🌸Little Wishes🌸

[vampire!sasuke AU]

Sasuke doesn't have a head. Not literally, but not figuratively either. It's more like, you know when you were a kid and had a doll and the head popped off and then you went crying to mommy or daddy about the doll's head. And you're parents are either looking at you sympathetically or they give you that what-the-fuck-why-doesn't-this-child-have-any-common-sense look before they grab the doll out of your little hands and pop the head right back and then you just stare at them like they're made of magic and look back at the doll like it's gonna eat you as they hand it back to you. Well, Sasuke is like that, his head pops off.

That's Sasuke for you. His head tends to pop off if it's not securely set on his body. It's a weird normality and maybe that's why it doesn't faze Sakura  because it's a weird normality.

A weird normality for Sakura. But not for the driver. It's noticeable in the way that the driver keeps looking back. Keeps staring at the body without a head and then glancing towards the head, before looking back at the road for a few minutes and then the cycle repeats. Body, head, road. Body, head, road. Body, head, road, until they reach the city.

"Can't you do something about that?" The driver asks as he looks back to where Sakura is sitting.

Sakura cocks her head to the side and lifts up Sasuke's head from next to her. His eyes are closed and lips are pulled taught. "This?" She asks.

"Yes, that."

"Sorry," Sakura places the head back next to her and picks up the book that rests on her lap, "but I'm sure you wouldn't want an all-powerful vampire to be conscious during this trip."

The driver gulps. "You mean..."

"Yes."

The rest of the trip is spent in silence. The driver still occasionally looks back at the two of them. Sakura doesn't pay attention to him. She just flips through the pages of her little book.

The driver stops the horses when the city comes close into view but not at the city.

"This is as far as I'll take you," he says, "I won't be responsible for letting that thing in."

Sakura shrugs and grabs the head as she climbs it if the wagon, the body follows suit.

She attaches Sasuke's head into his body when the driver leaves.

"Did you really have to do that?"

"I'm not the one who destroyed a whole city. C'mon, Sasuke,"

"It would have been easier if you left my head on," he mutters.

The office building is silent before it erupts into chaos. It's silent for the first few seconds and then the building suddenly becomes a shouting battlefield for Naruto and Ino.

"Oh my god!"

"What?"

"Look at who Sakura's with!"

"Some random guy?"

"Yes! A super hot guy!"

"So?"

"Look at that ass!"

"It's not that good!"

"Are you freakin' kidding me! I want that ass! Give me that ass!"

(Sakura doesn't exactly blame Ino for the way she's acting, because, after all, that was her first thought when she saw Sasuke. She just wishes that Naruto and Ino would not scream their entire conversation. Like c'mon their office's are right next to each other)

"Ino, you're married!"

"Sai and I both agreed on a freebie! I'm willing to use it on that hunk of ass!"

"What the hell? You guys are so weird!"

Sakura tries her best to ignore the two idiots as she makes her way to her boss' office.

Boss' office is in its normal state of organized disarray. Papers are littered across the floor and bottles of sake are in the most random of places and Ms. Tsunade sits in the middle of all of it drinking a bottle of sake.

"You found him," Tsunade sings, "M'surprised."

"You're drunk," Sakura says. Honestly, she should've expected this. Tsunade is always drunk.

Tsunade waves get off. "I'm fine. He give you a hard time?"

"No."

"Great, now let's get to business."

There's been a series of kidnappings and bombings lately. That's the problem, that's the business. It's hard, it's frustrating, it keeps you on your toes. That's why Sakura is here, that's why Sasuke is here.

The all powerful former vampire king who once killed thousands of people, is here to help with a series a bombings and kidnappings.

Sakura was sent to revive him. Sakura was sent perform magic on him to make sure he doesn't go on a rampage (so far he's been good and she hasn't had to do anything).

Tsunade doesn't regret anything. Sakura can easily say that. Tsunade doesn't regret the decision to revive Sasuke, a vampire whose head was cut off to stop him from his rampage.

There's been a series of bombings and kidnappings. It's strange, it's weird, it's normal. But it's not. It's not normal because they take place simultaneously. When a bomb goes off a kid is kidnapped. It's strange, it's frustrating, it keeps you on your toes.

That's why Sasuke is here. To help stop it. To help them not be on their toes all of the damn time.

And as per always Shikamaru comes up with the plan. Ino helps set it up and Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke execute the plan.

They've got a plan B, but knowing Shikamaru and his skills they'll either need it or will have to come up with a new plan as they go along.

It's night, it's dark, it's calm, when they set their plan in motion. The bombings and kidnappings take place during every fortnight, the bombings are always exactly three blocks west from the last time and the kidnappings always takes place on the Main Street. It's horrible, but it's reassuring to know that they can predict when and where their culprit is going to strike again.

The five of them are together. It's night, it's dark, it's calm. Shikamaru is repeating the plan. Ino is nodding her head. Naruto and Sakura are barely paying attention. And Sasuke is probably rolling his eyes 'cause of how many times Shikamaru has told them what they had to do.

They're all situated at different posts. They all have different jobs to do and different places to be. Ino breaks off from their little group first followed by Shikamaru and Naruto. And that leaves Sakura alone with Sasuke just for a few moments.

She stares at the sky, stares at the stares. Tonight is the night. Tonight they catch their problem, tonight a vampire will be set loose because of a mage.

Tonight.

Tonight is.

Tonight is tonight. And everything will change. Everything will be better. Everyone will come home.

"We should leave now," she hears Sasuke say.

"Yeah."

"Hey, princess," Sasuke says. She doesn't know why he does that. She doesn't know why since the day that they met Sasuke has been calling her princess, it's never Sakura, always princess. "What are you thinking about?"

She stares at the little stars in the sky. "I'm making my wish."

She could practically feel Sasuke raising his right eyebrow and so, she points at some random star. "Right there. I'm making my wish."

"And?"

"And?" She repeats. "What's your wish? What do you wish for?"

"Figure it out, princess," is all he says. A home.

"Hey, Sasuke?"

He hums.

"Let's all come back home."

For clarification this oneshot takes place in the 1890s.
I feel like it's a bit rushed (sorry about that).
