Afterdeath (and important notice on bottom)

It was quiet. The dark was of the VOID seeming to just suck the life, and the sound, out of everything.

Geno sat and watched, the brightness of the SAVE, the CONTINUE, and the RESET button.

Geno slumped as he continued to stare at the large buttons, his single eye socket dull and lifeless. It had been forever since he had moved, forever since the pain of the horrid gash that had been inflicted on his was no longer there, the pain no longer felt.

Geno coughed and promptly spit out a small mouthful of marrow, the red immediately swallowed by the darkness of the VOID. Geno sighed at the sight, only feeling apathy from the action.

Nothing mattered when you were literally trapped in a zone that time did not matter. He sniffled, the memories of home filling his mind and consuming him.

He missed them, he missed them so much, and he could never see them again, could never go back and have his normal, and happy, life back.

Geno blinked as Red tears dropped into his hands, the red standing out against his bones. It reminded him of Papyrus' scarf, just more...corrupted.

Geno continued to cry, lifting his hands and cupping them so that he could catch his tears. Suddenly, anger filled Geno and he threw the tears up, allowing them to be swallowed up.

Oh how he hated his magic, the color stained and tainted, a shadow of the warmth it once had. Nothing compared to the beautiful blue that his magic had been. Oh how he hated, how he loathed it.

He had been so stupid to think that he had been able to stop the human. So stupid to think that maybe he could have made a difference, had been able to save them all from the fate of being a mindless, and willing, puppet.

Heh...how stupid.

It was peaceful. The birds were singing. The flowers were blooming bigger and brighter than ever, and the humans and monsters peacefully walking. Some even playing, the luscious grass catching them when they fall.

But, if you ever made the mistake of blinking. If you ever thought that this happiness, this peace, were to last forever. Well, you were a very naive and stupid person.

Because if you ever did make the mistake of blinking, of ever taking advantage of this peace, you're whole world would fall upside down.

Because the next minute, the sky would darken, humans and monsters alike would run for shelter, to escape what was to come because they knew. The flowers would whither and die, all in perfect harmony. The birds would stop their beautiful songs, and the world would seem to be so quiet that it was deafening.

At least, that's what everyone believed. For you see, this world depends on certain beings, certain beings that can hold this world in the palm of their hands, can bend and shape it to their will. Can destroy anything they want with just a look, but... they don't.

Instead, they provide food, with land, with the rain that slowly provides life in its own way, with the newest technology, with peace, and with LIFE in general. Seeing this, the humans and monsters let go of their fear and eventually began to worship these divine beings. Beings who are so filled with love, compassion, and purity. Everyone loved these beings, healed them up alive the clouds, above the sky themselves.

However, with absolute "purity" comes absolute "evil". With the amazing deeds of the other gods, there needed to be other gods who are the opposite. Who, instead of bringing hope and prosperity, brought destruction and death.

That...was how the embodiments of Death were born. Two monsters, skeleton monsters no less, were chosen for this task and are now forever burdened with capturing the SOULS of the dead. Burdened of forever hearing the screams of SOULS, of having to withstand the agony of curses being dug into their bones. The hateful words forever inscribed into their skulls.

They also had the terrible curse that no living beings would ever want....

The curse of having the Touch Of Death.

Because of this curse, these two monsters were never allowed to touch anything. Nothing living was able to withstand the might of just one of their touches, not even the gods.

Because of this ability, the gods shut them out. Prohibiting them from interacting with others, and only letting out to do their job.

And boy, did they hate their job. These two skeleton monsters despised the hateful stares, the cusses that were thrown at them, and many other things.

And this has been going on for millennia!! This sick game of Death, and so one of the brothers finally decided to do something about it, for their brother.

The older took that leap, and because of that, everyone's lives were changed. Whether it be for the better, or for the worse? No one knows yet.

Reaper grunted as he felt himself be squeezed and pulled in different directions. He was starting to regret going into the mysterious portal, but he felt intent. The intent made his SOUL squeeze in sympathy, whoever it was sounded so sad. He had to help the monster.

With all of this in mind, Reaper didn't notice that the pulling and squeezing had stopped, leaving him slightly hunched over, gripping tight to his scythe.

And then, there were hands on him, gently caressing him, Reaper stopped, his SOUL pounding in terror for this unknown monster. Bracing himself, Reaper tensed, fully expecting the monster to fall to dust like normal. Instead...

"Um...hello? Are you okay there buddy?"

