🌸 Long Distance 🌸

Sakura woke up to the feeling of the plane landing, jolting her awake. She looked out the window to confirm she had landed, and indeed, instead of the blue sky she had been staring at before she fell asleep, she saw the airport building. She stood up from her seat to stretch a little. Her section was told to unboard the plane, so she got up, grabbing her drawstring bag she had brought for the plane ride, getting off the plane, entering the airport.

After getting through security and grabbing her suitcase, she took her phone off Airplane Mode and checked to see if she got any updates from Sasuke. His latest text said he'd be waiting for her at the airport. She straightened her skirt a little, sliding her phone into the pocket of the black hoodie she was wearing. Not her usual color scheme, her friend Ino had noted before, but Sakura didn't really care. Sasuke had given it to her when he flew out to see her a few months ago, so she wore it all the time. It reminded her of him.

After a few minutes of looking around, she spotted the Raven-haired boy from the bottom of the Escalator. He was wearing a grey flannel and a black shirt, along with a pair of jeans and a set of converse, his hair still up in that duck-butt style she knew and loved. He was holding a sign with a slightly messy "Welcome Home Sakura." In red letters. She smiled a little, stepping onto the escalator going down when he wasn't looking, almost breaking into a run down the steps, her suitcases wheels denting a bit from hitting each stair. When his back was turned, she hugged him from behind, catching him off guard.

"Sakura..!" He laughed a little, meeting her eyes when he turned around a little. Sakura could notice his expression brightening a little, a bit of light coming to his usually cold eyes. Sakura had missed seeing that for a while.

"Hi, Sasuke!" She smiled up at him, pulling away, "It's good to see you again..!"

"Likewise," he replied, a light smile on his face, "Did you eat today?"

As if on cue, Sakura's stomach growled a bit, and she smiled sheepishly. "I didn't have time, hehe...I missed breakfast because I overslept, and airline food Is expensive..!"

Sasuke sighed a little, smiling at the pinkette. "Alright, then. I know a good place close by the airport to grab lunch."

The duo walked out of the airport together, where Sasuke's car was parked. Sakura beat Sasuke to the car, putting her suitcase in the trunk. She walked over to the drivers side door, opening it, a joking smile on her face.

"M'lady," she said, trying to keep from laughing. Sasuke snickered a little in response, kissing her cheek as he got in the car. Sakura smiled a little and hopped into the passenger seat. They pulled out of the parking lot and drove off.

After a few minutes, they pulled into the parking lot of a cafe. They both got out of the car, walking into the cafe, sitting down at an empty table.

"So," Sasuke started, resting his elbows on the table, "How's school going for you?"

Sakura smiled a little, messing with her hair a little. "Well, I've definitely been getting better in my Medical Classes. I've been considering transferring to a better school, since that one's a bit older fashioned, and the teachers are better educated on medical curriculum in this one school I've been looking at, whereas my one teacher doesn't know a kidney from a lung..!

Sasuke noticed her eyes light up when she started talking about medical stuff. He smiled a little, slightly reminiscent. She had been obsessed with the medical field ever since she was 11; she had a knack for it as well, along with self defense and fighting, she had grown up to become very capable in those fields. He enjoyed seeing how passionate she was about what she was able to do now.

Sakura paused for a moment, eyes widening. "Oh, my bad, I was rambling again..!" She laughed a little, a sheepish smile appearing on her face. "How are thing s going with you and Naruto at The police academy?"

Sasuke shrugged a little, ruffling his hair. "Nothing very noteworthy. Naruto's a dunce as always."

Sakura snickered a little, raising an eyebrow. "You've gotta admit he's getting better, though; that goes for you too." she commented, "Remember how you both were in Elementary school?"

Sasuke sighed a little, facepalming. "Ugh, don't remind me." Ever since they got out of middle school, the two boys had finally grown out of the phase in their lives where they were always competing with one another. Ever since then, they hadn't looked back on it very fondly. It was rarely mentioned, but when it was...there was a lot of secondhand shame from the memories.

They ordered and paid for their food, driving back to Sasuke's place. Sakura stretched a little, happy to be back to the familiar apartment she'd spent so much time in before she moved. It was good to be back.

"You've still got those two drawers in my dresser reserved for you. Need any help unpacking?" Sasuke looked over at her after hanging his keys on the hook beside the door.

Sakura nodded, smiling. "If you could, that would be awesome," she said, "I brought more this time, since I'm staying for almost a week." They went to Sasuke's room to unpack.

Those five days, The two spent almost every minute together. Sasuke didn't have to work at his job, seeing as he'd asked for the week off after working extra hours, and school was out for the summer. Some days they'd go out, one day they met up with Naruto, and a few days they just lazed around and enjoyed each other's company. Occasionally during those days, Sakura was typing something on her laptop, looking busy, but after about a half hour at a time she'd reunite with Sasuke on the couch to watch a movie. Every moment was what some would call perfection.

At the end of those five days, the two noticed that they moved a lot more hesitantly as Sasuke helped Sakura pack, a little slower as they walked to the car, and Sakura could swear that Sasuke was more lenient with the gas pedal. They finally arrived at the airport, and as Sasuke walked Sakura to the gate, and they hugged one final time, they both held on for a lot longer than they needed to.

As the two departed from each other, Sakura walking into the security area, a faint smile appeared on the Pinkette's face. She peered down at a notification on her phone. Her eyes lit up a little as she read the words on her screen.

"Student Transfer to Konoha School for Medicine Approved"

Sakura smiled, her eyes brightening. She could finally close the distance.
