What now?
June 1950
As June 1st came, Jack started feeling better after his Addison's crisis from the following month. There were talks of him being discharged. He was happy to go, happy he would be able to see Bobby get married and happy that he would be home in Hyannis port able to recuperate alone, or as alone with multiple siblings and other family members and friends would allow. To eat at home. Maybe read. Stare out the window and sleep in his own bed. The simple things.Things were turning up for him but he was missing one thing. He would miss Sarah. In the time he had been here they had shared many laughs and he though she was a real gem. He had developed a crush on her, something he hadn't had on anyone since his teenage years. "I'm 33 and I have a crush on a woman". Jack whispered in the hospital bed to himself. "I can't believe it". Just then Sarah came in with a hot meal and some medication as well as water.
"Oh and I almost forgot" she said reaching for the nursing table across the hall. "Discharge papers" she said with a smile.
Jack was delighted to hear it. He looked down at the discharge papers knowing something was out of order and had to do something about it, no matter how awkward it may be he had to do it.
Jack had to ask.
"Sarah, do you mind, if I could have your number? Again if it alright with you?" Jack smiled
Sarah blushed. No man had given her this type of attention in years. Ask for her number? No way.
She nodded and took out a small piece of paper and scribbled her number on the paper and handed it to Jack.
"I hope you call me soon, yeah?" She asked.
Jack replied "of course". As she closed his door and headed to other patients down the hall.
