Chapter VII The Day Before The Wedding

Chapter VII
The Day Before the Wedding

Gareth POV
I ran to the throne room, alarmed by the smashing sound that was coming from inside. I had been talking with Ruby, who was ‘guarding’ Sarah. Today was the day we had to keep Jareth and Sarah apart. Tradition or not, those two were doing everything they could to get around it.

Bursting through the doors, I saw Jareth splayed across the throne, un fazed by the fact I had just ran through the door.
He summoned a crystal and threw it at the wall, the shattering sound being ten times louder than it should have been.
“WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!” I shouted between panting breaths from running around the castle.
“Bored.” Was all he said. His eyes fixed on the wall, his answer being the only conformation he knew I was there.
“What?” I asked, trying to keep my aggravation at he’s blatant disregard and ignorance.
He stood abruptly and shouted. “BORED! BORED! BORED!” Summoning a crystal with each word and throwing it at the wall, causing it to shatter into a million pices.
“For god sakes Jareth would you PLEASE STOP THAT!” I lost my cool on those last few words.
He looked at me like an argentine child might look at you after you tell them off and they don’t think they’ve done anything wrong.
He looked down for a moment as if listening to something in the distance and ‘flopped’ back down onto his throne.
“How in the name of the underground is Sarah going to put up with you for the rest of your lives.” He ignored my comment aside from the part where I said Sarah’s name. He sat up straight and looked at me.
“Sarah?”
I pushed him back down and sighed.
I wonder how Ruby is doing.

Ruby’s POV
I sat in the library with Sarah reading most of the day. She was reading the percy jackson series I had handed her. Turns our she was quite the fan of the books,  but the libary in the above ground had sold there copy so she could no longer read it. I knew she was missing Jareth, because every time there was a smashing noise she looked up, smiled sadly and returned to her book.
I however, having just read the series, was reading the history books. Having lived through history, I found it rather amusing to mock the authors when they got there facts wrong. I finished the book I was on and wandered over to the book shelves. I looked up and realised that I could not reach the book I wanted, and with out my wings could not fly up and get it.
“Damn.” I cursed and was startled by The voice behind me.
“Which one?” Sarah asked, walking to my side.
I pointed at the book. “the one wrapped in an old cloth on the fifth shelf.” She nodded and held her hand towards the book. Suddenly the book floated from the shelf and landed safely in my arms.
“How...” I trailed off, remembering Jareth had started teaching Sarah how to use her magic.
She shrugged and returned to the chair. Resting her book on her folded knees as she continued to read.

A few hours later, after the smashing noise had stopped, I looked up and realised Sarah hadn’t turned a page in a while. She just sat there, staring at the pages of the book. But the look in her eyes was as though she was looking much further.
She smiled, stifled a laugh and then returned back to her emotionless mask. After a few more moments she glanced up at me, smiled and returned back to the book, turning the page.
I shrugged it off.  Sometimes I got lost in the pages too.

It was getting late now and Sarah and I were walking back to her room. It had been a long day, keeping Jareth and Sarah apart. But that would be  over tomorrow. And they would be gone the day after. On there honey moon and not likely to return for the next month, maybe even longer.
As Sarah was settling into bed she looked at me and sighed.
“Look Ruby... I know it’s tradition and all, but do you really have to watch me whilst I sleep?”
I sighed and nodded. I guess she was right, it was a little creepy me watching her all the time.
I walked out of the room and headed back to my own room, walking in to find Gareth splayed over the bed in deep sleep. I smiled to my self and crawled into his arms, joining him in his dreams.
