Chapter Sixteen

~Burdon~

I woke up. I groaned after being in bed for so long. I wasn't allowed to get up-not even to stretch. Honestly, it was is just my wrist that is wounded, not my leg, or side. Why can't I get up? Or move? It was seriously just my wrist that I broke! Nothing bad! Why won't she let me up, or move?!
I was so bored, I could do nothing but lay on a bed, which very monotonous. Occasionally Rain would read me a story, but they were so tedious that I fell asleep. I think that Rain was doing that on purpose. Rain does keep on feeding me lots of food, and making me drink lots of water. At least it gives me something to do besides laying on the bed, sleeping and listening to Rain reading a absolutely boring book. The only time I was this bored was in school. At least I knew that I would have a break from it, but not now-unless I was asleep, which I couldn't do. I couldn't wait until my wrist was healed, so I could finally move again because Rain won't let me move at all. I'll never ever do this again as long as I lives, which is a long time-or at least I will try not to.
Every so often Father, my half-brothers, or-not usually-Ryderr will come in and talk to me. Rain is with another patient right now, since the Varden are low on healers, but all the patients are in the same tent-so the healers didn't have to go back and forth between tents. Once Rain was done with that patient she went to me. She was making something, but I didn't know what. Rain put a cup to my lips and told me to drink. But when I didn't, she said it's just fruit juice and I decided to drink it because I was rather thirsty. It had something else besides fruit juice in which I knew, but I couldn't place what else was in it before I fell asleep again.

