Epilogue

There was never just one. If you think that, you truly know nothing. Yes, some were shot in the head, but you really think they all just died in peace? There was one that got away, one that escaped, just in time, to live, to complete the task she was made to do. She never knew that people had her whole life planned out, for their own selfish gain. She would have no say in how she lived her life. There was no way to escape. No way to break free of the programing. You might be wondering how she got there. How she was in such a place that they decided her fate for her. Against her will. She, of course, never wished for this. It was never in her best interest. Only theirs. And to think it all started with a single gunshot. One bullet changed her life forever.

Everything was normal in her world. It was all the same routine. Not for a teenager, but for an adult. She couldn't go to school, there were more important things. Such as work. No child should have to think about these things until they are old enough. Not her. She had to think about this since she was seven. Seven. Luckily, there were people willing to use her. The right kind of people. Only at that moment. Doing only simple tasks. Technical support. She worked with a place called S.H.I.E.L.D. Created to bring peace. Instead brought wars. They try to help others. It doesn't always work out like that. There was another group. Built for the opposite purpose. HYDRA. They had quite the legacy. They were obsessed with experiments. None were ever safe. One girl would soon find this out. She would experience the worst one. One of the worst kinds of torture. Mental.

Sarah Jane Barton. Daughter of Hawkeye. Currently nineteen. Fifteen when this began. Technically, an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. HYDRA chose her to become something more than what she already was. All because of her friend. James Buchanan Barnes. It's a name that many are familiar with. And with Sarah, it's more familiar than most. She had lived with him for years. They had found out. They always found out.

Sarah was captured along with him, shot and injured by her side. Taken to their facility in a place called Siberia. They tortured her, threatening to kill the one person she had grown to care about. She had no choice but to do whatever they said. Afterwards, in her memories were only small slivers of events, and one man, always injecting her with something. Then total darkness.

They hurt her in ways no person could describe, while the one that loved her was forced to watch. She endured what she could, but eventually had no choice but to succumb to their will, having held out for over 3 years. Her friend would be kept there, but they released him back into the world. Instead, with her, they were mentally breaking her down, allowing her mind to become theirs to keep. Theirs to use to further their own plans they had for her. Perfection. It had to be perfect. They began the procedure. Brainwashing at first, and simple upgrades. They were almost too rough. They damaged her, she would never be able to move her left arm again. Too many nerves had been damaged beyond hope of repair.

So They found her a replacement. Vibranium. The strongest metal on earth. Makes you wonder how much they believed this project meant to them. They had failed six times before, and they couldn't afford to fail again. They truly had the perfect specimen. Sarah was frozen for years. In a sleep like state. It was probably the only time she looked at peace.

Then it was time.

The removed her from the chamber. She wasn't awake just yet, but in a few moments, she would try to escape, the time was imminent. Her eyes snapped open and she tried to flee, but they strapped her to the chair with strong metal cuffs. It was then that she noticed her left arm had changed, where she once had an arm of flesh and blood was now reformed in metal . The man took out a red book, looking quite old and worn, like it had been used many times before. Words were spoken.

Memories were lost. She lost herself in the rhythmic words. She became like them. She became one of them. The 7th winter soldier. And it was everything they had ever wanted. She was under their control .She occasionally broke from the spell and tried to make a run for it., so every time they were not in need of her service, she would be put back on the ice, and seemingly frozen in time. Whenever she was awoken those words would wipe the slate of her mind her clean once again, and was like a fresh start for her. When they finally deemed her ready,They tested a new serum on her. It had made Steve Rogers stronger, but he was a man. It had different effects on a female, she was quicker, more agile, gave her more endurance, but not much of a strength boost to their disappointment.

So then they froze her, seemingly for the last time until they would need her again to bring down all of S.H.I.E.L.D. To break open the organization. Starting with Nick Fury himself. She couldn't be stopped.

There was no one to stop her.
