The Unknown
After escaping the boy and a member of the Holy Church, the beast flew out of the city as it had one destination. Soon it began to dive down from the sky as it crash landed onto the ground. When the beast looked upwards, he saw that he was now at the Jogi Nyorai Saihoji Temple. Just as he landed, he heard someone calling out to him.
"Heh, that's interesting. You're covered in less blood than normal. Did your human mind finally reign in control? Or was the savage beast interrupted during his meal, Merkava."
Merkava turned his head towards the direction he heard this condescending voice. Soon his eyes fell upon a relatively tall young man with a fit build. He has sharp brown eyes and dyed blonde hair accented with his black roots. He has three piercings in his left ear, one in his ear lobe, and two more toward the top. He sports a white long-sleeved shirt that buttons at the collar underneath his dark blue kimono. He completes his outfit with light-colored hakama bottoms and sandals.
"I refuse to entertain the thoughts of someone who was part of our enemies army, Naoya Zenin."
"Get real, I made it clear that I came here of my own free will. Besides, once I become the head of my clan, we won't have to worry about the Demon Hunter Organization. Especially since the majority of the other clans in the organization lack a head to their respective families. Not to mention the fact the Nanaya family got wiped out."
As Naoya said this, both himself and Merkava walked inside of the temple. As they did, they were only met with an eerie silence. Soon they were walking up the stairs of the temple. While this happened, Naoya had an arrogant smirk plastered upon his face as he spoke to Merkava.
"You're a strange monster. Normally when an animal such as a lion devours a human, they only devour the flesh and bone. Yet you, not only do you consume flesh, but you also devour their souls and aquire their mana in the process. Mana which is then stored in those weird markings on your body, the Curse Commandment I believe it's called. The lower you are on mana, the hungrier you get. The hungrier you get, the more souls and mana you devour. Though I must ask....how does it feel? Knowing that you remember every single face you devoured."
"........"
"A shame you lack eyelids, then you could at least spare yourself the sight of all those people you devoured. Though this is your own fault for seeking a power you were never meant to handle. Remember your task, monster."
After climbing up the stairs, Naoya and Merkava made it the the very top of the Jogi Temple. Waiting for them was a small fox that was pitch black and was formed from the shadows. Soon the markings on Merkava's body began to glow as the mana withing them were slowly being removed from his body. As this happened, the fox opened its mouth as it was now eating the mana that Merkava collected. The moment it was done eating the mana, several chains emerged from the shadows as they restrained Merkava's body. Seeing this, Naoya began to leave the temple.
"Looks like the master was satisfied with the meal for now. Though it's not enough mana to wake him up just yet. It's a good thing he can restrain you and drag you in the shadows as well. The last thing we want while we starve you again is for you to try and devour us. Shame the others weren't here as well, but things happen. Though, I better start doing my own job. Time to see if I can find this S-Rank Cursed Treasure."

"What.... happened?"
That was the first question that escaped from Shiki's lips after he slowly opened his eyes. Soon he was slowly starting to remember what happened to him. He was at the park after buying stuff for dinner when he decided to take a shortcut home. After that, he saw that giant monster and he tried to attack it.
"Wait, why the hell did I try to attack that thing?!"
"That's something I would like to know as well, Koritsu Shiki."
As Shiki turned his head, he saw the owner of the feminine voice he heard. In all honesty, he found the person that he was speaking to very pretty. When his green eyes met with the girl's blue eyes, he heard the sound of static entering his ears again. Before he knew it, he tried to reach for his switchblade only for the girl to show it in her hand along with his student ID. Not only that, he saw that he was tied up to a chair with some rope as his arms and legs were restrained as well.
"Well, that explains how you know my name. So what about yo-"
"I will be asking the questions here. However, communicating with me might prove slightly challenging if I don't explain a few things. First off, i'm Hayasaka Megumi. Now tell me, why were you at the park and about to fight a demon?"
"I was at the park because it was the shortest route home. And what do you mean by a demon?! Those things don't actually exist, right?! Plus I don't know why I tried to fight it!!! My body just reacted to it. Kind like now. Even now, even though you clearly look human .......my body is screaming at me to take you out. Just like it did with that demon you mentioned, only this time I seem to have some control over myself. What the hell is going on? WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME?!"
"His body reacted this way when encountering something non-human? His instincts must have sensed a part of me that wasn't human due to my ancestors drinking the blood of a Raiju and one of them being forced to carry the baby of HIM. Since I haven't given into any impulses from the non-human side of myself, is he not reacting as strongly? Just what is up with this kid."
Just as Megumi was about to speak again, she heard the sound of her phone ringing. The moment she answered her phone, she seemed more tense as it was her superior who called her. Once she told them of the situation, she stood close to Shiki as she put the phone to his left ear.
"My superior wishes to speak with you."
"O-ok. Hello?"
"Under normal circumstances, when a citizen has witnessed the supernatural side of the world, the first thing people on our side would do is exterminate them so word of the supernatural world doesn't spread like wildfire. The fact you're still alive is only because of Megumi there being merciful."
The voice was stern and cold. Shiki could tell just from the man's tone that he was completely serious. As Shiki looked at Megumi, he simply saw the girl nodding her head towards him. Before Shiki could say anything, he heard Megumi's higher up speak once more.
"Even if you just so happened to go there because it was a short route, most people would turn the other way and act like they didn't see anything the moment they saw corpses, especially if they saw the creature responsible. Yet you, even before the corpses were in your view, you felt drawn to that spot. Not only that, you even tried to engage that thing in a fight. And if that wasn't enough, you somehow made yourself appear as a danger to it which caused it to feel the need to retreat even before Megumi showed up. Koritsu Shiki, you're one dangerous monster. However, even a monster like you can be used effectively."
