PART 58: AWAY FROM EACH OTHER.

As soon as Sanemi reached his place, he got ready to make Giyuu his favourite food.

As soon as he walked into the kitchen, his crow flew to him.

"You're back, Sanemi?"

"Yeah... Now I gotta get to work."
He kept the roses aside, washing his hands. He sighed softly before he took the knife, slicing the salmon into pieces.

He cooked with a determined expression, his mind solely focused on Giyuu.

After adding the simmering stock into the pot, he covered it with a lid.

"Giyuu... I'll do anything, just come back into my life..."
He smiled softly, a little hope sparking up inside him.

He even added some extra care to the presentation, making the dish look even more appetising.

"He's definitely gonna love it..."
He thought to himself as he tasted it, nodding approvingly.

Holding the bowl and the flowers, he sighed softly.

"Do I just... Walk to his place with a bowl in my hand like this? Isn't it odd...?"
He thought for a while before clicking his tongue.

"Well, anything for him."

He walked out of his place, holding the dish in his hands with care. He scanned the area with a sharp gaze, searching for any signs of Giyuu. He knew there was a high chance of Giyuu just wandering around, still upset.

"Come on, where are you...? I hope you'll forgive me..."
He muttered softly.

Giyuu was indeed in his Estate, sitting near the doorstep. His emotions were a complicated mix of anger, guilt and regret. Even his tears didn't seem to dry off.

With no sign of Giyuu anywhere outside, Sanemi finally decided to walk to his place. He walked to the front door, which was slightly open.
He could partly see Giyuu sitting there, his expression softening slightly at the sight of him still being upset.

He hesitated for a moment, then took a deep breath and stepped closer only to find Giyuu's gaze fixed on the floor.

"Giyuu... it's me... Sanemi... I have something for you..."
His voice was low and gentle.

Giyuu's eyes widened as he slowly stood up, wiping his tears off. His gaze met Sanemi's and he felt his heart beat faster.
There was a faint feeling inside his chest which he wanted to deny, but he couldn't.

He wanted to hug Sanemi. But he didn't let himself come out as weak again, he stood there with no response.

Sanemi looked at Giyuu with concern, taking in his tear-streaked face. He held out the dish hesitantly, unsure of how to approach him.

"...I just wanted to make it up to you with this..."

Giyuu's eyes widened slightly.

All this... For me? No, no, no... I-I can't accept it...

"I... don't need this."
Giyuu stepped back, his heart crushing up even more as he looked at Sanemi's hurt expression.

But something in the back of his mind kept telling him to stay away from Sanemi, no matter what.

Sanemi's heart continued to pound inside his chest. Some part of him was telling him to give up, but his emotions were clouding his judgment. He gently set the dish down on the floor, his expression twisted in confusion and sadness.
"I-I thought we could work things out, Giyuu...."

Giyuu's eyes widened. He knew things would've never taken such a turn if he wasn't so sensitive. He should've never been mad at Sanemi for something so trivial.
But then again, Tengen's words seemed to have a huge impact on him. It had changed the way he viewed Sanemi completely. It had made him believe Sanemi never cared about his sentiments.

He was so scared of making a decision in accepting or rejecting, he held his head, unable to believe in anyone.

"I think..."
He swallowed hard, trying to hold his tears in.

"I think we're better of without each other... Shinazugawa-San."

Sanemi felt as though he was being stabbed in the heart, the words,
"better off without each other" hitting him like a truck.

He fought back the urge to beg, though the pain was evident in his expression.

"A-Alright..."
He sounded empty, his voice had no tint of emotion.

Giyuu breathed fast, fearing that he made a wrong decision again. He didn't know who to trust, and it felt like the fear was crawling on him, more and more, twisting around his body and suffocating him.

Sanemi looked at Giyuu with a blank expression, his eyes devoid of any emotion. He knew this was coming, but hearing it from Giyuu hurt more than he thought it would.

"Shinazugawa-San..."
Giyuu tried his best not to break down into tears again.

"H-Hm...?"
Sanemi's gaze met Giyuu's. He knew he had to stop hoping for anything nice to happen all of a sudden, yet his broken heart continued to expect something that would provide him relief.

