What I would assume is common knowledge for everyone, is that love takes time.
It may take as quick as a few days maybe even weeks before you fall for someone.
At times it may take months, even years if you will, before you realize your love for someone.
Then there are those people who feel and instant spark a day or two after they just met the person. Sometimes even an instant connection.
Now let's see who this story shows it.
·~·~·~·~·~
Frisk's POV
"Your majesty! Get down from that tree!" I hear someone shout out to me.
"In a minute, Undyne!" I call back before turning back it front of me. "Come here boy!"
I watched as the little white dog that, very dangerously, walk towards the ends of the branch of the tree before it turned around and happily barked back. I reached out and gestured for it to come over to me, while my other hand grip tightly on the branch of the tree as I tried not to fall.
"This is very dangerous!" She shouts.
"I'm fine Undyne! Shesh!" I say.
The small white dog began to walk towards me before finally jumping in my arms. He barked excitedly as he licked my face. I smiled and giggled as I brought him away from my face.
"Thanks a lot Snow, now my face is covered in dog slobber." I say as I wiped my face with ends of my dress.
He barks again as I hugged him and leaned my back against the trunk of the tree, closing my hazel brown eyes. I feel the cold autumn wind start to blow lightly, blowing some strands of my chocolate brown hair that was on my face and blowing some of the brown autumn leaves of the many trees as I sighed in relief.
"Okay, now that you have your annoying dog, you have to come down!" Undyne says. "The king and queen have been looking for you!"
I groaned. "Again? Let me guess, another suitor?"
"Sadly, yes. Also they would like to discuss plans about the upcoming masquerade ball with you." She explains.
"Just tell whoever is there that I said no. If they ask why, just tell them that I'm not interested and will never be interested." I say, patting the little white dogs head as he barked.
"If I could, your majesty, I would. But you know that you have to be the one to tell them yourself." She says.
"Mother and father will get mad at me if I say no again." I said.
"Do you have a choice?"
I was silent for a moment before sighing and opening my eyes.
"No."
"Well, lets go."
I groaned as I sat upright and lightly kissed the white dog's forehead before I held him out.
"Undyne!" I call out. "Catch him!"
Undyne turns around as I let Snowball go, letting him fall. Undyne quickly catches him while I jumped down, holding the ends of my frilly dress. I hate wearing dresses like this. There too frilly, itchy, and really hot. I can't to change it later. Once my feet landed on the grassy ground of the castle garden, Undyne rolled her eyes and handed Snowball over to me.
"Now lets get this over with." I say as I began to walk towards the castle..
"Sometimes I wonder how your a princess." Undyne shakes her head.
"Hey! I never asked for this." I retort.
·~·~·~·~·~
The sound of trumpets can be heard behind the two gigantic double doors as they slowly began to open, revealing a long red carpet that lead up to five thrones, two being occupied by King Asgore and Queen Toriel. Aka, my parents. As the trumpets continued to play, Undyne walked beside me, a bright glowing blue sphere in her hand.
"Is this really necessary?" I quietly whisper to Undyne.
"Not necessary, but I have no authority to say otherwise." She whispers back.
When we finally made it in front of them, I held the ends of my dress and did a small curtsy, to be polite and give respect, at least that's what they taught me.
"Presenting her majesty, Princes Francesca the Human Dreemurr." Undyne announced.
"Good afternoon mother, father." I greeted.
"My child, where have you been?" Toriel asks, worriedly.
"I'm fine, I was just in the castle gardens playing with Snowball." I say as Snowball barks, as if to agree. "More like hiding away from you guys..." I quietly muttered.
"Well since you are here, we can finally discus about you getting married." Asgore says.
"Ugh... not this again." I crossed my arms.
"Now, now young lady, we've talked about this before." He started. "You will be turning eighteen soon and you need to-"
"-find someone you will be betrothed to so that you may one day rule over the kingdom as queen." I finished. "But I'm only turning eighteen! I'm too young! Why don't you let Chara rule over? She's turning eighteen too!"
"Chara may be turning eighteen as well, but that does not change the fact that you are still the older one, my child." Toriel answers.
"If we could, we would let Chara rule over. She is mature enough to understand her roll. However as tradition, the eldest child of the family must be the one that will take our place." He says.
Give Chara power? Ya because that's such a wonderful idea.
Man, why can't we be like those kingdoms where the son has to rule over. Asriel would have been king and I could live my life in peace without mom and dad making me do all these responsible royal duties.
"Anyway, before we stray of from the topic at hand." Toriel says. "We invited a prince from a neighboring kingdom to come over to the upcoming masquerade ball, and we would appreciate it if you would at least try to talk to him this time. Please?" Toriel requests.
"And don't chase him away with Snowball, again." Asgore says.
"That wasn't my fault last time! That last prince was making fun of my little snow poff." I turn Snowball around and pressed my nose against his as his tail wags. "He was a mean old princy wincy. Hurting my sweet little snow poff. Wasn't he Snowball? Yes he was, yes he was!" I cooed, smiling brightly.
He barked back happily.
"Although it was me those other times, but don't tell them Snow." I whisper as I winked at him.
I can see Asgore place a hand (Paw? Hoof since their goats? Idk.) on his forehead, then rubbing the bridge of his nose.