Reaper's eye sockets shot open, why wasn't the monster dust yet?? Looking up, Reaper was shocked at what he saw, holding was another skeleton monster, that looked exactly like him.

"Wh-what am I..."

Reaper couldn't finish the sentence, he was just too shocked.

On the flip side, Geno was also surprised and confused about the new and appearance of this new monster. He had noticed when the monster appeared that he was tense, hunched into himself, tightly holding a...a scythe?! Ignoring the huge weapon, Geno gingerly picked up the monster, only to stare in shock at the similarities!!!! Why did this monster look so much like him?!?

However, that wasn't what was important, Geno noticed that the other skeleton monster was still, almost with fear. Clearing his throat, Geno managed, "Um...hello? Are you okay there buddy?"

That seemed to snap the other monster out of it, and when he looked up Geno wasn't surprised to see that the monster was surprised and confused as well.

"Wh-what am I..."

The skeleton didn't finish the sentence, instead trailing off and looking down, and panicking. The monster quickly shot up, a
terrified look in his eye lights. Scooting back, the monster babbled on how sorry he was and that he shouldn't be here, before stopping completely.

Geno noticed a look of shock on his skull, before the skeleton meekly asked,

"H-how are you not Dust yet??"

Geno blinked and looked down at his injury before laughing. After a while, he stopped and had to explain to the monster his situation.

The whole time he was telling his story, the skeleton monster stared, and listened. He dutifully listened until the story was done. Finally, when Geno was done, he noticed that a few tears had escaped his eye sockets. Geno quickly attempted to wipe them away before the monster saw but they just kept on falling.

Reaper stared, he didn't know what to do to comfort this monster. The only thing he could do was follow his instincts, but his instincts told him to go and hug him?! Why?! He could dust him?! But the instinct persisted and a voice shot at the back of his mind, explaining that the look-alike didn't Dust before, so why now?

So Reaper moved, and before he knew it, he was at the monster's side, gently pushing away tears. His hands trembled in fear, expecting to see a pile of dust now. But..it didn't happen.

The monster only looked up, his eye lights big and large tears gathered in his re sockets.

Reaper trembled, barely managing to stop himself from tackling the monster and never letting go, but the monster needed the comfort. So, Reaper settle back and hesitantly sat in the other's lap, before hugging him.

Geno paused, he hadn't expected the monster to come and comfort him like this. The way that he acted earlier made Geno sure that this monster would not like physical touch. For reasons..he didn't know.

It then occurred to him... he just shared his life story with a complete stranger?!? What was he doing?!

As Geno was about to push off the skeleton, Geno noticed that the monster was shaking. He seemed hesitant and scared but also determined. Seeing this, Geno put his hands down again, instead resting them on the monster's hip bones. Geno blushed, this was nice.

Reaper trembled as he continued to hug the monster, scared that he went to far and that his monster would dust. He startled when he felt bony hands gently grip his hip bones. Reaper blushed, that...felt nice. He didn't really know what he was doing but the feeling soothed him.

Gathering his courage, Reaper looked up and gently cradled the other monster's skull.

"A-are you..feeling better?"

Geno startled at the question but managed a smile. He nodded and continued to hug the skeleton in his lap, the long robe covering the whole bottom of Geno's lap.

Reaper smiled when the other nodded. That's a good sign. Reaper snuggled back into Geno, content on staying there.

"I guess... my story is next."

A light laugh brought a dull flush to his cheekbones and an excited feeling in his SOUL. He smiled but then a thought came into his skull.

"I guess...we should also tell each other our names too??"

Geno stopped, he then resisted the urge to slap his forehead. How could he forget such an important detail?! But..the irony didn't escape him. The thought had a laugh escaping his teeth before another one, and another one. Soon, he was full on laughing. Happy tears gathered in his sockets from laughing so hard.

Reaper jolted when the other started laughing hysterically. Reaper chuckled, his laugh sure was contagious. Reaper's laughs also started to grow until the both of them were laughing hysterically, for once, the darkness of the VOID a distant thought. They continued to cuddle and pet each other, their delighted laughter the only thing you could hear.

They slowly brought their foreheads together, they got closer and closer until they could feel each other's breaths. Softly, they both leaned foreword and gently clinked their teeth together, a soft and warm feeling overwhelming their SOUL.

They separated, and looked into each other's eyes.

"Yeah, I guess we should."

It really was...love at first sight.
