Sarah's explains the labyrinth
Tina POV continued
"I told myself to get walking and soon found myself in front of the ginormous labyrinth. Mom replied. "It was here that I spotted a dwarf who was peeing into a pond." At this I couldn't help but giggle.
Mom cleared her throat. Anyway I said excuse me he looked up and zipped up his pants and replied "oh excuse me." Then when he spotted me he said "oh it's you." Then he picked up a nearby spray can.
"Excuse me, I replied. "I have to get through this labryinth can you help me?" He didn't reply instead he started walking away. As he did I spotted a fairy flying by. I sighed "oh how sweet." As I went to get a closer look he sprayed the fairy causing it to fall to the ground like we would insects."
"How could he do some thing so horrible? Fairies are sweet right?" I replied frowning.
"I thought the very same thing and I very carefully picked up the fairy that had just fallen to the ground saying "oh you poor thing." However, the fairy wasn't grateful for my help insisted it bit me. "Owe." I replied dropping the fairy.
"It bit you?" I replied in confusion.
Mom nodded. The dwarf paused for a moment and said "huh? I exclaimed that it had bit me.
He looked at me kind of shocked before replying semi sarcastically "what'd you expect fairies to do?"
"I replied that I thought fairies did nice things like granting wishes he scoffed at me."
"that shows what you know don't it?" he replied and he continued to walk away and spray them and kick dust over them.
"How horrible." I replied with a frown.
"That's exactly what I told him. "Your horrible." He found that offensive.
"no I ain't I'm Hoggle! who are you?
"Sarah." Was my reply.
He scoffed and replied "that's what I thought and continued down the wall." Spraying fairies and counting them as the fell to the ground.!
"Do you know where to the door to the labyrinth is?" I asked him irritatedly.
"maybe" he replied as he continued spraying fairies.
"Well where is it?" I demanded following him.
"where's what?" He asked me.
"Why'd he as that? He knew what you were asking didn't he?" I replied with a frown. I was starting to not like this Hoggle creature.
"Yes he did and so frustrated I replied the door."
He questioned back "what door."
"He sounds annoying to me." I said and Mom nodded.
"That's what I thought at first too. "It's useless asking you anything." I replied and His reply was surprising."
"Not if you asked the right questions."
"How's that suppose to be helpful? It's not an answer that's just a riddle. How were you supposed to know what the right question or questions were?" I replied confused.
"Well after thinking about it I realized I hadn't been asking the right questions. I had been asking where the door to the Labyrinth was what I hadn't asked was how to get into the labyrinth."
"Oh."
"Ahh now that's more like it." he replied walking back towards me. Then he pointed, "you gets in there" and suddenly the doors to the labyrinth appeared and opened. As i stared into the mist he came along side me. "Are you really going in there?" I replied "yes that I was afraid that I had too. With that I walked into the labyrinth.
After entering I looked down one corridor and was startled by Hoggle saying "cozy isn't it." With a laugh. "Now would go left or right?" He asked me. After looking both ways I replied that they looked the same. He scoffed "well your not going to get very far."' So I asked him which way he'd go. "Me? I wouldn't go either way."
"Some help he was."
I felt the same way and told him if that was the way he was going to be then he could just leave. He seemed slightly offended by this.
"You know what your problem Is? You take too many things for granted. Even if you do make it to the center of the labyrinth you'll never make it out again." Hoggle stated as if were fact.
"He sounds very glum." I replied which caused mom to giggle.
"That he was. I told him that was his opinion and he said that his was better then mine. "Thanks for nothing Hogwart" I replied.
"it's Hoggle! And don't say I didn't warn you!" With that he turned and exited the labryinth closing the doors shut behind him. The labyrinth was strange I walked for quite a while and then became frustrated how could it be called a labyrinth when there wasn't any turns or corners or anything. Then I remembered what Hoggle had said about taking things for granted. So in started running down the corridor. Eventually i grew frustrated hit the walls a few times and then slumped down. It was there that I met a rather unusual blue worm one that could talk.
"Hello." He said to me. I turned and looked at him and asked him if he'd said hello. He replied "no, I said he'llo but it's all the same."
I asked him if he knew how to get through the labyrinth and he shook his head. "No I'm just a worm he replied. "Come inside and meet the misses." He offered. I politely refused. Sarah paused and then continued.
"I told him that I had to solve it but was finding it hard because there wasn't any turns or openings or anything and that I felt that it just went on and on."
"Well you ain't lookin right. It's full of openings it's just you ain't seen em." He pointed to the wall across the way and said there's one right there. I looked at the wall confused. There's no opening there the worm replied that yes there was and suggested I try walking through the wall.
"How could you walk through a wall?" I asked confused.