"Maybe we should discuss this later tonight at dinner with your brother and sister..." Asgore sighs.
"Just please make sure to at least talk to him. Alright my child?" Toriel requests.
"Alright mother. May I leave now?" I asked.
"Yes you may, my child. Just don't get into any trouble this time." Toriel nods.
"Thank you."
I bowed down before Undyne escorted me to my room.
·~·~·~·~·~
"Ugh..!" I groaned loudly as I plopped down on my queen sized bed, face flat on a pillow and Snowball going to sleep on his doggy bed.
"Let me guess, mother and father told you about the prince that will be coming to the ball and are making you talk to him?" Chara asks as she was sited down and reading her book, not even looking up at me.
"Mhmm." My voice muffled out through the pillow.
"I'm suprised their still trying. This next prince is gonna be like, what? The eleventh one?" Asriel says, putting his own book down on his lap.
"Twelfth actually." I corrected, rolling around to face them both. "I just need a walk to clear my head."
I stood up and headed over to my walk-in closet. I began to rummage through the many arrays of fancy dresses and looked for something simple to wear while Chara and Asriel started to read again their books.
"Father will have your head if he finds out your going to sneak out of the castle again." She says.
"I know." I say, continuing to look through my piles of clothes.
"Why can't you just walk around the castle grounds? Like the garden, that place is really big with many fresh flowers, fresh air, and the gazebo near the fountain, there's also the garden hedge maze to get lost in, or just around the castle halls." Asriel suggests.
"Because we've been cooped up inside this castle for far too long. I would rather explore the village again." I say.
Soon I found the perfect clothes to wear. I took off my frilly dress and put on a more simpler and more comfortable purple one, black stockings, a pair of brown boots, and a caramel brown hood. I then came out of the room and quickly grabbed a basket and removed my crown, heading over to my door room.
"I'll be back in a bit, guys!" I say, opening the door.
"Just make sure you don't stay out long, alright?" Asriel reminds me.
"And make sure you don't get caught. See you around, Frisk." Chara says.
"Farewell!" I bid them as I went out of the room and closed the door behind me.
·~·~·~·~·~
"Thank your Mr. Gatekeeper!" I slightly bow and wave to the gatekeeper.
"Be careful out there young princess." He smiles back before closing the gates to the castle.
I started to walk towards the direction of the village with my basket in hand. I walked for a good few minutes until I begun to hear the sound of people and monsters chatting, the sound of carts that carried many different supplies as they were pulled around by work horses, the laughter of children while they ran around and played with each other, and it was very refreshing to hear all of these different noises compared to the quiet castle.
I finally reached the village and saw many people and monsters out and about, talking, laughing, and enjoying themselves. I walked through the village with my hood up, hoping no one will notice that it was me.
"Yo Francesca!" I hear someone call from behind.
I turned around and was met with a familiar face, smile brightly at me. I immediately covered his mouth with one hand and placed a finger over my mouth, gesturing for him to be quiet.
"MK can you be a little more quiet?! And call me Frisk!" I whisper/shouted to the yellow monster in front of me.
He removes my hand from his mouth as he smiles sheepishly, laughing nervously. "Whoops. I forget you don't want people to know that your the princess sometimes." He says.
MK or Monster Kid, as most monsters and people call him, is the only monster in the village that knows about me. He's a great guy, I consider him a really close friend of mine, even if we don't hang out a lot.
"Its been a while since I've seen you. What brings you back to the village?" He asks as we started to walk.
"I just needed some fresh air after being stuck inside that castle for to long." I reply.
"Although, shouldn't you be at the castle and helping the king and queen plan the ball with your brother and sister?" He tilts his head to the side a little.
"I know I should, but I'm not." I say. "Look I came out here to not talk about anything related to any responsibilities that I should be doing."
"Oh, I'm sorry. If it makes you feel better though, I'll be attending the ball this year." He says.
"Really? Awesome! The ball won't be so boring anymore!" I fist pumped in the air. "Alright!"
We continued to walk through the village and just talked for a while. Eventually we ended up in the market place that was swarming with many of the villagers. I smiled brightly as I see all the different arrays of fruits, vegetables, and other goods that were in the many shops and stalls. I see MK playfully smirk as he nudges my shoulder.
"Are you going to buy out another shop again?" He teases.
"H-hey! I didn't buy everything last time. I just, you know, both a lot of sweets last time and they were really delicious and- Oh screw you! You know very well that I have a sweet tooth!" I say, my face flushed in embarrassment, as I slapped him.
He laughs. "I'm sorry. I couldn't help it, princess."
"Don't call me that." I warn him.
"Princess~" He grins.
"MK stop."
"Would you rather I call you shortie again?"
"Again with my height?! I know I'm short!"
"Shortie~"
"Why you-"
I didn't finish my sentence as I he runs of to who knows where, laughing.
"Hey! Get back here!" I smile a little as I chased after him.
But it didn't last long as I soon lost him in the crowd of people and monsters. I scanned around the sea of villagers and couldn't find him. What? Where did he go? I squeezed through the crowed, still determined to find him.
"MK!" I called out.
There was no response.
Did I really just lose him? Darn it!
(Play the music above :3)
"MK! Where did yo-?"
