Uttara had been in her room, her mom asked her to stay inside till the guests arrived and it would be unseemly for bride  to be seen out of her room early, but she was surprised when loud arguments were heard from outside ,she stepped out of her room to find the reason and found Chira'sj mom shouting at someone.

She got worried that she walked towards them and surprised to find it was her Bhabhi who was being shouted at , Uttara had believed that her brother hired her sister in law as wedding planner in hopes of reconciliation, yet they fought with each other at every instance that she began to worry about them.

Now her eyes searched to find her brother who has been missing from the scene ,it took her few minutes to find the reason for the outburst .Apparently one of the heirloom jewelry brought by Chiraj's mom was missing and she was blaming it on her Swara bhabhi .

Uttara tried to speak up in her defense, but as if noticing her intention . Her mom came to her side and place her hand in a firm grip on her shoulder warning her against it ,Uttara wanted to defy her yet when she looked at Swara bhabhi , she  was shaking her head in answer as well .

Yet she was upset to witness such scenes and no one was speaking up in defense of her sister in law . She hoped for her brother arrival soon because only he can do something about it compared to mute spectators of her family.

Swara stood in silence as insults were hurled at her, she wanted to speak up but kept silent for Uttara sake . She didn't know how the heirloom went missing, she remember placing it in the bag as she got into the taxi . Ragini, her sister left to buy some last minutes necessaries that she didn't even have her sister by her side .

Her eyes kept searching for him , she didn't think she  wanted him to come to her defense, she wanted Uttara engagement to go off without a problem which means taking the blame and remaining silent for the sake of it yet she wanted to see him for support or maybe to see someone who believed her amidst the accusations . It was at that moment her eyes found him walking inside and stayed looking at him .

Sanskar had to leave when he got a call saying they need him to identity a body and see if it was his cousin, he didn't want to upset anyone with the news before checking it out .So left without a word to anyone .

And it may have been the 20th body he checked in the last six months but each time he dreaded the moment when they lifted the covers, and frankly  he breathed a sigh of relief to see a stranger face . He didn't have time to relax as he didn't want to miss his sister engagement so drove back home . Only to stumble upon yet another chaos where his wife was in the line of fire .

" So finally you arrived , one brother went missing the other keeps hidden for the most of the time . So what was more important than your sister engagement " Chriaj's mom voice rang out as soon as she saw him.

Sanskar kept silent unwilling to bring up that he just went to a mortuary . He was sure he would be considered breaking several rules of tradition and it would be frowned upon as he went just before a auspicious event . Yet he couldn't wait ,he already waited for six whole months to find his cousin.

" Fine ,keep your silence. But answer me why would you hire a wedding planner who is a thief and who  steal our heirloom " Chiraj's mom spoke up yet again making Sanskar look towards his wife .

" She wouldn't have stolen anything " Sanskar hated that his immediate response to speak up in her defense without thinking and he noticed his mother furious expression and the silent shake of her head as if she was disappointed he come to his wife's defense .

But he realized his error when the argument escalated after his defense , Chiraj's mom went on to the offensive and called Swara with horrid names and indicated she seduced him for money as well . Again he opened his mouth in defense of her and inadvertently spilled the truth that she was his wife .

" You told me , they are divorced. " Chriaj's mom turned towards his mother now and from the flash of anger in his mother face, he knew he would be held responsible for the said event as well, even when he had been completely unaware of his mom words .

And he heard his mother words assuring Chiraj's mom that their marriage had reached its end ,he knew that and yet to hear it with such conviction made him falter a bit as the truth settled in ,sure he had been angry with his wife for walking out, sure he had planned never to let her back in as his wife and of course the real reason he hired her was to torture for all the pain he felt at her abandonment . Still he hated hearing the truth from his mom .

"Okay fine ,I will allow this engagement on one condition . If your son promised on his sister head that he will never get back with his Bengali wife " Chiraj's mom gave the final ultimatum of her own ,it was his turn to be surprised by it .

He heard his mother insisting him to do the same, he heard the silence from others as everyone expected him to do so and finally he heard it from her as well .

"Do it Sanskar , Uttara happiness is in stake " his wife spoke up as if it was so easy for him to give up on them . And the only ray of hope he had been his sister who was shaking her head in answer .

It hurt him to destroy his sister happiness , a brother should be able to protect his sister and not cause her pain ,yet he couldn't do it . Not promise on the stake of his marriage for the sake of his sister . 

" Then this engagement won't happen " with that proclamation Chiraj's mom  left with her son  leaving Sanskar  alone with his family and yet again being the reason for her sister unhappiness . Sanskar expected his mom anger but not the mark of her hand against his cheek ,it didn't hurt but her next words sure split his heart in two .       

" From this day ,I have only one daughter " she announced in anger, the same mother who stood by him when he was in the wrong ,now choose to ignore his entire existence .          

Before he could speak up ,Ragini rushed inside the house with the missing heirloom . Apparently it was found on the taxi and the driver had been kind enough to call them to return it back .       

" Why did you have to speak up in my defense ,see the jewelry was found and I would have cleared my name later . Now Uttara entire marriage got broken because of you " his wife words shouldn't have hurt , he was immune to her words that what he believed until at that moment . It sparked the anger he held back .        

" What if it wasn't found Swara, have you thought about it , should I have let the police drag you out of this house as a thief and or did you want me to promise that our relationship was over " he shouted at her ,already the weight of his failure to protect his sister was crushing him ,add to that his wife words weren't helping .      

 But he noticed the moment she thought about it and he also noticed the moment she come to the conclusion and that was when he understood his wife ,she would have done it . Promised anything or even spend life time in jail for others ,that was who she was always been and he in his love forgot all about it .        

" You would have did it " he spoke up for the first time understanding the extent she would sacrifice for others ,he thought he was the one being abandoned by her but in truth she abandoned them for others .     

 " Yes ,I would have done it Sanskar .For Uttara happiness " She answered back in anger and the anger he held back for six months was gone in the blink of an eye and he had nothing more left to say because for once he understood her.          

He held on to his anger when she went behind his word to help others, he thought he was pushed aside for others but now he understood she would always push everything aside for others including her very own life .        

 "And I would have lived happily ever after right bhabhi " a new voice joined the argument and Sanskar was surprised to see his sister walking towards them .    

 " Uttara ," his wife tried to rush to comfort her but Sanskar was surprised when his sister walked to his side instead .   

 " Answer me Bhabhi ,I would have lived happily with Chiraj after destroying my brother happiness ,after sending my bhabhi to jail .Right because only you get to have the heart to make big sacrifices and I should accept it and move on with my life , that not how family works bhabhi.     

If you thought so then you are wrong , and also you don't have the sole ownership to be selfless ,as I heard you kept saying it was for my happiness . Tell me honestly do you think I would have lived happily with Chiraj ,the man who walked away without a word . Tell me with whom would I have been happy , a man like Chiraj who didn't even raise a single word against his mom for me or with a man like my brother who went against everyone for you .       

Your love is selfless bhabhi that you would suffer and sacrifice for everyone ,and my brother is selfish in his love.  He will always protect his loved ones and never would leave them . And I rather have a husband like my brother ." Uttara spoke up in his defense and then hugged him in a show of support that he didn't deserve . He stood in the way of his sister happiness and yet she was the only one who supported him . He hurt her the most today by his actions and yet she choose to  remain by his side .
