Council of Lord Elrond

Saphira's POV

"Why is a woman here?" the man of Gondor Boromir asks Lord Elrond.

"I am the future queen of all elves and you will show me the proper respect Boromir son of Denethor" I tell him sternly.

"My apologies your highness" he tells me bowing.

"Please continue the meeting Lord Elrond" I state and he bows his head standing up as Boromir goes back to his seat. I sat by Lord Elrond's chair in a teal gown.

"Strangers from different lands, friends of old. You've been summoned here to answer to threat of Mordor" he announces. So this is about the one ring, but why is there a hobbit here. "Middle Earth stands upon the brink of destruction, none can escape it. You will unite or you will fall" he tells us.

"Each race is bound to this fate this one doom" he tells us. "Bring forth the ring Frodo" he tells the hobbit. Frodo looks at me and I give him a reassuring smile as he walks forward placing the ring on the table.

"So it is true..." Boromir states looking at the ring and stands before he continues to speak. "In a dream, I saw the eastern sky grow dark. But in the West a pale light lingered. A voice was crying: 'Your doom is near at hand'" he explains as he approaches the ring. "Isildur's Bane is found" he states reaching for it.

"Boromir!"Elrond and I yell to get his attention, but he still reaches out to the ring.

"Ash nazg durbatulûk, ash nazg gimbatul, ash nazg thrakatulûk agh burzum-ishi krimpatul"Gandalf speaks in the black speech. (Translation: One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the Darkness bind them.) Elrond and I place our hands on our heads as we get a mild headache.

"Never before has any voice uttered the words of that tongue here in Imladris"I tell Gandalf and Elrond nods his head in agreement.

"I do not ask your pardon, Princess Saphira and Master Elrond. For the Black Speech of Mordor may yet be heard in every corner of the West" Gandalf tells us. "The Ring is altogether evil" he states and I nod my head in agreement.

"It is a gift, a gift to the foes of Mordor" Boromir tells everyone from his seat."Why not use this Ring?" he asks as he gets up to pace.  "Long has my father, the Steward of Gondor, kept the forces of Mordor at bay. By the blood of our people are your lands kept safe! Give Gondor the weapon of the enemy. Let us use it against him" he announces.

"You cannot wield it! None of us can. The One Ring answers to Sauron alone. It has no other master" Aragorn tells him.

"And what would a ranger know of this matter?" Boromir asks him.

"This is no mere ranger" I tell him as Legolas stands to protect his friend.

"He is Aragorn, son of Arathorn. You owe him your allegiance" Legolas tells Boromir.

"Aragorn? This... is Isildur's heir?" Boromir asks not looking impressed.

"And heir to the throne of Gondor" Legolas & I add.

"Havo dad, Legolas" Aragorn tells my brother in elvish. (Translation: Sit down, Legolas.)

"Gondor has no king, Gondor needs no king" Boromir states returning to his seat.

"Aragorn is right, we cannot use it" Gandalf tells everyone present.

"You have only one choice, the Ring must be destroyed" Elrond states.

"Then what are we waiting for?" a dwarf asks standing with his axe. He approaches the table and swings his axe down hard. But it breaks the blow knocking him off his feet. I notice Frodo grab his head as if he was in pain.

"The Ring cannot be destroyed, Gimli, son of Glóin, by any craft that we here possess. The Ring was made in the fires of Mount Doom. Only there can it be unmade. It must be taken deep into Mordor and cast back into the fiery chasm from whence it came. One of you must do this" Elrond explains.

"One does not simply walk into Mordor. Its black gates are guarded by more than just Orcs. There is evil there that does not sleep. And the great Eye is ever watchful. It is a barren wasteland. Riddled with fire and ash and dust. The very air you breathe is a poisonous fume. Not with ten thousand men could you do this. It is folly" Boromir states.

"Have you heard nothing Lord Elrond has said? The Ring must be destroyed" Legolas says standing up again.

"And I suppose you think you're the one to do it?!" Gimli asks jumping to his feet.

"And if we fail, what then?! What happens when Sauron takes back what is his?!" Boromir asks.

"I will be dead before I see the Ring in the hands of an Elf!"Gimli shouts. It starts an argument between elves, men and Dwarves. "Never trust an elf!" he shouts over the arguing. I hear Frodo trying to say something and stand up for the first time to my full height letting Katara out a little.

"Enough!" I roar and the arguing seizes immediately and I calm down. "Mister Frodo has something to say" I tell them in my normal voice. I sit back down and Frodo steps forward for everyone to see him.

"I will take the Ring to Mordor. Though — I do not know the way" Frodo states.

"I will help you bear this burden, Frodo Baggins, as long as it is yours to bear" Gandalf promises placing a reassuring hand on Frodo's shoulder.

"If by my life or death, I can protect you, I will. You have my sword" Aragorn tells Frodo.

"And you have my bow" Legolas states stepping forward.

"Brother what?" I try to ask, but he gives me a look that says we'll discuss this later. I bow my head to him as Gimli tells Frodo he has his axe. Boromir then walks over to the group looking around at the council.

"You carry the fate of us all little one. If this is indeed the will of the Council, then Gondor will see it done" he promises joining the group.

"Heh!" a voice exclaims and I see Sam jumping out of a bush running over to Frodo's side. "Mister Frodo is not goin' anywhere without me!" he states.

"No indeed, it is hardly possible to separate you even when he is summoned to a secret council and you are not" Elrond states in an amused tone.

"Wait! We are coming too!"two voices shout and Pippin runs out from behind a pillar with Merry.

"You'd have to send us home tied up in a sack to stop us" Merry states.

"Anyway you need people of intelligence on this sort of mission, quest... thing" Pippin adds.

"Well that rules you out Pip" Merry tells him and I giggle. Elrond looks at me and I stand up before approaching Frodo.

"Frodo you have been through so much already and I hate to see you go through more pain. But I know if anyone can do this it is you" I tell him as I kneel before him. "Though I cannot come, I know we shall meet again before your quest is complete" I assure him. Then go back to stand by Lord Elrond.

"Nine companions... So be it! You shall be the Fellowship of the Ring" he announces.

"Great! Where are we going?" Pippin asks and I shake my head smiling at him. I then grab my brothers arm dragging him away from the council. He has a lot of explaining to do and I'll talk to Aragorn later as well.