I was interrupted when I heard the sound of what seemed to be a guitar or maybe a ukulele start to play. The melody was melodious and relaxing as a smooth voice began to sing along with the tune. Curious, I strayed away from the crowd and followed the beautiful music. I'm sure MK wouldn't mind.
After I escaped the crowd, I saw there by a bench in the near by park, a monster sited on one of the benches playing a ukulele with their back turned towards me. I couldn't see their face, but I could see that they were wearing a simple flaxen colored shirt with a blue jacket over it, beige pants, and black dressed shoes.
I couldn't help but close my eyes for a bit and listened to the music for a bit, the corners of my lips slightly tugging up into a small smile.
I soon opened my eyes and being the friendly person I was, walked towards the stranger to say hi.
When I reached them, I lightly tapped their shoulder and greeted them. "Hello."
(Stop the music :3 I mean If you want to of course X3)
They jumped in surprise, nearly dropping their ukulele, as they turned around. I came face to face with a skeleton monster, their left eye socket glowing a faint blue as one of his boney hands was clutching his chest.
"Oh I'm sorry. I didn't mean to rattle your bones there." I giggled.
"Maybe a little warning would be better next time?" He grins a little, calming down as his eye socket becomes a white shade.
"Sorry, but I heard your wonderful playing and couldn't help but say hi." I smiled.
"Thanks." He says, sitting back down.
"Your not from around here, are you?" I say, sitting next to him.
"And what might have given that away?" He raises his nonexistent eyebrow.
"Well I know almost everyone in this village by face and I defiantly don't remember seeing your face around these parts." I explain.
"Very observant." He chuckles. "Ya, I'm not from this village. I come here from a neighboring kingdom too attend a masquerade ball here actually."
"Well its a pleasure to meet you Mr..."
"Sans. Sans the skeleton." He extends his hand out.
I grabbed his hand and politely shook it. "A pleasure to meet you Mr. Skeleton. I'm France- I mean I'm Frisk! Ummm, Frisk the Human." I introduce myself, laughing nervously.
I don't want him to know that I'm the princess. He might treat me differently like everyone else if he knows that I'm the princess. I just want to be treated equally like everyone else. I don't want to feel like I'm better than everyone else.
"The pleasure is all mine m'lady." He responds as he then brings my hand close to his face and giving it a light kiss.
I can feel my face heat up slightly as I brushed some strands of my hair out of my face, letting out another nervous laugh.
"A-anyways... welcome to the kingdom! You said you came here to attend the Annual Autumn Masquerade Ball tomorow?" I start.
"I was more like I sent here by my father. He uh... w-wanted me go get out more often and thought that maybe visiting the ball would help." He answers.
"I see." I nodded. "I guess that means I'll be seeing you there then."
"Well if your going to be there, I guess I won't be so bonely for the rest of the night." He chuckles.
"Cool!" I say. "I mean uh, that would make the ball less boring. You could hang out with my friend and I." I added.
"That would be nice. So, being a citizen of this here village, I hope ya don't mind me asking. But what is the ball like?" He questions.
"Well..."
We began to talk for a while after that, mostly about the upcoming Autumn Masquerade Ball. I explained to him a lot of things about the ball as he listened attentively, occasionally asking questions, or nodding his head. At one point we might have gotten out of topic...
"No way! I can totally out pun you!" I disagree.
"Are you kidding me? I'm the punniest monster out there!" Sans winks.
"Wanna start a war?!" I challenge.
"Bring it on little missy!" He accepts.
"How will we start it though?" I ask.
"What did the ocean say to the other ocean? Nothing, they just waved." He starts.
"Your such a beach." I wink.
"So did you sea what I did there?"
"I hope none of my anenemys hear this."
"I just whaled at that."
"Not to much pier pressure, right?"
"Nope, but I shore hope I win this war."
"Water you waiting for?"
"Your cruisin for a bruisin."
"Don't be shellfish. Give it all you've got!"
"That wasn't very punny."
I don't know how long this was going on, I just know that we kept going back and fort with puns, trying to outdo the other. I'm pretty sure that we would have gone on for much longer if...
"Yo Frisk? Where'd you run of too?!" I hear my monster friend's voice call out.
I look around the area and found him still near the market place, searching for me. I called him out while I waved one of my hands out, hoping he would notice me.
"Over here!" I called out.
"Who might that be?" Sans asks, looking over at MK.
"He's the really close friend of mine that I said." I answered.
Finally he notices me and runs over to me.
"There you are! Jeez where'd ya run off too? And..." He notices Sans. "Who's this?"
"Oh this is Sans. He's from a neighboring kingdom." I say.
"I came here to attend your Annual Autumn Masquerade Ball." Sans says.
"I see. Well you can call me MK. I also see that Frisk over here must have been making you feel welcomed." MK smiles, warmly.
"She sure has been." He smiles back. "She's been keeping me company. She's been great company actually."
"Sounds just like her. A giant sweetheart with a heart of gold, which are good traits considering she is the pri-"
I quickly cover MK's mouth as I nervously laugh.
"Heh, heh. Y-your to nice, you know?" I quickly shot him a glare as he nodded in realization.
"Well you have been great company. Thank you, m'lady." He bows his head.
