Jess POV:

I thought it would be weird when Luke started living here, Sang proved me totally wrong, and then I thought that North becoming part of, what I would call my family, wouldn't work in the slightest. But it does, sort of !

As much as I love the animals, and still help with them all the time, I've started my own garden and taken over most of the gardening from Sang, we grow most of our own food, she used to but had to stop with me and Luke living here as the garden wasn't big enough. But we do now again, now that I've tripled the size of the garden.

Luke and Sang work so well together, when you watch them it's like you're watching a choregraphed dance. They are both concentrating fully on the animals, it has allowed Sang to save way more and that where North has come in.

With our help and several of Sang animal family, his been extending all the hospital wings so that each now has about five extra bays. His also made it so that more can be added with ease. I still have no idea where Sang gets all the money she has been giving him to use on the project! But the money keeps coming, the best materials and anything else he needs. He still has the ankle tag on, but I can tell S is starting to trust him, I don't think the trust will ever be the same as with me or with Luke, simply due to the fact that he hurt Luke and that she is so in love with Luke (not that she will ever admit it), but it's getting there. This is all helped by Charlie, Samira, Lola and Jeffery accepting him as they do me, his become a sort of uncle. He dropped an arm around her the other day, and she didn't scream or panic and actually left it there, something up to that point only Luke and I had been able to do. I don't think North really realised what he was doing when he did it, it wasn't until he saw the shock in my eyes that his eyes registered just as much shock.

North thinks I don't notice the look in his eyes as he looks at her, it's the same as Luke's, his slowly, but surely, falling for her. Luke's already totally smitten and from the amount of messages Gabe is sending (basically constant stream), so is he... I don't know if this can end well, not after the Kayli catastrophe! Corey sends load as well but it doesn't feel the same way, it's almost older brotherly, I could be reading that totally wrong though...

Currently I'm doing my best to not laugh at North. We're all down in the Dojoish place that Sang created, and North is 'fighting' Sam and Jeff, it's hilarious. He basically just running away from them as they practically chase him up walls. S and L are currently playing with the twins, Charlie and Lola, in the ceiling, across the bars and ropes, placed there for this exact purpose, in a game of what seems to be tag. They haven't noticed what's going on below, yet.

"Dam, stop already you two!" North yells, Sang's got much better at accepting loud noises now, she kind of had to, considering North is now living here! While it doesn't freak her out, this time, it does get both hers and Luke's attention. Luke is not good at hiding his laughter, nowhere near as good as me-not in the slightest, Sang's quiet giggles follow momentarily, then I can't help but burst out in full laughter, her giggles really are very infectious! Sam and Jeff really don't listen to anyone but Sang, Luke has moments when they listen to him, but then they totally turn off and ignore him a minute later, which can be hilarious! They are literally going through a teenage phase at the moment "Sang please!" he calls sounding slightly desperate as he continues to hold on to a rope. She laughs once more, but calls out to them.

"Sam, Jeff, let your uncle down!" they both turn and give her huge 'puppy dog' eyes, she rolls hers and sides down a rope to scoop Sam up into a hug. She crouches and drops a kiss on Jeff's head and he almost purrs, the two monkeys drop down either side followed by Luke who picks Jeffery up.

"You can come down now North..." Luke mutters "...chi sapeva che aveva paura delle altezze!" (who knew he was afraid of heights), he adds after a second, Sang turns and frowns at him as she watches the slightly shaky North come down.

"You know they won't actually hurt you right, you're part of their family, part of our family!" she's looking straight at North as she says this. At the mention of family, we all tense, she is going into academy headquarters later as Violet. None of us can go with her, Luke and North because their ex-family think they are traitors and me because they all know who I am and Kota still doesn't know that I'm involved in this and we want to keep it that way, not that I care, but it does make sense... I guess.

