SANGINI – A NEW BEGINNING! CHAPTER 81

Recap – Dada Dadi in Delhi

Ragini held the back of her head and moaned in pain. Sanskaar shifted her hair and saw two pair of legs coming towards them. He sighed and made Ragini sit on the ground.

Sanskaar ( irritated ) : not again.....
Dada and Dadi too came out hearing the chaos. Dadi immediately ran towards Ragini and caressed her hair.

Dada : what happened? Who are these two?
Dada pointed at two young boys standing bending their head with bat in their hand. Sanskaar picked up the leather ball and twisted their ears.

Sanskaar : you guys will never behave right? Earlier you broke the window and today Ginu’s head.

( what you guys thought haan?? Tell meeee )

Boy 1 : sorry bhaiya.. sorry didi...
Ragini : it’s okay.. let them go Sansku...

Dadi ( her inner Marwaran woke up seeing her laado in pain ) : arre aise kaise? Sanskaar call their parents... is this the way to play? What if something serious happened to my Laado?
Boy 2: sorry aunty... it happened by mistake.. don’t call our parents...

( delhi ke ladke itne shareef? Naah 🤪🤪)

Sanskaar : Harshit, how many times we have told you not to play with the leather ball here?? Earlier also because of you people Mrs. Gandhi got hurt...

Dada : kaise bache hain yahan ke?
Ragini : let it go na... i’m fine..

Boy 1 : Ragini didi is right as always... Sanskaar bhaiya now give us our ball so that we can go and play... our match is stuck...
Dadi : hey mara khatushyam ji.. Laado, yahan ke bache toh zubaan bhi ladate hain.. batameez...
Lakshay ( boy 1 ) : look aunty.. we are asking with so much respect... don’t insult us...
Harshit : Sanskaar bhaiya give us the ball otherwise you know na... mahabharat shuru ho jaegi...
Dadi snatches the ball from Sanskaar’s hand. All looks on.
Dadi : you wont get the ball.. first call your parents....
Harshit and Lakshya look at each other, smirks and nods.
Lakshay : you want to meet out parents?
Dadi nods.
Lakshay : see there they are.... on the terrace....
He points out at the terrace of the next house. Dadi turns to look and so does everyone else. Lakshay signs Harshit who runs, rolls Dadi, takes the ball from her hand and they both run out laughing.

Sanskaar holds Dadi, preventing her from falling. Dada and Dadi are too shocked to even react. Ragini sighs.

Ragini : that’s why i was saying just return the ball. These kids are little devils.

Dada : haye... literelly they are devils.... Laado are you okay?

She nods. Sanskaar makes Dadi sit beside Ragini and goes in to get water for them. Dadi was sweating. Till now only her mother in law and her neighbour, Dida had got the nerves to screw with her mind but now, these two little kids made a fool out of her. Never in her wildest dream she would have thought that something like this would happen to her.

Sanskaar : welcome to Delhi, Dadi Ma.....

He says giving her the glass of water.

Ragini : Sansku... this is such a cute picture....

She exclaimed looking at their engagement photographs. Oldies have brought it with them. While some were in hard copy, rest were in the pendrive. Sanskaar too looked at the picture, where he was holding Addy in his arms with Ragini beside them, like a cute happy family. ...

Sanskaar : very cute, Ginu... but this one is my favourite... .

Ragini ( excited ) : which one.. show me...

Sanskaar : naah... first i’ll get it framed and then you can see....

Ragini : common Sanskuuuuu...... ( puppy eyes ) I’m your Ginu na... common show me na....

Sanskaar nods his head negatively. Ragini twists her lips. She continues looking at the other pictures. Sanskaar smiles looking at her and pecks her cheek when the oldies weren’t paying attention to them. Her eyes and mouth were wide open, in shock.

Dadi : what happened Laado? Is your head still paining?
Sanskaar : haan Ginu, what happened? .

Ragini glares at him and then looks at the oldies.
Dada : Laado, why are your cheeks red? Do you have temperature?
Sanskaar : haw... temperature??

He hurriedly touches her forehead and cheeks with back of his palm and loudly sighs.

Sanskaar : uff thank God Ginu you are fine.. Dada ji, she’s fine...

Dada : then why is she red? Laado what happened beta?

Ragini : nothing Dadi ma... i think a big mosquito is flying in here... he must have bit me...

Dada : what?/ mosquitoes? Sanskaar, you should have pest control beta...

Ragini chuckles at this.

Ragini : yes Sansku, YOU SHOULD HAVE PEST CONTROL.... there are so many germs in this empty brain of yours....

Trio chuckle leaving snaksaar glaring at Ragini. She smirks and raises her eye brows twice. He helplessly sees his plan getting back fired.