"Not a problem at all." I smile, my face lightly blushing a hint of pink.
I see MK flash a small smirk as he nudges my shoulder. I took a deep breath, preventing my urge to step on his foot, instead giving him a 'shut up' look back.
"Oh wait! Before I get distracted!" MK turns to was me. "Someone is looking for you." He says, emphasizing the word 'someone'.
"Shoot! They found out already?!" I quickly stand up. "We have to go!" I exclaim.
"I know! That's why I've been looking for you!" MK exclaims back.
I turn to face Sans. "I'm very sorry to leave so suddenly, but I must go." I quickly bow down.
"Its fine, m'lady. This sounds important, so if I may suggest, you need to hurry." He says, smiling.
"I will. Farewell! I'll see you at the ball!" I grab MK by the tail and start to run. "C'mon MK! We have to hurry!"
"Hey wai- Frisk!" MK says.
"Take care m'lady!" I hear Sans shouts as I continued to drag MK away.
~~~Time Skip to the Night of the Ball :3~~~
"Ow!" I say as I felt an urge of pain while Mettaton was combing my hair.
"Oh darling I'm so sorry." Mettaton apologizes. "But you simply must take better care if your hair darling. Their full of tangles!"
Mettaton was combing my hair and making it look neat. Due to my hair being only shoulder length, he couldn't really style my hair, so he was just trying to make my hair look presentable. After he finished combing my hair, he began to curl the ends of my hair. He was getting me ready for the ball that will start in an hour or two. He picked out my clothes, my shoes, he even picked out the shampoos and conditioners I was suppose to use when I bathed.
"And done!" He takes a step back to admire his work. "No bad I must say."
(For the life of me I have no idea on how to describe her outfit. So here.)
(This is from an new AU I just found on tumblr called Applefell. The first 5 comics (I think? As this is posted) have been posted and its really interesting so far. I suggest you check it out :3)
I stood up and walked over to a full length mirror and looked at myself. Wow this dress is really frilly, but it was simple in its own way. I actually kinda like it. I smiled as I did a little twirl, letting the ends of my dress flow, a small smile on my face.
"What do you think boy?" I ask, facing the snow white dog that sat atop my bed.
He barked happily in response.
"Thank you Mettaton, its lovely." I smile at the robot.
"Think nothing of it! You look absolutely stunning in the dress." He complements.
"Thanks." I thank him.
"Now if you excuse me, your majesty. I must head over to your sister's room and force her dress on her." He sighs. "Again..."
He then exits the room. I turned around and looked at myself in the mirror again. I couldn't help but stare at my crown. I then made the decision to take my crown of and place in on top of my dresser. Beside it was my glittery red cat mask which I then put on, I am attending a masquerade ball after all. I just hope that none of the glitters fall to my eyes. Without my crown and the fact that I'm wearing a mask, I'm hoping that I'll be able to talk to people without them knowing that I'm the princess.
"Alright Snow, I have to go." I lightly kissed the little dogs forehead as he wags his tail. "Be good her, alright?"
I then exited my room and head over to the main ballroom.
·~·~·~·~·~
"Good evening ladies and gentleman!" Asgore loudly says as he stands atop his little balcony thing. (I have know idea what their called -_-) "I would like to thak you all for coming here tonight to..."
I quietly stood in the sidelines, between Chara and Asriel, trying not to be noticed by the crowed of people and monsters that listened attentively to my father's words. I scanned the crowed, trying to look for MK or that monster I met at the park, I couldn't find them both. I frowned. Aw don't tell me they didn't show up.
Chara and Asriel notices my expression and Chara nudges my shoulder.
"Looking for your monster friend?" She whispers, wearing her own green mask that was identical to mine to match her green and yellow dress that perfectly mirrored my own.
"Ya, but I don't see him." I sadly whisper back.
"Hey don't worry. I'm sure he'll show up." Asriel pats be back, wearing a black dog mask that matches his black tuxedo with a purple bow tie.
"Can you also help me find someone else too?" I requested them both. "Can you find this guy skeleton monster that isn't from the village?" I say, continuing to scan the crowd.
"Oh? You been keeping something from us, sis?" Chara smirks.
"E-excuse me?" I look at her weirdly.
"Who is this skeleton your talking about?" She asks.
"Oh. I meet him in the village yesterday-" I say.
"You mean when you escaped the castle and ran off to the village, even though mother and father told you not to." Asriel raises an eyebrow.
"Oh hush you!" I slightly pushed his cheek away. "Anyways. He's from a neighboring kingdom and visiting the kingdom to attend the Annual Autumn Masquerade Ball. I met him in the village park and kinda just welcomed him to the kingdom." I explain.
"Hmmm..." Chara comes close to me and looks as if she was scanning for something. "Do you like him?" She suddenly ask.
"What?!" I nearly shouted as I felt my face begun to flush a bright red.
"I said do yo-"
"I heard you the first time!" I cut her of. "But why? Why is that the first thing that pops into your head?!"
"Calm down Frisk. Chara's just messing with you." Asriel says, rubbing my back.
"Isn't it fun?" Chara playfully sicks her tongue out.
I softly growled. "Chara."
"... now let us enjoy the night!" Asgore announces, signaling for the party to begun.