"That's what I thought and that's what I told the worm. He replied that things aren't always what they seemed in the Labyrinth so you could never take anything for granted. So I slightly touched the wall and a new corridor opened up. I thanked the worm and started going left. The worm warned me not to go that way. That I should never go that way."
"Why not?" I asked confused.
"I don't know why the worm told me not to go that way. So I thanked him and went down the other way. Had I stayed a few minutes longer i might have heard him say with a sigh "if she'd kept on going that way she'd have gone straight to that castle." I soon realized that I should try and track where I had been incase I needed to back track. So I made arrow marks to mark the direction I had been heading. However, what I didn't know was that a goblin kept switching the tiles I had written on. So I turned a corner and found myself at a dead end. As I turned to go back the way I came I noticed that the tile I had made an arrow on had been turned a different way. Frustrated I tossed my lipstick on the ground and cried what a horrible place it was and that it wasn't fair."
Upon hearing my exclamation the red creature on the bottom replied "that's right it's not fair" which caused them both to burst into laughter.
"But that's not funny." I replied with a slight frown.
"True but they thought it was. I was confused so I asked them what I should do." Sarah replied.
"What did they say?" I asked curiously.
"The red guy told me that the only way out of where I currently located was to try one of the doors. The blue guy who was upside down informed me that one do the doors lead straight to the castle and the other lead to sudden death." Sarah replied.
"So which was which?" I asked really wanting to know the answer.
"That's what I asked them and the ones that were upside down told me they didn't know the answer but that the right side up guys did.
So I said ok then I'll ask them. However they replied no you can't ask us that I could only ask one of them."
"Why?" I asked with a bit of a pout.
"Evidently those were the rules."
"Well those are stupid rules." I replied still frowning and mom laughed.
"That maybe true but those were the rules. Anyway, the blue guy also told me that one of them always lies and the other one always tells the truth and then pointing toward the red guy said he always lies. The red guy retorted back no, I tell the truth. The blue guy shot back that he was lying."
"So how did you determine who was telling the truth?" I asked sitting up in bed.
" I tried to outsmart them. I went over to the red guard and asked him to answer yes or no to my question. So I asked the red door if the blue guard would tell me that the red door lead to the castle. After talking it over with the upside down red guy he replied yes. So I decided that meant that the blue door lead to the castle and the red door lead to certain doom.
"So which door was which?" Tina asked again.
"The red guy asked me how I knew that was the right answer and said that perhaps the blue door was telling the truth."
"Ok." Tina replied slightly furrowing her eyebrows completely puzzled. "So how did you respond?"
"I replied but then you wouldn't be so if you told me he said yes then I know the answers is no. To which the red guard replied that he could be telling the truth."
"Did they even know what they were talking about or were they trying to confuse you on purpose?" I asked now completely confused.
"I'm not sure. However I concluded that if the red guard was telling the truth and he had told me that the blue door said yes the door lead to the castle then the red door lead to certain death and the blue door lead to the castle then I knew that the answer would still be no."
"I think I'm going to get a headache trying to figure this out, I'm so completely confused, so which door did you pick?"
"I chose the blue door."
"Was it the right door? Did it lead to the castle?" I asked wanting to know the answer.
"You'll just have to wait and see. I'm getting kind of sleepy I'll have to tell you the rest of the story tomorrow night." Mom said with a yawn.
"Awe, can't you tell me the rest of the story tonight?" I whined.
"No, you'll just have to wait till tomorrow night." Mom replied with a smile kissing me on the forehead.
"I wish I could make time stand still then you could finish the story." I replied with a sigh.
"You should be careful the wishes you make. You need to be careful the path your wish will take because Wishes come true but not free sometimes the wish can turn agents you." Mom warned.
"What do you mean my wish could come true but it wouldn't be free?" I asked slightly worried.
"Don't worry about it my dear. It's just some lyrics from a song my mom use to sing to me before I went to sleep called children will
Listen. Just get some sleep." Mom replied turning off my room light and closing the door.
"Mom, could you sing the song to me? You use to sing me to sleep every night when I was younger but you've never sung that too me before." I asked giving a slight yawn.
"Ok sweetheart but just one. It is really late and you should have been asleep hours ago." Mom replied tucking Me in. "This song is called Children will listen. "How do you say to your child in the night nothing's all black but then nothing's all white? How do you say it will all be alright when you know it might not be true? What do you do? Careful the things you say, children will listen. Careful the things you do children will see and learn. Children may not obey but children will listen children will look to you for which way to turn. To learn what to be. Careful before you say listen to me." Mom paused to catch her breath and she could hear the sound of my shallow breathing. I had fallen asleep just as I always had when she sang to me.