I brought my sword down, swiping at my opponent. But just before it struck, my opponent's sword came out of nowhere and blocked my sword with his sword. And with my smallsword interlocked with hers, I couldn't use it.
I glared at her as she smirked, and pressed down on the smallswords, causing me to step backwards momentarily. She is a lot stronger than she looks.
I grind my teeth, struggling to keep my foil-like sword from falling down. And annoyed at myself that I am currently being beaten by a girl-even if she is around three times my age.
Even as I tried my hardest, my sword is being pushed against me, and it was hard not to accidentally cut myself on the blade. It was getting hard to even hold it up.
As I stared into my challenger's beautiful face, I growled. She looked so sweet at the moment and I just hate it!
And, at that exact moment, my right leg gave away under pressure, causing me to fall down to the side and land awkwardly on my leg. I barely heard my blade clacked against the ground, when I felt the tip of a blade at my throat.
"Give up?" asked the older girl in front of me, smirking. "Do you surrender?"
I snarled at her, angry and annoyed at myself for being beaten. "How can I defend my people if I can't even hold myself against a single older opponent?" I snapped, more at myself than anything.
"Give it time. You are still a youngling," said the woman in front of me, reassuring. And she held out her hand to me.
I shrugged it off, and stood up on my own. I know she was trying to help me, but even though she was trying to reassure me, I was not assured. "I'm not a youngling!" I growled, standing in front of her, glaring her down-or up, I guess since I am shorter than her at the moment; can't wait until I'm older and I have a growth spurt.
"Are you sure? Because you're acting like one right now."
Without taking my eyes off of her, I bend down and picked up my sword; turning back to her. "Shut up, Euri," I snarled.
Euri smirked, triumphantly, at me like she won, in a way has kinda had. "Why? Because it's true?"
That stung a bit at my pride. "No!" I yelled.
Smiling, oh, so sweetly, and sneering at me, she asked, mocking me, "So you acting mature? Funny, I always thought that being mature was not quite like this. Or am I wrong?"
A rumble sounded in my throat. "What do you know? You don't know anything about me!"
I saw a wicked gleam in her eye a second before it disappeared. "I know more about you than you think."
"Whatever," I said, grumpily.
"Oh! Is someone grumpy? Did you wake on the wrong side of the bed thing morning?" And I saw her paused, and a twitch of a mocking smile at her lips. "Or was it the wrong side of your life?"
Without even thinking, I sliced my smallsword upwards, and before she could even bring up her foil-like sword, I pressed my blade against her throat. "By the way, I never said I surrendered," I mocked. "But I have a feeling that you will."
Euri sighed, shaking her head, saying, "I should've known you were just stalling. You have done that a few times and I can't seem to remember that you always stall when you are about to lose."
I stared at her, skeptically. "You're complimenting me, yet in insulting me. I don't know if I should say 'thank you' or snap at you." I paused a second before asking her if she would surrender.
"Now why would I do that?" she asked, smirkingly, in a I-know-something-that-you-don't-know tone.
Without loosening the weight on the blade, I demanded, my face inches from hers, "What have you done, and what did you do?!"
"Look down," Euri said in a mocking tone.
And I did, but I kinda wished that I didn't. Mainly because when I did, I noticed that one of Euri's hidden daggers were in her hand, and over my heart-literally. "How about a tie?" I asked in a hoping way, thinking that a tie would be better than losing.
"How about you put that big sword of yours down?" she asked me with a mischief gleam in her eye.
"Why?" I inquired, glaring at her suspiciously. And I'm not at all going to remove my sword.
"Because I want to show you something." The wicked gleam still in her eye.
I fix my position of my hand on my sword, thinking. What is she talking about? What does she want to show me?
And before I could say anything or even do anything, I hear someone clear their throat, in a attention seeking away, from the left side of me. And I swirled my head to see that my Father standing in the doorway; a amused, but a pointed look on his face.
I quickly dropped my smallsword from Euri's throat, and looked down at the soft, squishy ground underneath me. "Thank you for sparring with me, Euri," I muttered, but loud enough that it could be heard.
I looked back up when Euri dropped her dagger, saying, "It's no problem. I actually rather enjoyed sparring with someone younger than me; especially if it's the crown prince," She said my title with a wink; the gleam still in her eye.
I looked at her confused. I didn't know what she was applying; maybe it was one of the things that "I would understand when I'm older."
In front of me, Euri looked amused at my reaction. "What?" I asked.
"Nothing," she replied, a smirk still on her face.
"Wonderful job!" I suddenly heard my Father say as he approaches Euri and me. "Nice swordsmanship!" Then motioning towards Euri, he added, "And swordswomanship."
I noticed Euri blushed slightly as she stammered, "Th-tha-thank you, Your Majesty."
I smiled, amused, as Euri stuttered. She always so confident, and one compliment from my Father, brings that all down. I find that quite amusing, I thought.
"You're welcome," acknowledged my Father, before he glanced over at me, then back at her. "I always enjoy complimenting such a lovely young woman, such as yourself."
As Euri thanked my Father again, and my Father said 'you're welcome', I gagged inwardly. Gross, I thought, disgusted. That is disturbing. My Father flirting with a younger woman! Ugh. I would rather pull my eyes out than watch this.
"Evlât!" My Father demanded; snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Yes, Father?" I asked, innocently.
"Come with me," commanded my Father. I silently followed behind him; like a lamb following a shepherd.
After a few minutes of making twists and turns, my Father turned around and finally said, "It's time for your check up."
I looked at him, confused. What check up? I wondered.
He crouched down in front of me, his hands on my shoulder, a certain gleam shining in my Father's eyes. "Don't worry," my Father said, reassuring me. "You'll understand soon enough." And with that, he stood up and led me towards where my check-up was.

I woke up, groaning after being in bed for so long. I am so bored, I still could do nothing but lay on a bed which very... boring-in fact I'm so bored that I am trying to create a word that describes how bored I am. None of the word that I know of explain how bored I am, so I'm creating a new one. I am still so bored.
Rain still, occasionally, would read me a story, but they're still so tedious that I fell asleep, I still think that Rain is doing that on purpose-she hadn't admit to it yet, but I know she is doing it on purpose. Sometimes I be so bored that I would ask Rain to read me those boring stories, just so I can fall asleep. Rain still keeps on feeding me lots of food, and making me drink lots of water-sometimes I get too full. And sometimes I drink too much water. Once I drank so much water that I threw up. Too much information? I can't wait until my wrist healed, so I could finally move again! Rain still won't let me move at all-I mean at all.
She was making something again. I asked Rain what it was and Rain just put a cup to my lips, telling me to drink. But when I didn't, she said it's just fruit juice. I decided to drink it because I was thirsty. It had something else besides fruit juice in, which I knew, but I couldn't place what else was in it before I fell asleep again.