The crowed cheered before they began to spread out a bit more and they all start to mingle with each other.
"Alright! Let the party commence!" Chara cheered.
"Now you three behave yourselves, alright my children?" Toriel says.
"We will mother!" We all say at the same time.
"Also Francesca. Make sure you come back up here by ten o'clock sharp to formally meet the visiting prince." Asgore tells me.
"I will father." I sighed in defeat.
"Now lets go!" Chara grabs our brother's hand (Paw? I still don't know) as she stands up. "Come on Asriel you lazy butt! Before all the chocolates gone!" She says before running of, pulling Asriel along with her.
I watched the fleeing duo as they run off to the buffet table to stuff their faces with chocolate, well mostly Chara at least. I smiled and giggled at their silly antics as I stood up at well, now I can properly look for them. I walked towards the spiral stairs that lead down towards the ballroom and the crowed of our many guests.
When I arrived to the bottom of the stairs I see so many people with such fancy outfits, all with so many unique masks. I walk through the crowed, smiling and greeting anyone who would say hi. It didn't seem like anyone noticed that it was me, what a relief. While I squeezed through the crowed of people and monsters, I did my best to look for my monster friend and Sans. Eventually I made it to the other end of the room, near the doors to exit the castle, and let out a huff.
"Where could they be?" I say to myself.
I then heard a sort of whooshing noise come from behind me. I was about to turn around to figure out what made that noise, when I suddenly felt from behind me, two arms wrap around my waist and bringing me close to someone, making me let out a small squeak.
"Looks like I found an adorable lost little kitten." I hear a familiar voice say. "Strange. I've always thought mice squeaked, not kittens."
I turned around and was meet with a grin which I've seen before. Sans looked down at me with a giant grin plastered across his face as his arms were wrapped around my waist. He wore a simple white polo shirt with a black necktie and a black jacket over it, black pants, black gloves, black dressed shoes, and a black cat mask. He removed his mask and revealing his face, confirming my suspicion.
(I really love this picture of Sans. He looks freaking awesome!!! I love the fact that he still has his jacket. Credits to the artist :3)
"J-jeez! Don't sn-sneak up on m-me like that!" I say, my face heating up. "Are trying to give me a heart attack?!"
"Of course not m'lady." He then smirks. "However if you do pass out, I'll be right here to give you CPR." He winks.
"W-w-w-what?!" I exclaim, my face practically burning up as I lightly push him away.
"Jumpy, how cute." He smiles.
"How d-did you even know it was me? I'm wearing a mask?" I asked.
"Its not hard to miss you." He shrugged. "How could anyone miss those beautiful hazel brown orbs of yours that sparkle with so much determination?"
He lightly brushes his boney fingers on my cheek and removing some strands of my hair out of the way. I take deep breaths as I tried to calm my beating heart and closed my eyes for a second. I was about to remove my mask when I stopped. I soon opened them as I grabbed his hand and began to drag him.
"Lets talk somewhere else. Its too crowded here." I say.
I dragged him towards the doors that lead out to the castle gardens, I'm sure that not many people will be there. I don't want to risk my identity being revealed. I took him outside, and as I expected, there actually wasn't anyone outside at all. I dragged him a safe distance away from the party before I stopped and let go of his hand. Finally I removed my mask and quickly ran my fingers through my chocolate brown hair, fixing it a little.
"So its good to see you, Sans." I smile. "You look good." I complement.
"Same to you m'lady." He smiles back.
"I know right? Isn't this dress lovely?" I did a quick spin to show off my dress. "A bit thick and frilly, but its simple and pretty."
"I think its the person wearing the dress that really brings it to life." He chuckles.
I sheepishly rubbed the back of my neck as I laughed nervously, smiling politely. "T-t-thanks."
"Anyways. Why did you bring me here?" Sans asks.
"Well... Its kinda crowded inside, and I'd rather stay out here I guess." I shrugged as we began to walk.
We then proceeded to talk just about random things as we walked under the light of the moon. The cold autumn night breeze blew, it was refreshing as I felt a sense of relief with the silence, the only sounds coming from the rustling of trees, the sound of crickets, the occasional hoot of an owl, and the sounds of Sans' and my own voice while we continued to chat. I enjoyed our conversation, even if what we were talking about made absolutely no sense and was just random, he's been fun to talk to.
Soon we made it to the garden's fountain and we both sat down by it's edge.
"This place is really beautiful." Sans says, looking around the area.
"Isn't it?" I look up at the stars as they twinkled, closing my eyes and really feeling the night air on my skin, smiling brightly. "Its my favorite place in the entire castle. Especially at night. The cool breeze topped off with the many different sounds of nature really make you feel relaxed. The way the night breeze just makes you feel tingles around your body, the calming noises of the rustling trees or the hoots of the owls just helps empty the mind and makes you think, the way the stars twinkle in the night sky and reflect of the water of the fountain and making it shine even more than it does, the-"
I stopped abruptly as I opened my eyes and turned to my side, finding Sans already staring at me, a smile on his face with his white pupils now formed into the shape of small hearts.
"Oh I'm s-sorry. I was probably rambling on wasn't I?" I say, rubbing my arm.