"What do you mean?"
"You have two options. You could either die right now or...you could serve as the dog for the Holy Church until our mission is complete. That mission currently is to find the Seven S-(Special) Ranked Cursed Treasures and to kill any supernatural threats in our jurisdiction. So then, die like a dog or live like one. No matter which you choose, you're not gonna leave the same person as you are now."
The man made his intention well known. He wanted to use Shiki for his own personal goal. If Shiki disagrees, he'll be killed on the spot. If he does agree, then he'll have to go through the same experience that he had at the park. Just as Shiki opened his mouth, he heard the man speak.
"You have two days to think before giving me an answer. Megumi will escort you to your home tonight just in case that monster might still be after you and can act as your guard. I'll be awaiting your answer, Koritsu Shiki."
Soon the superior hung up the phone. The moment this happened, Megumi let a sigh escape from her lips as she started to untie Shiki. As she did this, a small smile was seen forming upon her face.
"Thank goodness that's over. Sorry about that, Koritsu-kun. It wasn't personal, but I do have a job that I have to take seriously. But since he gave you a chance to think about an offer to join us, I can relax a little bit. Oh, here's your knife and student ID back."
"I can understand the Student ID, but why give me back the knife?"
"I'm a trained Executioner of the Holy Church. I literally could kill you in several different ways before you can even reach me with that knife. Anyways, my final task for today is to escort you home. So I'll have you lead the way, but here's some advice. If you do end up joining us, make sure you're 100% doing this of your own will. I know it seems like an ultimatum at first, but sometimes death is a lot more merciful than what this job has in store. Just......think hard about this, okay?"
After seeing the girl smile and give him a small wink, Shiki felt his face getting slightly red. As he shook his head, he merely followed the girl out of the hotel she was staying in. While this was happening, he began to think to himself.
"Just what in the hell have I gotten myself into?"
~Meanwhile~
The light of the full moon shined brightly in the night sky. Underneath that light was a simple church on a hill. Two men were seen inside the church as one of them just got off his phone. He was a young and well-built man of average height. He had shoulder-length, wavy, brown hair and gray eyes as he was seen wearing a cassock and a cross around his neck.
"It's not like you to give someone time to think. Has the Holy Church gotten soft, Ochita Eiyu?"
"Hardly, I simply found something the church could utilize to help make achieving its goal of peace in this city more obtainable. Though, ashamed as I am to admit it, learning that it was your own son that got involved may have swayed my decision on executing him right on the spot. You should count your blessings that it was my faction that was in charge, Koritsu Ayumu."
Koritsu Ayumu. A man standing at about 190 cm that had short, messy white hair and green eyes. He wore a black yukata with white lily patterns on the sode (the loose arm part of yukata) and white obi that ties the yukata around his waist. He also wore a red haori over his shoulders with the same lily patterns on the back as he had on a pair of geta. The moment he turned to look at Ochita, the church affiliate saw a scar on the left side of the man's face as if he was cut there.
"I still can't believe Shiki somehow got involved in our world again. However, he just might be the push you bastards at the church need."
"What makes you say tha-"
"Have you ever been able to see death?"
"What are you on about?"
"Some years ago, the Koritsu clan almost suffered the same fate as the main family, the Nanaya Clan. By the time I got back almost all of my fellow clansmen were dead. My wife was dead upon the ground as my son was close to joining her. Though with the last of her strength, my wife sustained him with her own life force after he was basically killed. Ever since that incident, he told me these strange lines were in his sight. His green eyes that he inherited from me were then a light blue hue. One time he told me he touched the lines on his old bed. When I looked to check out what he meant, all I saw was a bed split in half."
Ochita's eyes widen in shock when he heard the situation from Ayumu. Ochita heard rumors of eyes like these. It was so rare that it was thought to believe only two people in the entire world had eyes like those. If what Ayumu said was true, then his son might have them as well. The Mystic Eyes of Death Perception. With that combined with his lineage, the church's new "dog" just might become an unstoppable monster with enough experience.
"By the way, I have something I want you to give to Shiki if he accepts your deal and you gave him the proper amount of experience in battle. The main family tried to keep this all to themselves when they kicked me out alongside my wife and child, so I thought I'd pay those bastards back by taking a little something from them."
As Ayumu reached into the left sleeve of his yukata, he took out a dagger with a jutte-like shaped blade. It has a "q" shaped circular hand guard that points out on the side of the longer blade. Additionally, the weapon has a black handle with a circular link at the end that allows it to be connected to metal chains. The moment Ochita saw what the weapon was, he couldn't hide his shock.
"This is-"
"That's right. One of the Seven S-Ranked Cursed Treasures, the Inverted Spear of Heaven."
~Location: Unknown~
"Since Master is a vampire, I guess he was bound to have a few people he turned into nothing but walking corpses. But to think he would lend them to me so easily and that he had them stored inside of the shadows. He really is a monster."
As Naoya talking to himself, he looked to see the number of people his master drained of blood and turned into his familiars. Soon a smile formed upon Naoya's face as he was about to go retrieve one of the Seven Special-Ranked Cursed Treasures.
"The churches dogs along with the guy Merkava has grown interest in are in Miyagi. While I head to Tokyo to retrieve the damn treasure, i'll use these damn monsters as a distraction while I move about. Now then, it's time for the hunt to begin."
