"I'm going to get Sakura a Valentine's Day gift."

"Hn. Whatever."

"What do you think she likes?"

"I don't know. Isn't that something for you to decide? My opinion wouldn't matter here."

"Of course it would! You're my best friend!"

Sasuke looked at Naruto and sighed, "you've been so infatuated by Sakura... I'm sure she knows by now."

"I-It can't be." Naruto denied.

"Come on. You're sixteen... Grow up. Life can't always be a fairytale." Sasuke looked at the ground, "unfortunately."

"Hello, my comrades!"

They looked up as the blue beast of the Hidden Leaf Village approached them.

Naruto grinned evilly, "Rock Lee... What are you doing for Valentine's Day?"

"Oh, me? I'm getting something for Sakura!"

Sasuke shut his eyes, "what is it with you guys and Sakura?"

"She's only one of the most beautiful girls on the planet."

Lee looked at Naruto and pointed his finger at his chest, "I'm sure I love her more. She's the most beautiful girl in the universe!"

"She's the most beautiful girl ever!"

"I can't believe I'm hearing this..." Sasuke sighed and walked away from the bickering couple. Valentine's Day. Such a useless day... It's the day celebrating all those couples in the world and that word: 'love'. Who has the time for that?

"Sasuke!"

Her voice snapped him out of his daze, "oh, hey Sakura... We were just talking about you."

"What? You were talking about me?"

"Well..." Sasuke glanced back at Naruto and Lee. I should leave that as a surprise for her...

"Oh! Hi Lee! Naruto!"

"Sakura!" Lee gasped and bowed in respect, "it's great to see you today!"

"You too!" She ran past Sasuke and up to the two googly-eyed boys, "so what are you guys doing for Valentine's Day?"

"O-oh, making chocolate..." Naruto grinned, "maybe for a number of people, not one person in particular."

"Yeah, uh." Sakura lowered her voice, "Hinata's waiting for a gift."

Hm, that's right. Sasuke snickered.

"Yeah, I'll make chocolate for her, too, of course." Naruto nodded, "but I can assure you my homemade chocolate is the best in the Village."

"You are wrong!" Lee clenched his fists, "I will make the best chocolate in the entire shinobi nation!"

"I know!" Naruto beamed at Sakura, "maybe you should try the chocolate we make and tell us which one is better!"

"Sure." Sakura laughed, "this sounds interesting. Though I'm not really expecting any Valentines from anyone."

"Well, don't worry, Sakura!" Naruto saluted, "we'll be sure to make this Valentine's Day the best you'll ever have!"

That sentence struck a nerve in the back of Sasuke's head. He watched as Lee and Naruto left to buy ingredients to make their heart-winning chocolate. Then he watched Sakura walk off in the opposite direction. He restrained himself from following her, so instead, he turned around and headed home.

I've got some work to do... S-Rank Mission, accepted. Operation... Valentine's Day.

"Here, we got chocolate for all the other girls in Konoha 12."

"Wow, that's so nice! Thanks, guys!" Sakura smiled as she accepted the box of chocolates from Shikamaru and Choji.

"Yeah, we did too." Kiba and Shino walked up to her with a small bag, "just so it didn't seem awkward when we gave chocolates to Hinata."

"Of course." Sakura continued past the supermarket after accepting the gifts until the repetitive calls of her name stopped her, "Huh?"

"Sakura!!" Rock Lee shouted, "I have your gift!!"

"Try mine first!!" Naruto followed close behind, "I swear it's better!!"

"Wow, you two are so competitive..." Sakura chuckled uncomfortably as they held out their boxes to her, "thanks, guys, I'm sure they're both great."

Sakura watched as the two started to argue once again before she quickly slipped away without them knowing. She looked down at all the bags and boxes of chocolate she held in her arms, sighed, then looked up, "ah! Hey, Sasuke!"

The Uchiha turned and smiled, "oh, uh, hey."

"So..." Sakura walked beside him as they started down the road, "where are you headed?"

"I'm going home." He looked away, avoiding eye contact with her.

"I see." Sakura inspected the bag he was carrying, "are you cooking something up?"

"N-no..." He looked at her handful, "you look like you're having a feast tonight..."

"Yeah, well." Sakura laughed, "I've got all this chocolate that I don't really know what to do with. Want some?"

"I don't like sweets."

"Yeah, I kind of figured." Sakura sighed, "Valentine's Day isn't your thing then, huh?"

"Not really, no." Sasuke looked down at the bag of ingredients he held, "if anything, finding something to give a girl on Valentine's Day is an S-rank mission in itself. Not to mention the competition with other guys for one girl..."

"What?"

"N-nothing..."

Sakura stepped in front of him, stopped him, and studied his face, "are you okay?"

"N-no... I mean yes."

"Ha. I get it." Sakura sighed, "you're in love, aren't you?"

"Wh-what?!"

"And the girl you're in love with is in love with someone else, is that it?"

"N-now wait a--"

"I get that. I mean..." Sakura chuckled, "it must be hard watching her with another man... In all honesty, in a way, I feel the same. I get all this chocolate and attention but I still feel... Empty somehow."

"Me too..." 

"I mean." She looked at him, "I really wish there was something I could give you, Sasuke."

"Well..." Sasuke looked down at his bag, "if you're not doing anything... Would you want to come over? I was going to make you some chocolate, but I don't think you need any more."

Sakura looked at him, smiled, then laughed, "it's okay! It's really the thought that counts! Oh, and yeah! I'd love to come over tonight!"

Sasuke smiled a small, almost invisible smile, "yeah... That'd mean a lot to me. Really."

"Me too." Sakura moved to stand closer to him, "Happy Valentine's Day, Sasuke."

Sasuke nodded, smiled, and kissed her on the forehead.

You too, Sakura. Another S-Rank Mission completed... But I'm sure this isn't the end.
