Chapter 12

(Sarah's POV)

I don't see it at first. I hear it. Bucky screams, like nothing I've ever heard in my life. This is the end for me. I shoot from my bow again and blow up a small group of soldiers without dying in the process. I see a man walk up to Bucky, taking his time. Like he owns him. I realize that this is the man who had taken everything away from him. I was not going to let him lay a hand on him. A man near me grabs at my bow, so he gets the tip of it through his cheek. My bow is broken after some more men came after me. All I have left is my knife, and someone to fight for. I do my best, but it isn't enough. It seems like all of my efforts are never enough. They catch me too. Bucky is unconscious, blood trickling down his back. I scream his name, but he never responds. They have a syringe in their hand and are holding it above me. There is nothing I could have done to stop the needle from going in my neck. I am swallowed by darkness.

When I wake up, I I find myself strapped down to a table. A surgical table it seems. I look to my left and see Bucky. He's breathing! They have taken off his shirt to patch up his back. I call out to him again, but I still get no answer, he's out cold. He's laying on his stomach, his back is covered in blood-soaked bandages. A woman enters the room, staring at me like I am the cause of all the problems in the world, She seems all too familiar to me.

"The doctor will see you now," she says, smirking. This isn't a doctor's visit, they want something from me. I already know what it is. They want Bucky back. But as long as I was here, breathing and alive, he would refuse to comply. He would break free again. I refused to betray him. I would never.

The lady hasn't stopped staring at me. I am no longer wearing my suit I wear all-white. I try to get up, forgetting the fact that I am strapped to the table. She unclasps my restraints. I want to punch her in the face, just for good measure, but there are people at the viewing windows. That's when I see the doctor. The same guy from the roof. He smiles at me, and I simply stare at him. He is an older man. I could take him no problem. But something tells me his guards aren't just going to leave the room empty and the doctor unguarded. I try to stand up and fall on my face. I scream and hear some of the soldiers who had trickled into the room snicker and laugh. They had tied my legs together with what looked like a zip tie. Maybe a few zip ties. So much for a high tech, dangerous organization buying their kidnapping supplies from a hardware store. Two soldiers grab me from under my arms and drag me forward, to a desk in the corner of the room I hadn't even seen before. So I wasn't leaving this room. At least I could keep an eye on Bucky. The doctor comes to me and sits at the other end of the table. There are metal cuffs built into the wood, and that's where my hands end up going.

"Miss Sarah Jane Barton, how are you feeling?" he asks. Starting off with pleasantries. Nice way of trying to make it look like he gave a crap about my well being. Smart.

"What do you want?" I ask. I didn't realize how hoarse my voice was until now. I cough and clear my throat, only to be surprised when blood drips from the corner of my mouth. One guard wipes my mouth with the sleeve of his uniform, roughly. My throat is raw.

"I want to offer you a deal, that you are sure to accept!" he says his smile growing larger.

"Either you come and stay here and become my little obedient soldier," he then gives some kind of signal with his hand, allowing four soldiers to train their weapons on Bucky's still body behind me.

"Or he dies"