"Its fine, m'lady. I kinda thought it was adorable." He grins.
"A... a-adorable..?" I shuttered.
"Hmmm? Did I say something wrong?" He asks, concerned.
"What? No of course not!" I quickly say. "I... I guess I'm just not used to being called adorable. My sister usually gets annoyed whenever I start rambling."
"I see. Well you seem like you go here a lot. Do you come to the castle often?" He says.
"Oh I ummm..."
I need to think fast!
"I do! I'm close friends with the eldest princess of the royal family actually." I lie.
As much as I hate to lie, I still don't want him to know who I truly am. He and MK have been the only monsters who don't treat me like royalty. They treat me like any other normal person.
"Really?" He says. "If I may ask, what is she like?"
"Why?" I ask.
"N-no reason. Curiosity is all." He seemed to tense up a bit, but maybe that's just my imagination.
"Well..."
I need to think of something safe to say.
"She has a twin sister and younger brother for one thing." I start. "But I can't say much about the princess herself. We all have our own opinions on things, so my view on her maybe different from yours. So you may just have to meet her for yourself if you want to know what she's like."
Great save if I do say so myself.
"That's true." He says.
I sighed.
"Do you have anything else to talk about?" He asks.
I thought for a moment, until something popped up in my mind as I stared at the water that flowed from the fountain. I gazed up at Sans and smirked. While he gave me a confused, I couldn't help but give him a light shove, making him fall into the fountain's water. Once he sat up with a dumbfounded look on his face, his clothes now soaking wet, as he spit out some water while one of the fountain's lily pad was rested on his head. I burst into a fit of laughter, nearly falling on the ground.
"Y-you should s-s-see th-the l-look on your face!" I say in between my laughs.
But as I look back at him, I see Sans grin back while his left eye socket began to glow a faint cyan blue.
"Uh oh."
With that I took of running, before he could do anything. Lifting up the ends of my dress as I ran, I knew one place where I could lose him. The castle garden's hedge maze. It wasn't that far from the fountain.
Once I made it to the entrance, I didn't stop running. I memorized the place like the back of my hand, so getting lost for me seemed unlikely. Once I was sure that I was far enough. I stopped running and began to catch my breath. Soon enough I hear someone enter the maze, and I can already tell that they were lost. I peeked through a corner and saw Sans looking back and fourth between two pathways in front of him. I accidentally let out a small giggle.
"I heard that." Sans says as he turns around.
I hid back behind the hedge wall and ran in the other direction. I hear Sans teleport to the spot I was in, but I was already gone. This was going on for a while, Sans would run blindly around the maze trying to find me, while for fun, I would taunt him by quickly running in front of him and losing him in the maze or make noises to confuse or frustrate him. It was entertaining watching him run around trying to find me.
Finally I decided to end this wild goose chase. I was close behind him when I put back on my red cat mask. I held back my laughter as I silently snuck up behind him while he was too distracted trying to figure out where to go next. When I was finally right behind him, I ponced, tackling him to the ground.
"Looks like the predator has caught her prey." I smile triumphantly as I stared down at him.
My moment of triumph didn't last long. His left eye socket glows a cyan blue as I notice that blue glow start to wrap around my body. The next thing I knew, I felt a wave of nausea flow through my body as I felt myself being pinned to the ground as my cat mask fell off. When I recovered from the sudden nausea, I see Sans grinning down at me, his own cat mask on.
"That is until the predator becomes the prey." He grins.
"Th-th-that's no f-fair! I d-don't h-have magic like y-y-you!" I complain.
"Too bad, m'lady. But you should have stayed hidden. It was a nice try." He says.
I huffed, crossing my arms, while I tried to prevent myself from blushing.
"N-now d-d-do you mind g-getting of me, p-please?" I say, trying to get up.
"Only because I'm so forgiving. I'll let what you did slide this time." He flashes a playful wink before getting up.
Once he was up, I sat up and stretched my arms. I then looked up at him and extended my arms out towards him, gesturing for him to help me stand back up.
"Seriously?" He chuckles.
"What? You made me lye down and now I feel lazy." I groaned, waving my arms up and down.
(That up there, story of my life. Once you make me lye down, I refuse to get up X3 I'm sure we can all relate to that. Unless your some sort of magical person that is immune to the laziness O-o)
He rolled his eye sockets as he grabbed both of my hands and pulled me up. His grip on my hands were hard as he pulled me up, my feet becoming unsteady as I was hoisted up, making me fall into a pair of strong arms that held me in place and helped me regain my balance. My head was rested on a his chest as I looked up at him to see his grinning face.
(Oh my god. This is to clique even for me. Oh sweet Jesus Christ :/)
"Ummm... t-t-thank y-you." I managed to get out. "You m-m-may let go of me n-now."
"You stutter a lot, how charming." He teased. pinching my check, but still held me close.
"I d-d-do n-not!" I disagree, but mentally face palmed as I realized that I practically just proved the point. Smooth.
"Also defensive, precious." He snickers as he then pats my head.
"Just let g-go of me will y-y-ya?" I send deadly glares towards him.
"Nah." He say, hugging me closer to him. "I like where we are right now. Its very comfortable."
