🌸Heart to Heart🌸

[fluff]

"Papa, how did you meet mama?" Sarada wanted to hear the story from her father for the first time.

"You're mama is probably the only pink-haired human to exist." Sasuke bluntly replied.

"That was lame."

"All right. Yeah, your mother's pink hair was the first thing I noticed about her."

"..." Sarada kept on staring at her father. Sasuke sighed before continuing.

"We became teammates, fought together during the war, got married and had you. The end."

"Lame." Sarada sighed.

"What's so lame about that?" Sasuke turned to look at his daughter with a raised eyebrow.

"Everything about your answer is lame? Is this how you talk to mama?" Sarada adjusted her glasses.

"This is how I talk to everybody." Sasuke replied casually.

"Except Nanadaime, you insult him." Sarada quickly replied.

"Stay away from him."

"Too late, I'm his student."

"I'll teach you whatever you want to learn."

"No thanks."

"I'm the only other Sharingan wielder."

"Rokudaime pops by every now and then."

"Kakashi doesn't have the Sharingan."

"He used to."

"Naruto will only spread his idiocy."

"Nanadaime is pretty cool."

"He's an idiot."

"At least he knows how to talk and not to be lame."

"He's the lamest person you'll ever meet."

"That's what I think about you."

"He can't even teach anything."

"He can."

"What can he teach you? Shadow clone?"

"I know the shadow clone jutsu."

"Since when?"

"Almost two years ago."

"Do you want to learn the rasengan?"

"That jutsu is for blonde Uzumakis."

"I can teach you the Chidori."

"I know that."

"Who taught you?"

"Rokudaime and Nanadaime."

"They can't use it. Only a Sharingan wielder can."

"Rokudaime created the Chidori."

"I'm the only one who can use it."

"I just said that I can use it."

"What if you awaken the mangekyo?"

"I'll ask Rokudaime and Nanadaime."

"Are you avoiding me?"

"You have a lot of work to do."

"I can make time."

"You can't and you won't."

"Do you hate me?"

"I don't hate you."

"Do you dislike me?"

"I don't even know you well enough to actually have an opinion of you." Sasuke was speechless for a moment before Sarada continued. "Before I met you, all I knew about you was your name and the fact that you're my biological father. Don't think that your absence has caused anything good to us."

"What do you mean?"

"You come after a decade to see a destroyed house, did you wonder why?" Sarada

"Sakura has a short temper. It's not the first time she has destroyed buildings." He coolly replied.

"Well this happened because of you and me."

"I wasn't even around."

"Like I said, your absence hasn't really caused anything good for us. You didn't even bother getting a family photo before you left."

"We got one after I came back."

"Before that the only photos we had of you was when you were with your genin squad and when you were a teenager with a group of people which included a woman. A woman whom I suspected of being your actual wife and my real mother when she was actually the midwife. I questioned my mother's marriage to you because she didn't even know whether you wore glasses during your childhood. Whose fault is that? Later I get to know that going away for that mission wasn't the first time you abandoned mama. Do you even love her? Do you how many times she has cried when I mentioned you? She would smile in front of me but I've heard her sobs for nights." Sarada had started panting. She stood up and walked towards the door.

"I'm going for training." As soon as she opened the door, she saw Sakura in front of her with a plastic bag.

"Sarada, look at this. I got a big watermelon and..." Sakura paused when she saw the sad look on her daughter's face. "What happened?"

"Why did you marry him?" Sarada pointed towards Sasuke. Sasuke was still sitting on the sofa with his long hair covering his eyes.

"What the..."

"You know, I've heard that Nanadaime and the Kazekage were once in love with you. Why didn't you marry them? At least you would've known that your husband is alive." Sakura was utterly confused as to why her daughter kept saying such things, but when Sarada hugged her, she didn't hesitate to return it.

"Sarada.."

"How did you live with him abandoning you over and over again?" Sarada sobbed into her mother's chest.

"I married him because I loved him and because he proved his feelings to me."

"But still..."

"Sarada, our marriage was supposed to be an arranged marriage because I was the most suitable to produce heirs for the Uchiha clan. But before the elders could actually give an official order, we already got married and went to travel."

"Huh?"

"Your father is the worst storyteller in the world. The only time he actually gives a proper narration is when he has to give a mission report. This is exactly why I tell you the stories." Saying so, Sakura pulled Sarada into the house.

"First, wash this." Sakura gave the watermelon to Sarada. After washing and cutting the watermelon, she put them in a tray which Sarada placed in the living room in front of a silent Sasuke. She sat on an another chair as they both waited for the Uchiha matriarch.

"Eat up. And tell me what happened." Sakura sat down next to her gloomy husband.

"He wanted to train me, I refused. He asked me whether I hate him or dislike him and I said that I didn't know him well enough to have an opinion of him and then..." Sakura raised her hand and Sarada paused.

"Let me guess, you told him that I used to cry when you mentioned him and poured out your feelings." Sakura put her left hand under her chin and wore an amused expression.

"How did you..."

"I'm your mother. You might think you're different from me because of you black hair and eyes, but you've got my temper and personality." Sakura winked.

"Ehhhh!!!"

"When I look at team Konohamaru, I'm reminded of my own genin team and the first generation of the Sannin. Boruto, Naruto and Jiraiya-sama are all loud and perverted. Although Boruto isn't as perverted as Naruto or Jiraiya-sama. Then there's Orochimaru, your father and Mitsuki. All of them are the quiet ones in the group, more interested in learning and are like snakes." Sakura mused.

"What does that have to do with this?"

"Then there's Tsunade-sama, me and you. We have large foreheads, we smack the idiots of our teams and we'd rather destroy the ground than give a damn. The three generations of these teams have many things in amongst their members. There's a loudmouth, a short-tempered female and a silent genius. I know myself because I've spent years with Tsunade-shishou, who's the same as me. Looking at her has always made me feel as if I was looking at a mirror and I know that she feels the same. Your attitude towards Boruto confirmed my suspicions. You look a lot like Sasuke but you turned out to be exactly like myself and Tsunade-shishou.

As for the fact as to why I married him, it's not only because I love him. He loves me. Sarada, feelings are one thing and your life is another. If he didn't love me and if I married him out of selfishness, what would you feel?"

"What would I feel?"

"Sarada, our foreheads have a brain inside them which is supposed to be used. If your father didn't love me, then I would never get married to him even if he begged me to."

"But you just said you love him."

"I also said that feelings are one thing and life is another. I won't get myself in a loveless marriage because of my feelings because that would be my selfishness. Sarada, I've had this talk with shishou years ago and this is something I decided long ago. If I had a child from this loveless marriage that would affect the child's growth more than me or Sasuke. Both of us are grown adults but a child deserves love from parents and deserves to know that the parents share a mutual love. A loveless family may have understanding, but you wouldn't be as happy with either of us as you are now."

"As for Sasuke..." Sasuke looked at his wife with wide eyes. "...you're an idiot." Sakura poked his forehead. Sasuke gave her a small smile. Sarada's eyes widened at that scene. Her parents loved each other. For them, distance was the least of their problems as long as they knew of each other's feelings.

"I'm sorry papa." Sarada sobbed.

"No worries. Eat the watermelon." Sasuke gave her a smile.