Luke's free hand twitch at his side, his other arm tightening slightly around Jeffery, North's hands fist at his sides, his jaw clenches. Jeff lets out a squeak and Sang moves her free hand to round Luke's giving him something to ground him. North swallows hard. Watching as she wordlessly tells Luke she's going to be fine. I can tell North's pissed that he can't read their eyes and work out what they just said to each other. Whatever it was, Luke's lips twitch, he interlinks their fingers, the crazy light that was building in his eyes relaxing as he grounds himself by holding on to his lifeline. S kisses Samira on the head and stoops to place her on the floor, Luke doesn't release her hand, Jeffery leaps out of his arms a moment later, the four kids race off to, probably, cause mischief, I make a mental note to check they haven't been in my room when I go upstairs later. They might be two monkeys a cheetah and a wolf 'cub' but they can cause as much mischief as Luke on a prank spree.

The second Luke's arms are free he tugs on Sang's hand, she allows him to pull her back to his chest and wrap both arms around her. He buries his face in her hair, breathing deeply, he does this when ever he feels like his going to panic, or when his ADHD starts to act up.

"Right, while I'm out..." Luke's arms tighten, Sang lays her hands on his arm where they are banded around her waist and continues "...there are a few animals that need feeding... Luke..." She waits until he nods into her hair, "...Jess I found those seeds you wanted. Oh, and the parts for the new greenhouse are here! North do you think you could make a start on that?" she turns to the surly man standing as close to her as he can get, without touching, he manages to nod past the tension locking his whole body. She rolls her eyes and flicks his nose, he blinks at her, "What did we say about verbal responses?" Luke lets out a laugh muffled by her hair and North gives a tiny half smile as he rolls his eyes at her.

"You got me dragon fruit seeds?" I question, she sends me a grin, nodding. North rolls his eyes (again), Sang flicks his nose (again), at my enthusiastic response to seeds, which breaks the tension, as Sang unwraps Luke's arms from her waist.

"Can you come give me a hand, with the dye from Gabe, you did a super good job last time!" she asks me, "must be all that practice!" she adds grinning cheekily at Luke, but I can see the fear building in her eyes. She hates leaving us, she hates being off the compound. I can't help my snort, I may or may not have been experimenting with how many different colours I could get into Luke's hair, without him noticing, the current record is five, but that was with Sang's and the twin's help. He had got us back, though not with hair dye, while Sang is happy to participate in pranks and be pranked back, you have to be really careful what you get her with.

I once set off one of her triggers when I caught her in cupboard, as a prank, long before Luke was on the scene, she had a full-blown panic attack, I had no way of calming her down. She didn't speak to me for a week, in fact she didn't speak for a week, even to the animals. It was scary. Turns out she's extremely claustrophobic, I think due to something to do with her mum? Or step mum? She didn't really say much about it, but you could see something had been extremely traumatic in her past. The scars kind of show that. She doesn't say that much about her past, but she's let out some hints more recently, as she becomes more comfortable with us, it's as though we are getting through the high walls she has built around every bit of her past.

"Of course, let's go!" I link my arm though hers and drag her off upstairs. It takes two hours to dye her mass of blonde hair bright purple again. Gabe really is a genius; he created this dye that would wash out super easily from her pale multi-coloured blonde hair but doesn't look like dye. It's seriously amazing!

When she's ready to go, her hair now back to the bright violet colour, she whistles for the dogs she's taking with her, they race to her feet in an instant. Jason presses into her side, ever the protector, Lucky trots up from nowhere and nudges me, he is the animal I connect with most, weirdly, his greeting of Sang is interrupted by the two boys, the twins and their siblings racing in. The four young one's crowd around her and she says 'see you later' to all of them before North grabs her into a hug. She tenses for a moment the hugs him back gently, he releases her quickly, but the fact that she didn't freak out, proves that his gaining her trust. I swear his cheeks a slightly pink, but now is not the time to be teasing North about blushing, even if it kind of rare.

Luke comes up to her, cups his hands round her face, leans in and presses a kiss to her lips. Super soft and infinitely gentle. He pulls back and she's breathless, but her smile is stunning, if slightly shy.

