In this situation, sakura didn’t know if it was okay to be this happy. Her arms were connected around the raven-haired boys neck, her crush. She could feel his hands on her mid-back and thigh, holding her tightly  against his abdomen and she could hear his beating heart. She couldn’t begin to express the amount of happiness that rushed through her at that moment. But it wasn’t only happiness, Her pink lips quivered slightly. Her eyes widened at the sight behind him; the people of her school with decaying loose flesh hanging from their mouths, arms, and necks. Her old friends and teachers reaching for them, biting at them, attempting to kill them. Running wasn’t enough, they were getting closer and fast too, she could see it.One had a momentary burst of speed and one grabbed at her leg, causing her to shriek and for the boy carrying her to stumble forward and twist around while lifting his leg up; his foot connected with the monsters face and sent them-it- onto the floor.

“ Teme! Don’t let it touch sakura-chan!” the boy in front of them yelled while pulling a red faced girl with him. She had tears in her eyes and was being pulled to safety.

“I know!” his usually calm voice hissed panicked venom. His hand gripped her waist tighter and he kept running as fast as he could.

Sakura Haruno was being princess carried by Sasuke Uchiha. Carried away from the monsters that had attacked their school and possibly the entire city.

It was an unusually hot day for the beginning of march.

Sakura had donned her school uniform, said goodbye to her parents and met up with some friends from school which included the blonde beauty and flower club president, ino yamanaka, the kendo clubs two leaders, tenten and temari (who had become the leader shortly after transferring from suna high), and the akido princess, hinata hyuga. Sakura didn’t have a specific club other than helping/being the school nurse and volunteering at hospitals, she did however practice martial arts everyday before and after school, during breaks and whenever she had free time. This, however,has been an unknown fact from everyone for three years, except naruto whom had caught her by accident. Nevertheless, he kept it a secret and she continued her peaceful days. During class, she was stuck in the very back row with hinata in front of her and sasuke uchiha beside her. Naruto had the luck of the draw and sat in very front middle row, to his dismay. Sakura snuck glances at sasuke during the few minutes of free time that they got in the mornings. She also talked to hinata and conversated with the girl about akido, which was one of the topics that got her chatty instead of her usual timidity.

“- it also protects the attacker from being hurt too badly as well. But there are ways to cause permanent damage to the body with it” she said, holding up a finger. Sakura nodded and was about to speak but their teacher came in and settled the class down. As it began she looked over to see sasuke looking for a pencil. She smiled to herself and held one out.

“Here sasuke-kun” she whispered while holding it out to him. He took it, and nodded slightly

“Thank you”

Sakura didn’t know why, but when she heard him, her heart skipped a beat.

Class carried on and somehow sakura and sasuke were assigned to take materials to the office. Naruto and hinata were assigned to help them.

“How come there is so much to carry?? I want to take a break! Come on sakura-chaaaaan!” he whined a bit. She rolled her eyes and stated, “if you keep whining I'll send you back and carry them myself” he knew she wasn’t kidding when she said this and for the remainder of it  he didn’t say anything.

“Attention all students, report to the g- hey! What are you doing! you can’t-” static sounded through the speaker for a minute and then, screaming “AHHHHHH! MONSTER!” the

tearing of flesh and the hissing and groaning through the speaker was loud. Men and women screamed in agony and then there was a loud shriek before- silence.

The group of four stood in the hallway. The office items casted away onto the floor, both girls shook slightly and had unconsciously held onto each other for support. Even sasuke had a look of disbelief on his face.

Naruto was the first to recover, “what…..what the hell was that?” he yelled while looking at each one of them.

“I….i think something bad is happening-” sakura was interrupted by screams from all around. Students were opening the doors, running out of the classrooms and panicking. People were attacking each other and yelling. Then they saw it. A horde of people, students, coming from the end of the hallway, barreling towards them at full speed with blood on their uniforms and empty clouded eyes. They had torn clothing and chunks missing from their skin; soon they began biting the other students. They ran and jumped on to any uninjured person they could see, many were just a few feet away from them. Sakura stepped forward, letting go of hinata’s hand, and looked at one that had latched itself onto a student. It hissed before holding down the girls neck and bit down onto her neck, spraying blood onto sakura’s shoes and socks .She nearly shrieked, but sasuke stepped forward and covered her mouth and only a small whine came out. Before long, the horde began  walking towards them. Sakura turned to run but tripped and sasuke picked her up.

“We need to get somewhere safe fast!”

“The roof! No one should be there!” the hyuga called out. And as soon as they heard the yells, they began running after the group of four. While many other students were being chased and bitten as well.

Another one gripped sakura’s ankle, it’s decayed flesh scratching coarsely against her soft skin. Before sasuke could maneuver away, sakura moved her leg and sent the heel of her other foot straight into its face. The force made it stumble into a group of them and many of them fell while the others crouched before pouncing up again.