I opened my eyes and saw that I was in the Dream, again. But this time I was so woozy, and everything was spinning. I fell down. I felt so giddy, so disorientated. I never felt this groggy before. I looked up-or what I think is up-and saw something that was big, blue, silver and white coming towards me. It grasped me in its big, sharp, and pointing hands and she was holding me while they were in the air.
'Burdon, what happened to you?' asked a voice inside my head-I didn't realized it was Licá speaking to me at the time-and I laughed, thinking there's a voice inside my head. 'You're delirious,' said the voice in my head, who was actually my dragon. I kept on laughing no matter ridiculous of the reason was.
After a while, the big thing landed by some water, using its big hands to pick me up and dunk me in the water-then pulling me out quickly, then back in-multiple times until my head cleared. "Licá, stop dunking me!" I yelled as I went down again.
'I will once your head is completely cleared.'
'Licá, dunking someone's head in the water does not mean their whole body-just their head!'
'Oh,' said Licá, and she let go of me. I landed hard on the ground. Groaning, I got up and dunked my own head until Licá said I was clearheaded, which she wouldn't let me go till I was clearheaded.
"Whatever she put in that drink I'm never going to have as long as I shall live," I said.
'Good, because you're hilarious and... annoying when you're delirious,' said Licá. "Yeah I know. Honestly, people wonder why we don't drink."
'If you act like that while you're drunk, well I'm never going to drink,' said Licá. "Good, because I don't want to put people in danger," I teased.
'By the way I'm not a 'big thing' or a 'it' and my 'big, sharp, and pointing hands' are claws,' teased Licá.
I rolled my eyes and Licá pushed me into the lake with her tail. 'Oh you are so lucky you are a dragon,' I said.
The scene changed right then and there. It look like I were in someone's bedroom? Valln was siting across from me, he looks like he's meditating. I noticed I was no longer wet. Licá was no longer with me. Someone opens a door and guess who came in?
I saw King Jazer come in and shut the door behind him. King Jazer looked at me as if he was perusing me. "You're younger than I expected," said King Jazer.
"You look less crazier than I would expected," I shot back.
He frowned. "Don't you Pak Islanders have a rule that saids 'don't disrespect your elders?'"
"We also have one that saids 'don't listen to a crazy person.'"
"I'm not crazy!"
"Yeah, right. The isn't sky blue, or the grass isn't green," I said, rolling my eyes.
"Why do all Pak Islanders have to be so stubborn?" asked Jazer.
"Why are you so evil?"
"I'm not evil!" yelled Jazer.
"Yeah, right. That's like saying the sky isn't blue." I said, rolling my eyes.
"So stubborn just like your father."
I rolled my eyes.
"Why do you think I'm evil?" asked Jazer.
"Does the shoe fit?" I snapped.
"I'm guessing that one of your Pak Islander's sayings?"
"Yes, surprisingly, you got that right. I just thought that your evilness clouded your judgement."
Jazer just glared at me, while I smirked back at him. "Let me asked you this, how are your uncle and cousin?" asked Jazer, venomously.
To say that I glared daggers at Jazer is putting it nicely. "You didn't," I said.
"Oh, but I did."
"You're just like a snake," I snarled.
"I would be careful with what you say, boy. Because the words might just come and bite you in the butt. And you might even be called those names instead."
"Like I would listen to you, Jazer," I snapped.
"It's King Jazer to you," snarled Jazer.
"You're not worthy of the the title 'King.'"
"I'm not?"
"No, you're what we Pak Islanders call a tyrant." Jazer lunged for me, but I dodged out of the way, easily.
"I never like Pak Islanders too stubborn, smart, and skilled at fighting for me."
"Wow, that's the best you got?" I mocked.
"I been watching you Pak Islanders and I noticed a few things you happened to be afraid of."
"Everyone has different fears."
"But you Pak Islanders seem to have a few common fears."
"Like what?" I snapped.
"Fire, lighting, whips, needles-anything that can kill you you're afraid of. But there's one thing that Pak Islanders seem to be petrified of: things that are silver."
"So?"
"Why is that?" asked Jazer. I said nothing. "You Pak Islanders seem to be afraid of something like this," said Jazer as he pulled out a silver sword. Jazer lunged at me, but I dodged, careful to not touch the silver sword. Again, and again, Jazer would charge at me. Again, and again, I would dodge him. I was careful not to touch the silver sword, for obvious reasons. There been multiple times when Jazer had almost got me, but I was quick enough on my feet to dodge Jazer. I went for my sword, but I realized that I didn't bring it with me, or I didn't happen to have it in the dream.
"You have no weapons, but I do," I said Jazer, smirking.
"You're wrong," I snarled, while evading another blow. Jazer chuckled. I got my claw daggers out-every werewolf of Anjustlia has claw daggers, they're are just our claws in shape of daggers-and did some attacking of my own. Now it was Jazer who was on the defense and me on the offense, instead of the other way around. Sometimes Jazer was on the offense and I was defense, sometimes it was the other way around. I seemed to have the upper hand for now. Jazer swiped his sword at me, I dodged him, but I stumbled over Valln- who still seemed to be meditating. I landed on my back, the air taken out of me. Jazer pointed the silver sword at my neck.
"What do you say now?" asked Jazer, smirking.
"You're all ways going to be a tyrant," I snapped.
"Those are going to be your last words?" asked Jazer.
"Yes, bye," I said, before I disappeared and woke up.