"A presto Cupcake!" (See you soon Cupcake) he whispers, she smiles and heads out to where Storm is waiting for her, still looking slightly shocked.

The next four hours are torture for all of us. Sam, Jeff, Charlie and Lola practically stick to Luke's side as he does his rounds of the animals, during feeding time, North breaks three panes of glass before deciding that something fragile is not the best thing to be doing when his so tense. It's a good job that Sang doesn't drink and therefore has no alcohol in her house accept medical, but all the drug cabinets have been locked with codes that only me, Sang and Luke know. North knows this for his own safety, right now I really understand why, if he could, he would be drinking right now, if he could, he would be out of his head right now.

I manage to plant the seeds in the wrong pots, which is super annoying, I have to redo the lot, while it's a pain it passes the time until she gets back. Luke's hands are starting to shake by the time she gallops in. His... his addicted to her, her light, the way she loves with her whole heart... when she trusts you. And she trusts Luke, so he basks in her light, I think I do as well, just being around her makes me feel better, oh god, me and North, we're all the same, barely able to function without her here.

The moment she's back Luke is right there hugging her, his face buried in her hair again, hardly hearing a word she's saying, but I do.

"I can help them, but not if we're too late, we have to find them before the Academy do, so many times it's too late for them, if we are going to help them... I want to help them!" she starts crying, "Like the Academy should have done for me, they didn't even know, they couldn't find me... they didn't find me, they..." she breaks down in tears. We don't hear another word, she just cries.

It's the second time that I've seen her cry quite so much, but the last time she got out of it with her animal's help, this time it's not working. Her crying is not only stressing me, but North and Luke as well. The more she cries and shuts down, the angrier North becomes, to the point of slamming his fists into the walls. She backs away from us, as her eyes fill with wild light

"Kiss her, Luke it worked for you?!" I gasp yell at him, unsure at this moment what else to do

"She won't let me touch her, or I would do straight away, but..." he watches her, looking broken. That's when it hits me, she could master her fear when she saw L's ex-family, she mastered the fear for Luke for the other children she wants to help. For everyone else...

"Hey S, we need you... Luke needs you... North needs you... Samira needs you..."I pause between each name, letting her absorb each one, I see something in her eyes as I crouch to her level, "Jeffery needs you... Lola needs you..." she looks up at me and her eyes meet mine, "Charlie needs you..." she gasps her eyes coming back to life, "Lucky needs you..." she looks at me and I use a technique that my mum taught me a few weeks after we met, I lift my hand up and down in time with my breathes. She watches it and breathes with me her breathes slowing, "I need you!" I add and she stops being so tense her hands stop clawing the floor. Her eyes have refocused, they land on Luke having a break down rocking and tapping. North punches the wall again, her eyes flick to him.

She takes a deep breath and stands the next time North goes to punch the wall, she catches his fist and flips him, straight over. She straddles him.

"North..." she whispers quietly, "North look at me..." he does and stares into her eyes as she holds his hands above his head. "North you good?" she asks still above him. He blinks a few times, "Can I go help Luke?" he nods, "are you going to stop destroying my walls?" she asks him, her focus being pulled towards Luke, he nods again.

She's off him in a moment and right next to Luke. She knows not to touch him and just does as I was doing for her. It works but Luke's left shaking and sweaty. She cups his face and bring their foreheads together whispering words that I can't hear. He nods, then wraps his arms around her tight, they are so perfect for each other, she reciprocates with her arm coming around his back as her eyes meet mine over Luke's shoulder, thank you! You know you are an essential part of this family right, don't ever think anything different! They say before they shut, and she buries her head in his neck as his currently doing to her.

I never realised that was what I was thinking, but that was the issue when Luke came, again when North arrived. Sangs hands open and gesture at me, I don't even think I just join them in the hug, a second later I feel North wrap his arms around from the other side and the four snuggle in between us.

A full family hug.

This is my family. My new family!

I didn't realise how bad I felt about this.

But not anymore...
