🌸Only Online - Reboot Part 4🌸
"Sasuke, can we please talk now?"
Sasuke turned to his computer screen as he adjusted his jacket, "sorry, Sakura. I have to get ready. Yuuki's coming over tonight."
"Again?"
"Yes."
"Sasuke, please, you have to listen to me." Sakura pursed her lips, "it's been a week, now, and this is extremely important."
Sasuke sighed and sat in his swivel chair, "okay, Sakura. What do you need?"
"I need you to get your head out of the clouds, that's what I need." She crossed her arms, "Sasuke, listen closely. You have to call that date with Yuuki off."
"Why?"
"Something's very wrong with her. Think about this, think about me."
Sasuke shook his head, "no, Sakura, you don't understand... Yuuki means a lot to me, and I might have a chance, here. I'm..." He swallowed hard, "I'm going to ask her to be my girlfriend."
"Sasuke..." Sakura took a deep breath and looked at him sternly, "you're right. I wouldn't understand what it's like to have a boyfriend. But you know what? She's evil, Sasuke. You can't trust her."
"What makes you say that?"
"Sasuke!" Sakura stood up, "you have to listen to me, Sasuke!"
"No, Sakura." Sasuke stopped when he heard the slam of a car door from outside, "that's her. Sakura, I'm sorry."
"Wait, wh-what are you doing?"
Sasuke moved his hand to the mouse of his computer and clicked the 'sleep mode' button in the corner of the screen.
"Sasuke! Wait!"
The screen went black and Sasuke left the room as Sakura sat in the dark screen, staring out into his empty room.
"Damn it!" she pounded on his screen, not making any sound, "Sasuke, you thick-skulled idiot! She's going trick you, you moron! Come back!!"
I need to somehow get to him... I can't contact him, though, all his applications are closed. As Sakura internally panicked, she heard the sound of footsteps coming up the stairs and the door swung open.
"This is your room?" Yuuki chuckled, "it's a lot cleaner than I thought it'd be."
"Shut up."
"So." She turned around to look at him as she shut the door behind her, "where's Sakura tonight?"
"Oh, she's sleeping."
"You damn idiot!" Sakura pounded on the computer screen, but since the computer was sleeping, they couldn't hear a thing.
"Good." Yuuki slowly walked up to him, "I wanted to ask you something a little bit personal."
"Sure."
She pursed her lips and set her hand on his chest, "I don't know... Do you want to be my boyfriend?"
Sasuke's eyes opened wide as his hands moved to her waist, "are you sure?"
"Of course." She smiled and pressed herself against him, "only if you want to be."
"Y-yeah, of course."
"You do?" She looked at him suggestively, "then prove it."
Sakura's eyes opened wide, "n-no... Sasuke!!" She pounded harder on the glass, trying to break through, "Sasuke! Stop it, you damn idiot! Sasuke!!"
She couldn't stop them, nor could she avoid it. She just had to sit there helplessly watching the two make out right in front of her. Her fists shook with rage as blood dripped from her knuckles, "damn it... Damn it, damn it, damn it!!" She bit her tongue so hard she could taste the blood in her mouth. She trembled with anger and sadness as tears streamed down her face.
"Why the hell do I feel this way? I shouldn't care less what he does, who he kisses, who he loves... I shouldn't care less about his life, I just met him... I shouldn't... But... But..."
But I do... Sakura wiped her eyes and watched the scene unfold in front of her. Why do I feel this way? This is jealousy, isn't it? I should be happy for him, shouldn't I? He forgot about me, though, why do I still care about him? Hell, I should hate him, so why...
Sakura sat with her back towards the screen, eyes squeezed shut and hands over her ears to deafen the sounds coming from outside the machine. All she could hear echoing through the dark, empty space was her sobbing. She didn't know why, but she just let the tears fall, let the confusing pain consume her until she fell asleep. Not too long after, however, the computer turned on. She wiped her eyes and leaped to her feet, "Sasuke, is that you--"
"I'm sorry, Sasuke won't be coming for a while."
She stared in horror as Yuuki sat before the screen, "you! What did you do to Sasuke? Is he okay?"
"Oh, don't worry, he's fine. I just put him to sleep for a little while, that's all." Yuuki smiled a completely unreadable smile.
Crap! If only I'd been paying more attention and not sobbing over my own selfish feelings, maybe I could've seen what she did to Sasuke... Sakura bit her lip, "what do you want?"
"Just to talk, no need to be so scared." Yuuki giggled, "so, tell me Sakura, you've been living in this machine for a while now, yeah? Does Sasuke spend much time with you?"
"Well, yeah, I go everywhere with him." Why am I telling her all this?
"I see." Yuuki set her chin in the palm of her hand, "do you love him?"
Sakura froze. After a few seconds, she clenched her fists, "what did you do to Sasuke?!"
Yuuki avoided her question and just laughed, "I'll take that as a yes. You know, I'm sure you love him, and who knows? Maybe he loves you back?"
"What makes you say that?!"
Avoiding the question once more, Yuuki continued, "the only thing keeping you two apart is the fact that you're in a completely different world than him. If only you were still human..."
Sakura's eyes opened wide, "h-how did..."
"Oh, I suppose you didn't tell him yet, did you? He would've told me."
"Told you what?!" Sakura was losing her patience, "you're not making any sense!"
Yuuki stroked the computer mouse, "I know your backstory, Sakura. I know where you came from, who you are, at least who you really are..."
Sakura felt herself trembling, "wait... I knew it..."
"Oh? You did?"
"Yuuki, you monster!" Sakura started running to the 'start' button of Sasuke's computer, "reboot! Reboot now!"
"I don't think so!" Yuuki moved the mouse to Sakura's application, opened it, then clicked onto her avatar, "you're not going anywhere, little girl. You're just a game avatar, a computer code, a bunch of numbers, a test subject."
Sakura stared at her, "'test subject'?"
"You're our little rat." Yuuki scoffed, "Sasuke will never love you. You're just a bunch of 1's and 0's."
"Why you..."
"But he can love me. At least I'm human."
"W-wait, what are you..."
Yuuki opened the computer terminal and typed in a series of codes. She closed Sakura's application, zipped it, and attached it to an email.
Alright, Sir. I got her right here. You can have her back, my playtime is done here.
The cursor hovered over the 'send' button before she turned around, looked at Sasuke's sleeping figure, then grinned evilly, "he won't even remember her by the time he wakes up. He won't notice she's gone."
She clicked the button on the mouse and chuckled softly to herself.
"Goodbye, Sakura. Sasuke's mine."