As he rests his head atop mine, I felt that wave of nausea surround me again as I soon found ourselves sitting again on the edge of the fountain. I placed a hand on my forehead while I used my other hand to cover my mouth as I felt my stomach churn.
"P-please..." I felt the horrible sensation of bubbles bubbling in my stomach. "... warn me n-next time you d-do that. I am no fit to do that so many times in one night..."
"Heh. My apologizes, m'lady." He chuckles, patting my head once again. "Your really tiny, the perfect size for me to embrace you."
"Oh great, again with my tiny height." I sighed.
"There's nothing wrong with being short. I find it quite appealing." He says.
"I... ummm... th-thanks."
I didn't know what else to say honestly. He's been so well-mannered and such a gentle man, or just overall a nice guy to me since we met. Man if only I didn't have to marry royalty, he would have been a nice guy to be wi-
My eyes widened as I realized what I was thinking.
Have I gone mad?! I just met this guy yesterday! Maybe Mettaton was right about staying up late and it making your head all loopy. I lightly shook my head, but hit my head on something, snapping me out of my thoughts. I remembered I was still in Sans arms.
I could feel my hands start to sweat a bit. Why am I feeling so nervous all of a sudden?
"What's that over there?" He asks, gesturing his head towards something from a distance.
I followed his gaze and saw him gazing over at something under a big tree.
"Oh its Asriel's guitar." I say. "He probably left it there again by accident. Uh, Prince Asriel I mean."
"Would he mind if I borrow it for a second?"
I thought for a moment. "Well as long as you don't break it or anything, I'm sure it wouldn't hurt."
He smiled lightly. "I guess you better hold on to your dinner for a bit."
I didn't have time to ask what he meant. Then that terrible sense of dizziness hit me again before we appeared under the tree.
"The tree w-was... a f-few feet away..." I felt my head go a little light headed. "W-we c-could have just w-w-w-walked..."
Being very light headed, I didn't even realize we were standing up. Well at least Sans was standing. I was to light headed to care for the fact that I was being carried by him, trying to keep my dinner down in my stomach. He gently places me down on the soft green grass as I leaned my back against the tree and recovering from the sick feeling of my stomach. Sans sat beside me as he picked up the guitar and began to tune it.
"What song are you gonna play?" I asked curiously.
"Just wait and see." He simply responds.
After he was done tuning the guitar, he positioned himself while his boney fingers strummed the strings of the guitar.
(Here comes the song again X3)
'Wise men say'
'Only fools rush in'
He began to sing, his hands carefully strumming the guitar. It was the same song I had heard him sing when I first saw him in the village park.
'But I can't help falling in love with you'
He looked down at me with a warm smile. I felt my back shiver.
'Shall I stay?
'Would it be a sin?'
The melody of the guitar was beautiful as each string being plucked.
'If I can't help falling in love with you?'
In that instant as he continued to sing to me, I felt something weird inside of me. A connection, a spark, a click if you may.
'Like a river flows'
'Surely to the sea'
'Darling, so it goes'
'Some things are meant to be'
Have I fallen for this mysterious skeleton?
'Take my hand,'
'Take my whole life, too'
He sang with so much emotion and passion.
'For I can't help falling in love with you'
I couldn't have. If so, this isn't good if my parents found out about it, especially since I was suppose to marry a prince or some form of royalty.
'Like a river flows'
Father would murder me and Sans on the spot while my mother would freak out and may have a heart attack.
'Surely to the sea'
They wouldn't allow it.
'Darling, so it goes'
They would prevent this from happening.
'Some things are meant to be'
They would tell me it was wrong... and yet it felt so right.
'Take my hand,'
His left eye glowed a faint cyan blue, levitating the guitar away, yet the strings still continued to play. He then took my hands in his.
'Take my whole life, too'
His white and blue eye sockets stared directly into my hazel brown ones and closed them.
'For I can't help falling in love with you'
He pressed his forehead against mine.
'For I can't help falling in love with you'
Pretty soon the strumming had stopped as he opened his eye sockets to look at me. I smiled lightly back at him.
"You couldn't have picked an even more cheesier and clique song to play." Beam as I said those words.
"Doesn't matter. I know you enjoyed it." He grinned back.
"Would you think that it would be a crazy idea to fall in love with someone you practically just met?" I questioned, closing my eye.
"Normally I would have thought that that was a unrealistic thought. But after meeting you m'lady, I would just be calling myself a hypocrite." He responds.
"But... would you mind if we got to know each other a little better?" I asked, opening my eyes.
"Of course, m'lady." He smiles. "I understand. I wouldn't want to rush ya into doing anything you weren't comfortable doing. That would be wrong of me to do. So if you would like to take some time to get to know each other, I'll respect that."
"Thank you. Finally someone who understands!" I smiled brightly as I hugged him tightly.
I wanted to kiss him right there because of how understanding he was being.
"Huh? What do you mean?" He asks.
"Oh. Ummm, I-"
Suddenly I heard the sound of the clock bell strike another hour. I could see the time from my peripheral vision, making my eyes widen.
Ten o'clock.
"I have to go!" We bot said at the same time.
We stared at each other for a moment.
"Where are you going?" We said simultaneously at the same time again.
"I need to see the king and queen!" We stood up together.
"You too?!" Okay this seriously needs to stop.
