I sighed, "I don't need to go to the doctors, I'm perfectly fine." Christine shook her head, "you're going. That's final, you need to get blood work done." I sighed dramatically as I looked at my darker skinned sister. She was blessed with dark eyes and darker hair. She looked just like our parents, as I looked more like our grandparents.
"I just don't get why I need to, I'm not sick!" She looked at me with a hint of annoyance as she drove. "Are we really still on this Y/n? Last time we were there they said you had high blood pressure and it's better to be safe than sorry." I sat back in my chair and rolled my eyes. I didn't see a point in arguing any further so I surrendered and stayed quite.
Once we got to the doctor's office I tried to think of a good way to make an excuse to try and get out of this. "Did you know that they're letting monsters become doctors now?" Christine said trying to distract me from my nightmare. At least she was trying to help I guess. "Yeah, I'm glad they're getting more rights. Looks like humans are finally learning from history."
The nurse came in the room, he smiled brightly and shook my hand. "Hello, you must be Miss L/n." I nodded, "That's me." He pointed to the direction of the lad, "Doctor Font will be with you shortly. I also am required to ask if you're ok with having a monster doctor, we wouldn't want you to be stressed around your doctor." I nodded, "I-" I was quickly interrupted by Christine. "Oh my god! You have a monster doctor! I'm jealous." I smiled nervously, as the doctor laughed a little. "I'll get the doctor then." The nurse led me to a white room filled with all sorts of tubs and containers. Then. . . I saw it, needles. It felt like they were everywhere. I felt my entire body stiffen. I turned to Christine with a pleading look.
Her face was hard, "Y/n, you have to do this. Tell you what, I'll get you whatever you want from the store on the way home." I looked at her slightly annoyed. "I'm not a kid, you can't get me to do what you want with sweets." She sighed, "come on, it won't take long." I sighed and sat down in the chair. As soon as I sat down a short skeleton came into the room, "Heya, I'm Doctor Font." He held out his hand to shake, I shook it weakly. "Not to be rude Doctor but can we get this over with." Christine walked over to him star struck. "Wow! You're a skeleton, that's so cool, would you mind answering some que-" I stared at her. "Maybe later then." She says backing away from the doctor.
"I'm sorry Doctor Font, you see my sister has a phobia of needles. She just wants to get this over with." The doctor smiled, "Oh I understand and I know how to help." Doctor Font got set up and just before he stuck the needle into me he summoned a dog-like skull. "What is that!" Christine yells as I look at it in amazement. "What is that?" I asked, "It's called a Gaster Blaster, it's harmless unless it needs to attack." By the time I looked at Doctor Font he was putting a band-aid on my arm. "All done, see that wasn't so bad was it?"
"We need to hang out sometime so you can show me more of your tricks." I said jokingly, "Sure, name a time and place." Christine was on it, "Here's the address to our favorite park. Are you free Sunday?" He nodded, "Great, see you there!"
Sunday rolled around and we went to the park, Christine being as obsessed as she is, wrote questions and brought her camera. When we got to the park we found Doctor Font sitting under a tree napping. I laughed a little. "Hello, Doctor Font!" Christine said excitedly waking him up. He smiled at us, "Heya, how's my favroit patient." I laughed a little, "Well you're pretty fast at picking favorites." He laughed, "well I don't needle think about it for long. You're my only patient." Christine laughed and I shook my head. "Dear god that was terrible," I said, yet I found myself laughing. "Anyway, do you mind answering some questions?" Christine asked.
Christine sure didn't waste any time. As soon as he said he'd answer all of her questions she started spitting out every question on her list. It was like a lightning round for a game show. Although I won't deny I did take notes of some of his answers. I learned his name was Sans, he can form a body out of magic and that was about the time I fell asleep. By the time I woke up Sans was showing off his magic. He opened his mouth to show a tongue and I saw he had summoned a few bones. Christine took notes and I yawned. "So Sans, what do you like to do for fun?" I asked trying to think of some way to be included. "Nap, tell puns, study since. It was harder to do that in the underground but it's much easier up here." "Why did you become a doctor?"
"Why not, I mean I dealt with human souls underground and I didn't think it would be that different. Boy was I wrong, humans don't even believe in their souls anymore, or at least not the type of soul they have. I became confused,
"What do you mean 'the type of souls we have?"
He explained souls to me and I quickly wanted to know more. "How do you find out what kind of soul you have?" I asked, "The color," he said simply. We must have talked for hours, I actually began to take physical notes on my phone. I caught him smiling at me the way a teacher smiles at their student when the student is interested in the subject. I looked around and noticed it was dark, "god what happened to the light? I didn't know we were here that long." I looked at Christine and she was dead asleep. I rubbed the back of my neck. "I guess my sister and I aren't different." We both laughed a little before standing up. I waved at Sans, "We should hang out some more," Sans smiled. "Yeah, but next time bring a notebook or some paper or something to take notes with."