Sanskaar ( whispers ) : i’ll see you later, Raat ho jane do zara....

Ragini : o really? Let me make preparations for that as well...

Ragini : Dadi Ma...

Dadi : haan laado...

Ragini : you haven’t brought our engagement video?

Dadi : beta, there was some issue so they said we’ll get it by tomorrow ..

Ragini : okay Dadi ma. And also, as the guest room is not cleaned so we’ll do one thing... you and I’ll sleep upstairs in Sanksu’s room and he’ll sleep with Dada ji in my room.... Dada ji can’t climb stairs na....

Sanskaar narrows his brows and looks at her astonished while she gives him a little smirk.

Ragini ( innocently blushing ) : abb i can’t stay with Sansku in one room na, before our marriage....

Dada Dadi feels proud of their grand daughter, she hasn’t forgotten her “Sanskaar” till now. Dadi takes her balaein. Sanskaar closes his eyes, frustrated and gives a forced fake smile.

Sanskaar : of course... kahin aisa na ho na ki main shadi se pehle tumhare sath ek kamre mein rahu aur mujhe pehle hi pata lag jaye ki tum kitne kharrate marti ho aur laatein bhi.... fir toh mujhe shadi se mana karna padega na ....
( of course... what if i share room with you before marriage and knew about your snores and how you hit with your legs... then i’ll have to cancel the marriage know... )

This time he chuckles and she glares at him. Dada Dadi were confused whether he was being sarcastic or telling the truth.

Ragini : Sansku ke bache.. i’ll not leave you. What do you mean i snore haan?? Dadi you tell have i ever snored in my sleep?

Dadi : beta... earlier you used to.. i don’t know about now...

She looks on sheepishly while Sanskaar burst out laughing. Dada too smiles while Ragini pouts.
Ragini : no one loves me... huh..

Trio : aee!!!! Dare you say that...

Ragini huffs and goes from there. Dadi too goes behind her. Sanskaar leaves from there, saying he has to get some items. He takes the photograph too.

Sanskaar comes back with shopping bags but he left them as soon as he saw Ragini running inside her room, crying. He ran towards her but she has already closed the door. He banged on the door.

Sanskaar : Ginu, what happened? Please open the door. Ginu.....

He shouted, in fear. Dadi came there hearing his voice and Dada ji who was sleeping in the same room woke up. They were confused as to why he was shouting.

Dada : chore what happened? Why are you screaming?

Sanskaar : you guys tell me.... i went for a few hours, you made my Ginu cry. What did you say or do to her, haan? Look, i have given permission to you all to visit her, but if you’re gonna make her cry... i swear to God, I’ll not leave anyone.....

The oldies looked at him, horrified. He was red in anger. Ragini came out washing her face. Her eyes and nose were red. Sanskaar immediately hugged her and then kissed on her forehead cupping her face. Ragini looked at the trio confused.

Sanskaar : Ginu, what happened tell me? What’s wrong? Did they or anyone said something to you? Why were you crying?

Dadi : chore, listen to me at least...

Sanskaar : what should i listen haan? Now what she did which is not according to your culture and values haan? I don’t believe this... in the morning you were being so protective and now...

Ragini : Sansku relax baba...... ( she cups his face ) Dadi didn’t do anything... i was cutting onions that’s why i got tears in my eyes.. you know na, i don’t like cutting them....

Sanskaar : what? Who told you to cut onions? God, your eyes must be burning... you sit here, i’ll just come....

He makes her sit on the bed and runs out of the room. Dada Dadi were shocked but also happy seeing his reaction. They both sat on her either side.

Dadi : laado, i didn’t knew he loved you so much...

Ragini blushed.

Dada ; but no wonder he’s sujata’s son... always over reacting....

Trio chuckle but makes a straight face seeing Sanskaar. He comes there with ice cubes covered in a cloth. He sits on his knees in front of Ragini and massages it on her eyes and blows air. Dada Dadi gets emotional seeing his care for her.

Sanskaar : how are you feeling now?

Ragini : i’m better Sansku. Thank You....

Sanskaar nods and angrily turns towards Dadi.
Sanskaar : you’re her Dadi ma... she has lived with you for 24 years still you don’t know her eyes burn if she cuts onion. Why did you let her do? You should have done it... and if you also have same problem then you should have waited for me... mohan also had to take leave today otherwise he would have helped... i didn’t expected this from you Dadi ma...

Ragini : arre Sansku relax... i’m fine now... and i only insisted to cut onions as Dadi ma was making the dough...

Sanskaar : why Ginu?

Ragini : Sansku, don’t worry and some day or the other i have to learn this na... pain is also part of our lives..

