"Sasuke-kun! Hurry up! Or we're gonna miss the fireworks!" The twelve-year-old pinkette said as she dragged her childhood bestfriend, who only shrugged at her behavior.

"Hn. Sakura, don't you think that we're getting too old for this kind of stuff?" Sasuke asked as they reached the side of the beach.

Sakura only stared at him in annoyance as she pouted "No we're not! Hey, what happened to you Sasuke-kun? You used to love watching the fireworks with me!" Said boy could only answer, "That was before my merciless brother killed our clan, Sakura. You should already know that by now."

Sakura bowed her head and nodded. It was true. Ever since Itachi killed their clan six years ago, her bestfriend could think nothing but to get revenge on him.

That made Sasuke cold and more anti-social now. Training day and night to achieve his so-called 'goal' in life. Making their friendship a bit more distant now than ever.

Just as she was about to say something to comfort him, the dancing colors of the fireworks lightened up the sky.

She looked up, amazed at the scenery in front if her. "They're beautiful.." she murmured and silently glanced at the boy standing next to her.

"I guess they are.." Sasuke said in agreement as he momentarily forgot about the conversation they were having earlier that evening.

He was smiling as the light luminated his handsome face. His dark onyx eyes, his pale and flawless skin, his coal black hair.. everything seemed perfect about him.

Which made a certain girl blush..

"S-Sasuke-kun?"

"Hn. What is it Sakura?"

"P-Promise me that we'll always watch the fireworks together.. okay?"

Sasuke stared at her for a moment, before smiling charmingly.

"I promise."

It was the 30th day of August. Which only meant one thing for the people of Konohagakure..

The fireworks festival, which only came once every three years.

Three years..

Somewhere at the seashore, a pink haired girl wearing her yukata stared upon a distance. Her forest green emerald eyes glimmered as the moonlight struck her steady figure.

She had a sad look on her face as she couldn't help but recall the times she spent with him.

Before he chose revenge.

Before he left the village.

And before he broke her heart..

"..Sasuke-kun." She whispered. The cold night breeze carrying her cracked voice along with it.

Sakura was now fifteen years old.

But she still dreams of his return.

She still dreams of his presence.

She still dreams of him, loving her back..

But not the less, she knew that this would only be categorized as another one of her 'undying fairytale fantasies'. But, as they always say, loving someone, means sacrifice.

And so, the pinkette started to sing as the soothing wind embraced her alone figure..

"With a huge crowd around us,

we attended the boisterious

festival at the end of August.

I wore my yukata and my geta

which sounded like "karan koron" as I walked.

Suddenly fireworks shot up and when we both looked up,

I took a gentle peek at your face entranced by the fireworks."

.

"Sasuke-kun! Hurry up! Or we're gonna miss the fireworks!"

"Hn. Sakura, don't you think that we're getting too old for this kind of stuff?"

.

She walked closer and closer, until her feet touched the cold water.

"It will be better if I just come to dislike you.

A day such as this will surely be a memory I will recall constantly.

I shouldn't have come to know these feelings.

There will never be a second time we'll see each other.

I want to see you, I want to see you.

Even now I think about the summer days you spent with me..."

.

"Kyaa! Sasuke-kun, you are so shy. I hope you're ready now."

"Hn. Have you seen Naruto?"

"Naruto? Hmph! Who cares about him! He's nothing but a troublemaker, always getting you into trouble!"

"Tsk. You're annoying."

.

"We were both a bit tired so we sat by the roadside

As we were listening to the distant festival music.

It resounded "hyururira".

Blossoming in the night sky was a great great splendid brocade.

Soon summer will end,

that suddenly made me very sad."

.

"Please! Please don't leave me! I-I love you with all of my heart! If you stay, you won't regret it, we'd be happy, I swear!"

"....."

"Revenge is not the answer. It can never make anyone happy! Just please.. stay here with me.. but, if you can't stay here, then take me with you!"

"Hn. You really are, very annoying."

.

"My upside down heart shot right side up,

"Ahaha" we both laughed, "I love you" we said, and we kissed.

I should just forget everything about you if it will be this painful.

Why?

Why did we have to meet?

When I close my eyes I feel like you'll be right here with me..."

.

"Take care of her Naruto. Take her away, and run, as fast and as far as you can.. if it's just for a few minutes, I can distract him. You, never again..

...I don't want to see those precious to me, die before my own eyes, ever again.."

.

"A faint breath,

as if feeling a slight fever,

I fell in love with you,

your voice and your eyes...

Before I knew it time just went by

and I am still searching for your figure."

.

He was standing there. Looking at her shocked figure, with an impassive expression on his face..

"Sasuke-kun?" She called. Hoping he heard her. They were soon surrounded by darkness and the boy in front of her soon began to fade away..

"S-Sasuke-kun? Sasuke, wait!"

She cried. She begged. She ran.

"Sasuke-kuuuuuun!!!"

-

A few minutes later, a fourteen-year-old Sakura woke up sweating and panting for air..

Realizing that it was all just a terrible dream.. again.

And with that, she cried herself to sleep like she always did for the past two years..

"Sasuke-kun.."

.

As tears started to form in her shivering jade green eyes, she whispered in a sad and depressing tone the next lines..

"When I look up at the fireworks alone,

I feel a slight stab in my heart.

Soon the next season will be here.

I still think of the fleeting fireworks I saw with you

and the summer days I spent with you..."

And as if on cue, the sky started to light up the same time the first teardrop fell down her pale face.

She looked up, and with a ghostly smile, she manage to say, "They are as beautiful as they were three years ago.. right Sasuke-kun?"

With a broken heart, she dared to look at her right. Finding no one but thin air by her side..

She let out a deep sigh, and continued to gaze at the mezmerizing fireworks display in front of her.

"..But as long as we're both under the same sky, I'll patienly wait for you.. I will, forever, patiently love you Sasuke.."

P-Promise me that we'll always watch the fireworks together.. okay?

"..And one day, I hope we'll be able to watch the fireworks again, together. Like you promised.."

I promise.

And with that, the girl with a brave heart watched the fireworks alone.

~

Far upon the other side of the seashore, stood a certain raven with a smile on his handsome face as he carefully masked his chakra to not alert the pinkette in only a mere fifty-meter distance from him.

As the firworks started to light the night sky, he couldn't help but obey his lips on whispering the words he never did got a chance to say to her, the night he left the village.

Making the transient fireworks mute witnesses on a matter that could last for an eternity..

"..I love you, too."