"I..."
Giyuu took a deep breath in.

"I... I just need... some time."
He tried to explain, but his words only led him to recall the time when Tengen told him the so-called 'truth' about Sanemi.
He covered his face with both his hands, unable to express his only, true feelings. He didn't know what was going on with him. He had started to hate Sanemi, but he still loved him.

Sanemi felt his heart shatter into a million pieces, the pain overwhelming him. He knew he shouldn't, but he still reached out and gently took Giyuu's hands away from his face, forcing him to look at him.

"Time..."
His voice was barely above a whisper.

"Take all the time you need, Giyuu. I just want you back in my life... and... and I will not back down."
His sad expression switched to that of determination.

Giyuu swallowed hard, pulling his hands away from Sanemi's grip.

Sanemi let Giyuu's hands go, feeling a chill go down his spine as he noticed his unstable state.

"You know..."
He let out a sigh.

"I don't think..."
He exhaled softly.

"I don't think I will ever let you go."

Giyuu's eyes widened at the words, yet he looked away.

Sanemi felt his heart break a little more, the pain unbearable. But he held on, refusing to let Giyuu walk out of his life.

"Giyuu..."
He whispered, hoping he would look at him again.

"I love you... and I won't give up on us."
He paused for a while.

"These flowers, this dish... I don't care about all this. All I care about, is you. I know you love them. And I'm going to do anything to get you back. I love everything about you, and-"

"Just... Just go, Shinazugawa-San."
Giyuu interrupted, unable to believe any word Sanemi said.

Sanemi closed his eyes tightly, fighting back tears. He stepped closer, forcing Giyuu to take the flowers.
He took a deep breath before walking away, leaving the dish behind.

"I'll be back, Giyuu."
He whispered before disappearing from Giyuu's view.

"I promise."
He said, more to himself than to Giyuu.

"Do whatever you want..."
Giyuu whispered almost to himself, before closing his door shut.

Sanemi continued to walk, Giyuu's words ringing in his ears. He felt lost, unsure of what he did wrong. He shook his head before turning around one last time. The closed door, through which the cutest person would walk out of, always with a smile.

He sighed helplessly, he didn't know why Giyuu would completely cut him out. Giyuu didn't eat properly himself. He went back to his own house, feeling more alone than ever before.

It was late afternoon and the sun was about to set now, leaving a golden hue in the sky. Giyuu was sitting in the backyard, regretting every single action.

He stared at the flowers, his heart aching.

"Why does this happen to me...?"
His eyes slowly shifted to the empty bowl beside him. The taste of Sanemi's food... Everything about it, was so nice. But it just made him sad.

"He... He doesn't understand. Sanemi... He's so..."
Giyuu was in a verge of tears as he looked at the sunset from his backyard.

He took a deep breath, trying to compose himself, but his voice was still shaky.

"He doesn't get it. He doesn't understand how much..."
He paused, his heart aching with unspoken words.

"He just doesn't get it."

"It sounded like you two had a falling out, is that true?"
Tengen's words seemed to play in his mind over and over, cutting him deeper with each repetition.

Giyuu's gaze fell back to the floor, his fingers twisting in his lap.

The feeling of being worthless and a nobody to Sanemi, grew extensively.

His mind was filled with self-doubt and pain, and he felt tears pricking at the back of his eyes.
But he refused to let them fall. Instead, he clenched his fists, his nails digging into his palms.

"If only... everything was just like how it was before..."
Giyuu took a deep, shaky breath in.

"I hate this... everything, it's unbearable!"
He let out a small, broken sob, his shoulders shaking as he buried his face in his arms.

He hated himself for being so weak, for letting his emotions get the better of him. He hated Sanemi for making him feel this way, even blaming himself for the position he'd put himself in life.

"I'm so stupid... I'm such an idiot..."

He kept weeping, the sound soft and muffled.

"Why... Why...?"
He asked himself, gasping for air in between his words.

Why does everyone I love and care for... go away?

He wanted to deny it, but, he really wished Sanemi was there to comfort him.

He wished Sanemi's hands would pull him closer, caressing his back comfortingly, just like how he always used to.

But, he knew it was too late.

He knew he had messed up everything completely.