"Why do you have to go?" Sans asks.
"We don't have time to ask each other questions!" I grabbed his hand. "Just use your teleportation magic thingie and teleport us to the throne room! It'll be faster that way."
"But I don't und-"
"We don't have time! He doesn't deal kindly to people who are late! So unless you want to keep your head attached to your body, lets go!" I demanded.
He didn't bother to ask questions at this point. I braced myself for the upcoming nausea as I can already feel the magic slowly wrap around us while Sans gripped onto my hand tightly. When the blue magic finished wrapping around the both of us, I soon found ourselves in the throne room.
We stood near the end of the room near the door while two guards stood guard as I can see mother and father sitting on their respective throne chairs and Chara and Asriel's remained empty, probably still at the party.
"Ah, there you are my child." Toriel smiles warmly. "We were beginning to think you wouldn't want to see the neighboring prince."
"Heh, heh. G-greetings mother, f-f-father." I laugh nervously, rubbing the back of my neck.
"Mother?! Father?!" Sans turns to face me, clearly shocked.
"And you mush be Prince Sans the Skeleton. Am I correct?" Asgore says, facing Sans.
"That is correct, your majesty." He replies, bowing respectively.
Now it was my turn to be speechless. "Prince?!"
"Welcome to the kingdom. My daughter, why didn't you tell us you were already acquainted with Prince Sans?" Asgore looks at me curiously.
"Your a prince?!" I ignored my father as I turned to look at Sans.
"I could say the same to you about being a princess!" He retorts. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"Should we be here for this, dear..?" I hear Toriel whisper to Asgore.
"I don't think so. Maybe we should leave for a bit..." He responds before they walked away and into the next room.
Silence filled the room as a thick layer of tension begin to arise.
"Why didn't you tell me?" He asks, a little more kindly.
"I... I just..." I sighed in defeat. "When I met you at the village in my disguise, I knew you weren't from the village. Like said, I knew almost everyone be face." I began. "I took the opportunity to meet you as a regular person. I hated it when people treated me like a princess, like I was better than everyone, but I wasn't. I wanted to be treated like a normal person, and I thought you would be the one that would finally treat like any other person. You know, a clean slate, a fresh start." I let my gaze fall to the floor. "I'm sorry..."
It was silence for a while. Then I heard his footsteps come towards me until I felt him place a hand on my cheek and him making me look up at him, a small smile on his face.
"Now its my turn to say something." He said. "I came here to this kingdom because my father was tired of me being such a lazy monster and wanted me to find someone." He began. "I was never interested in those kinds of things, but I didn't have any other choice. My dad suggested I to head to the nearest kingdom, which was your kingdom, especially since he heard you were hosting a ball and told me to meet the eldest daughter of the king and queen. I came here expecting to meet some sort of prissy princess, instead my bones were rattled while I was playing my ukulele in the park by a beautiful stranger that snuck up from behind me."
I let out a soft giggle.
"Maybe its just the fact that I didn't get to meet a lot of people personally, but you seemed different." He continued. "You seemed so eager and upbeat to be talking to a total stranger. You intrigued me. Then again, you were the only girl that's ever caught my attention."
"Talk about high standards. Shesh." I held back a smile.
"Hush you. Let me finish." He held back his own grin as he places a finger to my lips while I let my smile show.
"I guess i'm just grateful you decided to talk to me." He grins. "Imagine meeting me here right now on the spot for the first time?"
"I probably wouldn't have been so open to meet you." I thought aloud.
"Mhmm." He nodded his head.
"But your different from those other princes!" I nearly shouted. "They were so annoying! Only wanting to marry me for my crown and fortune. What jerks." I huffed. "You actually wanted to talk to me, to get to know me, and that really helped me open up to you. I really appreciate that."
"Fate really has a weird way of making people meet, huh?" He chuckles.
"It sure does." I say, hugging him as he accepted the hug with open arms.
"I take it that that hug is a good sign?"
We both turned our heads to find Asgore and Toriel standing by the door of the I'm they had entered, me still in Sans' arms.
"W-w-w-w-were y-y-you two there th-there the whole t-time..?" I stuttered badly as I felt my face heat up in embarrassment.
"We apologize my child. However, we let our curiosity get the better of us." Toriel smiles, apologetically.
"Does this mean you finally found someone your at least interested in?" Asgore looks at the both of us, hopefully.
"Mhmm." I nodded my head in agreement, resting my head on his chest with a shy smile.
"As much as I would love to marry your daughter right here on the spot, she requests that we give it some to get to know each other, if you don't mind your majesty?" He requests.
"As long as we know that you'll take care of our daughter, then that's fine with us dear." Toriel smiles.
I looked up at him. "Thank you." I quietly whispered.
"Not a problem, m'lady." He winks.
"Now how about we celebrate the rulers to be by actually attending the party?" Asgore smiles, relived that I actually found someone.
He heads towards the ballroom, Toriel following right beside him.
"What do ya say, my queen to be?" Sans looks at me, offering an arm.
I smiled in delight as I have him a quick peck on his cheekbone, completely stunning him. I giggled, amused by his reaction, and linked our arms.
"Sounds delightful my king." I reply as I began to drag us towards the party.
