felt comfortable at 2E. The girls and I were always hanging out after class and on weekends at Leafburn or on campus. Jasper and I went to the indoor arena every morning to train and we could see ourselves improving in our fighting. Even Dran noticed our improvement. Jasper and I were standing outside the dorms as the sunset began after fighting class, last period, planning our training for the following week.
"So, bit of dagger techniques and scythe movements," I nodded as he named the training we were doing, "and the usual mma."
"Yeah, sounds good." I thought he would go now but he stayed put.
"So, what are you doing this weekend?"
I shrugged, "I have a battle map to turn in next week but that's it."
He looked like he was struggling to say something.
"So," he started, "maybe-"
"Luci," Madame Edraele stood next to Jasper. He gulped and backed away.
"I'll see you later, Luci." I waved but he was already around the corner.
"Sorry, was I interrupting something?" Madame Edraele asked.
"I don't think so," I asked just as confused, "how can I help you?"
She smiled warmly, "I would like to see you in my office, if that is alright."
Now it was my turn to gulp.
"Sure." I replied. This couldn't be good.
We walked to the office building, a five story sandstone building with large arches and ivy crawling up the sides. The stain glass windows caught the glare of the sunset, sending out a spray of colours. Madame Edraele opened the glass door and ushered me in. The lobby was quaint, couches spread out for visitors, an elderly elf sitting behind a desk. She smiled and nodded at me and Madame Edraele before going back to her paperwork. Madame Edraele led me up a spiral staircase and down a hallway with teachers everywhere. Miss Elnace caught my eye and grinned before going back too her office. We finally reached an office at the end of the hall and Madame Edraele gestured for me to enter I did, taking in my surroundings. Bookshelves with ancient looking books covered two of the four walls, opposite each other. The wall opposite where I just entered was a full window, showing the entire school bathed in the orange, pinks and reds of the sunset. A mahogany desk with a large, high backed, leather desk chair faced me, a smaller cushiony chair sat with its back to me. Sitting in that chair was a person, a human looking person, but the power that radiated of them told me otherwise. At the sound of us entering he stood and faced us.
My entire body felt like it had been hit by a truck and then repeatedly run over by an even bigger truck.
I found my voice after five seconds of complete and utter shock.
"D...Dad?"

Dun DUN DUNUUUUUN
Dramatic ending! Sorry the chapter is so short, I'll try to make it longer next update.