Sanskaar : but i can’t see you in pain, Ginu....

Dada : chore.... now leave it... see Laado is fine. Calm down now..... and you two get back to work... it’s already 6:30.. Laado your new boss will be here in a few hours....

Sanskaar : no Ginu. You take rest I’ll help Dadi ma....

Dadi : you know how to cook food?

Ragini chuckles hearing this. Sanskaar glares at her.

Sanskaar : of course Dadi ma, I know. Now come lets go. And Ginu, you take rest and give me your mobile phone.

Ragini : why?

Sanskaar “: because i know.. you’ll not sleep but keep digging your eyes in phone ..

Ragini pouts as Sanskaar takes her phone and puts it in his pocket. She goes upstairs to sleep and Dada ji lies in his room. Dadi and Sanskaar moves to kitchen to prepare food.

Sanskaar : Dadi ma.. sorry, i over reacted and talked rudely.

Dadi : don’t be beta. I was happy seeing your concern for Laado. Now I know, she’ll be happiest with you only. I don’t regret my decisions of sending her with you and then your engagement.

Sanskaar smiles at her.

Dadi : beta, my Laado has gone through a lot and somewhere I feel responsible for  that because whatever she did in her life were my decision not hers. I forced her to do so many things which she didn’t wanted to do... and that silly girl never refused or said something to me... she just kept nodding and doing whatever i told her to do... the world moved ahead with time but i couldn’t.
In the name of values and tradition, i kept her behind which made her weak. But after seeing her after one year, i realised that being modern does not mean that you lose all your values.
Along with making her modern, you also made her confident and bright, Sanskaar but you didn’t let her lose her values.

Sanskaar : Dadi ma... our values show from our behaviour, how we speak and how we treat others... it doesn’t reflects from our clothes or our life style or where we live. You’ve given her great upbringing. She’s still my innocent duppate wali dost and nothing can change that.

Dadi caresses his cheek and nods. He smiles back at her.

Dadi : I just wish that she gets all the happiness in the world.

Sanskaar : of course Dadi ma, she’ll get. Touchwood !!

Dadi blesses him.

Dadi : you just come back soon from abroad, then we’ll quickly get you married.

Sanskaar blushes hearing this. Dadi nods her head in disbelief.

Dadi : God, you can also blush like my Laado.

Sanskaar turns red hearing this while Dadi laughs more. She caresses his hair and continues her work.

Sanskaar : and Dadi ma, i think Delhi’s air has gotten inside you. Just look at you, you are no more that angry Marwaran Dadi....

He chuckles as she glares at him.

Sanskaar : no seriously, Dadi Ma, Ginu was so scared of you all the time. Everytime we used to talk she would be like “what if Dadi Ma gets to know?” “”what if Dadi ma felt bad?” like for smallest things she would have to ask your permission and now you are cooking with her fiancé and teasing him. i’m sure, Ginu will love her new Dadi ma....

He chuckles. It was funny for him but for her, she felt like someone has literally taken away her reason to live. She always had an idea that Ragini was scared of her but upto this extent? A lone tear dripped from her eye. The hot pan touched her fingers, but she didn’t felt any pain.
Sanskaar saw this and pushed her aside but the blank expression on her face scared him. He shook her to bring her out of the trance. She looked at him and within a nano second, before Sanskaar could realise, she was in his arms crying.

It was difficult for him to handle her alone. He took her to the dining table and gave her water. Dada ji too came there, hearing her sobs. After much persuasion, Sanskaar was able to calm her down.

Dada : Parvati what happened? Why are you crying?

Sanskaar : please speak slowly. I don’t want Ginu to get worried. .

They both nodded and calmed down. They all settled down and Sanskaar gave water to them.

Sanskaar : Dadi ma, what happened?

Dadi : Sanskaar, was i that bad to her?

Sanskaar : Dadi ma, i was just saying. Please don’t take it on heart. She loves you.

Dadi : but you said...

Sanskaar ; Dadi ma, common. Aren’t we all scared of our elders? Don’t we all ask for permissions? I was just saying i never imagined you being friendly like this.

Dada : parvati, from when did you became so weak?

Dadi : i can see anything, ji... but i won’t be able to see hatred or fear in my laado’s eyes for me, now...

Sanskaar ; she doesn’t hate you Dadi ma. You know for once, she hated everyone but not once did she uttered any bad word for you guys. She respects you and that is above everything. She would never want to see you like this. Hmm??

Dadi wipes her tears and nods. Dada too supports her.

Sanskaar : Dadi ma, Dada ji... let’s just forget everything.. whatever happened.. for yourself, for her, for me....

They nod and bless him. he smiles. The episode ends at his face.
