Chapter 6: Why Does It Hurt So Much?
The seventh time I saw him, he didn't see me, because he was with another girl.
Allie's P.O.V
I slowly turned the lock on the door, wincing as it opened with a loud screech. I eased opened the door, stopping and listening whenever it would creak.
I was dressed in last night's dress and I was carrying my heels in my hand with my bag tucked under my arm. I had spent the night at Luke's, and when I saw Luke, I meant Chris' dorm room. We had, ahem, done the tango, and now I was doing the walk of shame, sneaking back into my own apartment.
I closed the door behind me and turned around. Jasmine was standing behind me, arms crossed. I jumped and put a hand over my heart.
"Jesus, you scared me," I said.
"Where where you last night?" She demanded.
"Good morning to you too," I muttered, pushing past her. I had a bit of a hangover and my head hurt.
Jasmine ignored my comment. "You do realize that you never came home last night?" She exclaimed.
"Aw, did you miss me?"
"I am not in the mood for your sarcasm, Allie!" She shouted, her voice shrill.
I winced at the noise. "Alright, alright, Jesus, just shut up."
"Where where you?" Jasmine demanded.
"If you must know, I was with Luke," I mumbled.
I had told Jasmine about Luke, but not the whole story. I had just mentioned that there was this annoying boy following me around at parties.
Jasmine cocked an eyebrow. "You mean the guy that bothers you?"
"That's the one," I said under my breath, heading towards the kitchen to find myself something to eat.
Jasmine followed me. "You slept with him," she accused me.
"What?" I cried, totally lying my ass off. "No I didn't!"
"You're wearing the dress you left in last night, your hair is a mess, you never came home last night and you have a hickey on your collarbone," Jasmine ticked off on her fingers.
My hand came up to cover my neck. "What? That's a hickey? No it's not... I fell.... and I bruised my neck."
Jasmine laughed at my pathetic attempt to lie even though I had been caught. I cursed inwardly. Dammit, I usually had much better comebacks than this.
"Nice try," she said.
"Fine! I slept with him!" I exclaimed, throwing my hands up in the air. "Happy now?"
"Not particularly," Jasmine crossed her arms. "Isn't he the boy that kept trying to get in your pants? And you wouldn't let him because he kept just asking you straight up?"
"Yup," I sighed.
"Wow," Jasmine said, unable to hide the distaste in her tone. "Classy."
"Hey!" I said. "It's not like you don't come home at three in the morning with a boy attached to your neck and I have to listen to you guys fucking all night long!"
Jasmine's cheeks colored. "Well, if you were asleep like a normal person, you wouldn't have to hear it!"
"Well, you guys are so loud I'm pretty sure I would wake up anyway!" I said.
Jasmine tossed her hair. "Whatever, this isn't about me, anyway. This is about you hooking up with a guy that is a total pig! It had better have been the best sex of your life if you're going to drop your standards that low."
"He likes Fall Out Boy," I mumbled, as if that would make it better.
"Big deal!" she exclaimed. "Now was it good sex or what?"
I shrugged. "It wasn't the best sex I'd ever had, but it was better than some people I've been with."
Jasmine shook her head and sighed. "Well, I hope you're happy with yourself."
"I am," I said, allowing a smirk to cross my lips. "I'm certainly better off than you, I mean, I'm not sexually frustrated anymore."
Jasmine's mouth dropped open. "You are disgusting!"
"Right," I scoffed. "The things I hear when you fuck guys, it's kinky stuff, I might add-"
"Urgh!" Jasmine stomped her foot in frustration. "Allie! You are so annoying! I don't know why I even try to help you!"
With that, she stormed off to her room, where the door slammed. Just then, a thought came to my mind and I laughed out loud.
She's sexually frustrated, that's why she's so pissed.
...
I awkwardly bounced along to the beat, smiling at the guy in front of me. He had asked me to dance, and maybe because I felt bad for the guy, I said yes. Now, he was dancing like a maniac and I was barely moving at all; it was as if he was dancing more to make up for my lack of effort.
"I'm gonna go get another drink!" I shouted over the music, which was just a bunch of beats dropping over and over and over again. It was getting quite repetitive and boring.
The guy immediately ceased all movement and looked at me, slightly crestfallen. "What?"
"Beer!" I said, pointing to my cup.
He nodded and I turned around, wondering why the hell I was wasting my time with this guy. I got to the kitchen and put in some more beer and drank it, cringing when I realized that it was warm and flat. Just then, I saw Chris and made my way over to him.
He was in yet another snapback. They seemed to be a part of him, and he rocked them, actually, he looked quite good in a white T-shirt and jeans paired with his snapback.
"Hey Chris!" I shouted.
He blinked and looked down at me. "Oh hey Allie!" he said. "How's it going?"
"Shitty," I said. "This guy was dancing with me and he looked like he was going to cry when I left."
Chris laughed. "Well, if you want to have fun, you can be my partner in beer pong."
I smiled at him. "Actually, I was looking for Luke, did you see him anywhere?"
"What?" Chris bent down, his hand cupped over his ear.
"Have you seen Luke?" I shouted, standing on my tiptoes to reach his ear.
"Oh, Luke!" Chris said. "Yeah, he was in the hallway last I saw him."
"Thanks," I said.
I pushed past some people to the hallway, where the bathrooms were and I saw Luke; a smile came to my lips. I made my way to talk to him, but I stopped when I saw who he was with. It was some other girl, and he had his arm above her, pinning her to the wall. I got a little bit closer and I heard what he was saying.
"I lost my number, can I have yours?" Luke grinned at her, flashing his smile.
The girl seemed to melt against the wall. "Yes you can," she said in what was supposed to be a seductive tone.
The smile dropped off my lips. He used the same pick-up line on me, and for some bizarre reason, I felt betrayed that he was using it on another girl, and that it actually worked. I blinked hard, feeling a tear come to my eye and I took a step back.
My heart felt like it was clenching in my chest and I almost dropped my cup of beer. I felt completely and utterly used. Why the hell did I fall for Luke's tricks? I knew what kind of guy he was; he was used to girls climbing willingly into his bed and he just left them the next day, with no feelings attached whatsoever.
I may have a dirty mind, but I didn't just fuck whoever I wanted. I fucked with feelings, and I thought that maybe, just maybe, Luke liked me because he read The Fault In Our Stars. He probably didn't even read the book, just watched the movie.
I turned around sharply, my shoulders hunched over and a single tear dripped onto the floor. I bit my lip hard, trying not to start crying in the middle of the hallway and suddenly I was bumped from behind.
I looked forward to see the girl clinging onto Luke's arm. Luke was the one to bump into me.
"Sorry," he said, not even recognizing me.
That hit me hard, and filled me with a iron resolve. I wasn't going to cry over Luke, a guy I barely knew. I wasn't going to go home and eat ice cream like I was heartbroken. I wasn't going to cry to Jasmine on how she was right.
I was going to get white-girl wasted.
______________________________________________________________________
hey guys, I'm so so so so so so so sorry for not updating. I've been really busy as of late. I went to this lake by my house twice in the last week, and I went to Six Flags with the Spanish exchange student, and I've been watching Teen Wolf kind of nonstop to catch up to season five and I'm almost done with season four and I started watching this like a week ago and I'm kind of grounded from my electronics until 9 at night because I've been on them so much and I'm sorry.
I hope this makes up for it.
Love ya!

P.S. I am quite sorry, I feel horrible
