Sarafina's POV

It was nearly time for the last quidditch match of the season and I was already in my quidditch robes (my broomstick was in the change rooms). But Hermione suddenly had a brain wave and we ran off to the library. We told Harry and Ron to go to the pitch without us. I knew Oliver would be about me being late, but this is important.

"What's your idea Hermione?" I asked as I ran to catch up to her.

"I think I know what the beast is that is petrifying people" she stated as we reached the library. There was only one person there beside us and that is Penelope Clearwater. The girl that I know Percy is dating, but have told no one and neither has Ginny.

She then went in search of a book and came back with it going through the pages. "Here it is, this is what it is" Hermione said triumphantly. I looked over her shoulder to see she was looking up a basilisk which is a giant snake.

"It all makes sense now the spiders, petrification, and dead roosters. But how is it getting through the school?" I stated/asked. "The pipes it's using the plumbing" I told Hermione and she wrote it down.  Before ripping the page out saying we had to show it to the boys.

We saw Penelope leaving and asked if she had a mirror. She did and we told her about the monster. We all left together her using the mirror to look around corners on the way to the game. I heard something behind us and turned to look. Only to hear two thuds of bodies falling behind me.

I stood still closing my eyes tightly as I heard something slithering towards me. I didn't bother screaming as no one hear me as they are all a the game. Then I felt the snake wrapping itself around me and I was scared shitless thinking it would ate me.

However, it started moving somewhere with me in its coils. I tried to strangle reaching for me wand. But that mad it squeeze me tighter so I could hardly breath. Soon I felt myself tilting forward smelling a horrible stench. I knew we had just enter the school pipes.

All I could think about was if Hermione and Penelope were ok. Also way the Basilisk had me when the diary was gone. Then remembered Harry finding it and telling us want it had showed him about Hagrid. But it was then stolen from him and Ginny swore she didn't take it. I believed her, because she is my little sister and wouldn't lye about something like that again.

The sound of a heavy door closing took me out of my thoughts. Soon the snake let me go slithering away and I grabbed my wand eyes still closed. Then something hard hit the back of my head and I blacked out.
