Ch6. The Journey to Hogwarts

*Edited*

The last month before I leave to Platform nine and three-quarters, was very exciting.

I have read through all of my school books and practiced a few spells with my wand. I have mastered only two spells: Alohomora and Oculus Reparo.

On the last day of August, I pack my trunk ready to leave tomorrow.

I wake up at five o'clock the next morning and I am too excited to go back to sleep.

While I wait for Bonnie and Dad to wake up, I triple check my trunk to make sure I've packed everything and made sure I have my owl Swoops, who had been my real parents owl, locked safely in her cage.

Just as I start feeding Holly, Bonnie wakes up.

"Morning," She says sleepily.

"Good Morning," I say happily.

Up until Dad wakes up, Bonnie and I pack her trunk, double checking it, and start cooking breakfast.

"Morning girls," Dad says as he walks into the kitchen.

"Morning Dad!" Bonnie and I chorus.

By a quarter-past nine, Dad, Bonnie and I are ready to leave for Kings Cross.

We just make some last-minute checking before we stand in front of the fireplace, at nine-thirty, ready to go to the Leaky Cauldron, pack the cars Dad had hired, and drive to Kings Cross Station.

We get to Kings Cross by a quarter to eleven. Enough time to pack the trolleys and get onto the platform.

Bonnie and I grab a trolley each and load our trunks and owls and set out to platforms nine and ten.

To get to Platform Nine and Three-Quarters, you have to run at the barrier between platforms nine and ten. It looks like an ordinary brick wall, but it's magical and sends you through to Platform Nine and Three-Quarters.

"Okay, Bonnie, you first," Dad says.

Bonnie looks quite nervous.

She runs straight at the wall with her trolley and goes through.

"Sarah, you next."

I am so scared that I will crash.

I brace myself.

I run.

There is no crash, but I come out through to a platform with a sign that says:
PLATFORM NINE AND THREE-QUARTERS.

I made it!

There, standing before me, is the deep scarlet steam engine train on the tracks.

The platform is filled with lots of families and children, filing onto the train.

No more than five minutes later, do I find myself sitting in an empty compartment with Bonnie.

A few minutes later, I hear the whistle blow and we're off.

I wave to Dad until we turn the corner and he's out of sight.

After I sit down, the compartment door opens.

It's Harry.

"Hey Harry!" I say as I jump up and hug him.

"Woah, hey, hi Sarah," He says, surprised.

"So, how was you last month at the Dursley's?" I say playfully.

"Oh, it was so fun," He says sarcastically.

For a few moments we sit in silence until the compartment door opens again.

A red headed boy walks in.

"Erm, can I sit here? Everywhere else is full," He says.

"Sure," Harry says, gesturing to the seat beside him as if he knew the boy.

"Er...hello," I say. "I don't mean to be rude, but who are you?"

"Oh I'm Ron Weasley. I met Harry on the platform. Oh yeah, Harry, is it true that you're Harry Potter? Or is it one of Fred and George's jokes?"

"Yes, I am," Harry answers.

"Wicked. Do you really have the-the...scar?"

Oh, yeah," Harry days as he lifts up his bangs and shows his lightning bolt scar.

"Woah! And is it true that you're Sarah Potter?" He asks me.

"Yep," I say popping the p.

"Bloody hell! Oh and Harry, want to see a spell that Fred and George gave me to turn Scabbers yellow? Although I haven't tried it yet..."

"Yeah, sure!" Harry says.

"Two questions," I say."Who are Fred and George and what is Scabbers?"

"Oh, Fred and George are my brothers, twins. I have five brothers and a sister-"

"Five brothers?" I ask. "And how old's your sister?"

"Yeah, and she's a year younger than us."

"Cool, now who's Scabbers?"

"Oh, yeah. Scabbers is my pet rat," Ron says as he pulls out a fat, grey rat.

"He dead useless." Ron adds.

"Ugh! I hate rats," I say out loud.

Ron doesn't listen.

Git

"Anyway, lets try the spell," He says.

He pulls out his wand. It's a bit worn out.

"Sunshi-" he begins but the compartment door opens again.

A girl with long, bushy brown hair walks in.

"Has anyone seen a toad? A boy named Neville's lost one."

"No," Ron says rudely.

"Oh! Are you doing magic, let's see then," She says.

Ron clears his throat.

"Sunshine, Daisy's, butter mellow, turn this stupid fat rat yellow!" He chants.

It doesn't work.

"Humph. Are you sure that's a real spell? Well, it's not very good, is it? I've tried a few simple simple ones myself, but they've all worked for me, and I grew up in the muggle world."

She goes over and sits next to Harry.

"For example, Oculus Reparo!" She recites as she points her wand at Harry's glasses.

"Holy crickets, you're Harry Potter! That means that you're Sarah Potter!" She says pointing at me. "I'm Hermione Granger, and you two are?" She asks Ron and Bonnie.

"Erm, Ron Weasley," Ron says with a mouthful of chocolate frog that we'd bought off the food trolley earlier.

"Pleasure. And you?" She asks Bonnie.

"Bonnie Lupin," Bonnie says

"Well, you four best change into your robes, I expect we'll be arriving soon," She says as she walks out of the compartment. She stops and looks back.

"You've got dirt on your nose, did you know?" She adds to Ron.

Ron sighs as she leaves.

"She's mental. I'm telling you."

"Hey!" I say, glaring at Ron. "She's not that bad!" And I leave the compartment without another word.

I walk down the train corridor to try and find Hermione.

I find her sitting in a carriage with a boy that I don't know.

I open the door and walk in.

"Oh, hi Sarah," She says gloomily. "I heard what Ron said after I left," She adds.

"Don't worry about him, his a prat. And I stood up for you," I say.

Hermione smiles, "Thanks. Oh, by the way, this is Neville Longbottom," She says pointing towards the boy opposite her.

"Hello Neville, I'm Sarah. Sarah Potter," I say to him.

He looks up at me, his eyes widen.

"Really? Sarah Potter? The girl who lived?" He asks

"Yep," I say popping the p as I sit down next to Hermione.

The compartment door opens.

It's Bonnie.

"Hey, Bon. Didn't you want to sit with the boys?" I ask

"Nah, they're too annoying," She says sitting down next to Neville

"By the way Bon, this is Neville," I say pointing to Neville. "And you've already met Hermione."

"Hi Neville. I'm Bonnie Lupin," Bonnie says.

For the rest of the ride, Hermione, Neville, Bonnie and I talk about ourselves and Hogwarts.

Finally the train stops. We're at Hogwarts!

We get off the train to hear a loud voice over the crowd:

"Firs' years, over here!"

It's Hagrid.

I walk over with Hermione, Bonnie and Neville so we can go to the giant castle.
