Chapter 2

"Three months. Three months worth of time in order to improve."

As she was standing alone in the outskirts of Tokyo, one young woman was seen surrounded by various curses and other supernatural beings. This woman was the daughter of Viktor von Degurechaff. The strongest mage of the current generation of the Demon Hunter Organization.

[Olivia von Degurechaff]

"The strongest mage of the current generation. A genius amongst mages...........what a load of crap."

As Olivia said this, she flicked her wrist as a small pendant could be seen hanging from it. Suddenly she began to pour a large amount of mana into the object as all the cursed spirits and ghouls around her began to step back a little. This wasn't like the time when she merely crafted a bow out of mana. This was far different, she was using her own personal Holy Sacrament that she received during her time in her homeland back in Germany.

"Before and during that trial, all I did was complain while he and Megumi fought for my branch. My junior even endured something horrible on Jinoshima. It's time to pull my own weight."

Suddenly a bright light erupted from Olivia as nearly half of the ghouls and curses around her were vaporized by the mere release of her Holy Sacrament. When the light dimmed down, it was now visible. In Olivia's right hand was a light-colored bow. It is roughly as tall as she is and has semi-straight arms tapering off into points, with the handle being significantly less thick than the rest of the bow. This bow was half of her Holy Sacrament, the name of this bow was.....

[Heilig Bogen]

"I don't need the second half of my holy sacrament for all of them. However, if I keep holding back like i've been doing, i'll end up as dead weight. Just like Megumi and Shiki, i'll pull my weight and fight properly as their senior!"

As Olivia said this, she jumped high into the air through using her own mana to boost the physical strength of her legs. As soon as she was high enough into the air, she pulled back the string of her bow with her left hand as she looked at all of the monsters on the ground.

"Be swallowed within the light. Licht Regen!"

In just a matter of seconds, Olivia unleashed a volley of arrows constructed from the mana she gathered from both her surroundings and herself. The monsters that were surrounding her were now merely targets as all of them were struck by her arrows as their bodies evaporated upon contact with the attack. The moment Olivia landed on the ground, she began to dust herself off as her bow was now vanishing as the mana used to construct it was pouring back into her as she looked at the pendant in her hand now.

"Once Koritsu Shiki's strong enough, you are to help him reach the Regalia state with Asuramaru."

"Regalia. The phenomenon when the wielder of a Holy Sacrament or certain cursed objects become one and are able to fully utilize the weapon's capabilities. Koritsu-kun's strong enough with just his Mystic Eyes of Death Perception and Asuramaru's base abilities alone. But if he can use Regalia along with it, he could quite easily surpass some high ranking members even amongst the four major families."

While she thought this, Olivia already knew what Shiki needed to work on first. As of now, most people would fear Asuramaru and his Mystic Eyes more than the boy himself. Foundation; what Shiki needed to work on more than anything was his foundation. His physical capabilities were second only to Toji, but his swordsmanship could use some work. Not only that, there was also his incredible amount of bloodlust he needed to get a handle on as well.

"He can do it. He's the same brat who helped save my branch while I was still too immature and acted on emotions too much. Instead of worrying about him, I need to worry about myself and get my act together. Megumi, Shiki, this time i'll fight along side you both like a proper senior should!"

~Meanwhile~
Heavy sighs could be heard escaping Hayasaka Megumi's lips as she looked at the person in front of her. As Ochita merely dusted off his shoulder, Megumi was seen covered in bruises as the electricity around her began the simmer down. Seeing this, Ochita merely looked at her as they were both on the church's training grounds.

"Megumi-kun, do you know why you have trouble landing a proper attack on me?"

"Because of the gap in experience and ability between us. Along with that curse of yours."

"There are many answers and what you said was correct, but it is actually more simple than you think."

As he said this, Ochita lifts up his left arm as he pulled back his sleeve. When he did, Megumi realized he had a cut on his arm as blood was escaping from it. Her eyes glowed red upon seeing it as she was unaware she was licking her lips.

"The reason you couldn't attack properly was because I took advantage of your vampiric urges. Simply the smell of blood is enough to overstimulate your senses and cause you to make unnecessary actions. That's why, I decided on the best course of your training. I brought an old friend of mine to come help you. Both in regards to how to utilize magic as well as to reign in your instincts."

As Ochita said this, Megumi was suddenly feeling a strong presence entering the area. Truth be told, this presence was incredibly intimidating. The moment the person responsible for this walked into the area, Megumi saw short, messy white hair accompanied with green eyes. The man wore a black yukata with white lily flowers on the sode. He also wore a red haori on his shoulders that had the same flower pattern on it.

"Megumi-kun, this man is Koritsu Ayumu. He is Shiki's father. While considered an anomaly in the Nanaya clan, he is a mage that even Olivia wouldn't want to clash with."

"I see, it's nice to me-"

Just as Megumi said this, she noticed how the trees behind her were suddenly sliced in half and reduced to mere splinters seconds afterwards. A cold sweat fell down from her face the moment she realized this. Just as her gaze shifted back to Ayumu, she narrowly avoided a punch to the gut as a strong gust of wind escaped from his fist and destroyed the area in front of him.

"Treat this as if it was a real battlefield. I'll do my part and help you hone your magic to the point your control is comparable to mine. However, we're working on your mentality and your ability to adapt to any situation. One small mistake in this line of work could mean death. Not just for you either."

As she heard Ayumu say this, Megumi could feel it. The sheer intensity of this man's mana contradicted the calm expression on his face. Not only that, it felt as if she could feel nothing but animosity from this man. She could tell that one mistake against this man could cost her a limb when thinking positively.

"Okay. Please guide me, Koritsu-sensei!"

~????~
"Nanaya Takamura, after dad told me about the truth behind the Nanaya clan's demise, he told me about this man. Apparently, grandpa here is the same as me. He too lacked any mana or cursed energy."

The sound of swords clashing echoed throughout the abandoned estate as Shiki and Takamura were clashing. While Takamura was effortlessly parrying each strike, Shiki was breathing heavily as his body was covered in slash marks.

"Not only that, I also learned three facts about my grandfather, aside from our familial relation. The first, he is often mumbling, which makes communication between us extremely difficult."

As Shiki was trying his best to land at least one attack on the old man, he noticed something during his onslaught of attacks. Takamura hasn't moved from his spot even once. During that split second of realization, Shiki grunts in pain as Takamura slammed the sheath of his own blade into Shiki's gut. This resulted in the boy being sent flying towards a nearby wall.

"The second thing I learned is that he's starting to go blind. Despite that, he's still able to fight as if his sight wasn't deteriorating to begin with. Not only that, his swordsmanship vastly surpasses mine and Toji's by a drastic amount. He sheathes and unsheathes his blade so fast, I can only pick up on the action for a split second before he attacks me."

Just as Shiki lifts his head, he suddenly rolled along the wall in order to avoid being impaled by Takamura's katana. The moment he noticed his blade didn't reach his target, Takamura swiftly removed his weapon out of the wall as he dashed towards Shiki and slammed down his weapon. Even though Shiki managed to stop the attack with his own katana, the ground beneath him broke apart from the impact alone.

"And the third thing I realized is that unlike me.....he has no qualms taking a human's life, even if it was family. The bloodlust that this man possessed was far greater than mine. But I need to survive this..... especially after everything I learned from dad. Until that day comes....."

"Until I kill Shiranui Ouma, I can't die yet!"