When I opened my eyes Rain was standing over me. Her face was filled with worry. "Are you okay?" asked Rain.
"Yeah, why?" I asked.
"You were writhing and shouting. I was getting worried about you, so I send for your father," said Rain, gesturing to my Father. I realized my Father was sitting right next to me.
"Yes," said my Father, standing up from his stool. "And I was getting really perturbed about you, my boy."
"Sorry," I said.
"It's okay. Luckily, Rain here knows a lot about healing," said Father, sitting back down.
"Yes, it is lucky."
"Now sit up and eat," said Rain, using her 'healer's tone.'
"But I thought you didn't want me to move," I said, pretending to be confused.
"I don't mean all the way, only sit up a little bit." When I did what she told me to do, she put a pillow behind my back, and told me to lay back on to the pillow-so that I was sitting up only a little bit. Rain gave me some sort of soup, and some herbal tea.
Father stood up, asking, "Are you better now?"
"Yes," I said. Father was leaving when he turned back to say to Rain, "You take good care of him." Then Father left.
After I finished eating the soup and the herbal tea, Rain asked, "You didn't like it?"
"No, it was good," I said. Rain scrunched her eyebrows together. "Oh, right. Sorry people here find it insulting with we do that," I said, and I burped-it means the food was good.
"Much better. Thank you," said Rain.
"You're welcome." Rain smiled before she told me to lay back down and rest. I complained saying that I've been on my bed for months, and Rain said that is good now go to sleep. I pretended to fall asleep-I concentrated on keeping my breathing steady-and when Rain left to work on the other patients, I opened my eyes again. I didn't want to go to sleep for the obvious reasons. If that is going to happen I'm never going to go back there again.
Rain came over, presumably, to check on me after some minutes. She frowned at me when she saw that I was awake. "Go to sleep," ordered Rain.
"I don't want to."
"Aeri, you're acting like a little kid. Go to bed." I said nothing. Rain just got a towel and a bucket filled with water, obviously. She put the towel into the water and then put it over my nose. It must of had some perfume of some kind in the water because I fell asleep right then.

Question(s) of the chapter:
Who wants to own/ be bond to a dragon? Or is that just me? If you do, hop on to the comment section and explain why you want(or don't) a dragon. Me, personally, I would LOVE a dragon. A blue one, like Sapphira. Read Eragon to find out who Sapphira is.
